Oo! That's very interesting! It adds a kind of anxiety to finding animals. Tell you what, I'll absolutely think about it. If I ask you for help later when I start working on it, can I count on you to help me with details? Other then that, it's a pretty good idea! Also, if people don't like the idea, they can disable the feature in the configuration file or menu. :D

    Does this help? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intersex

Hmm, haven't really thought about it to be honest. I'll look more into it but no promises to be honest. Can you suggest what I'll be able to do with this feature? Or what this would be used for?

Basically the player would have to manage the breeds as to avoid having only intersex animals, as those cannot produce offspring.

What do you mean by intersex animals?

I mean animals that are neither male nor female. See also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intersex

This is different from hermaphrodite in the sense that they wouldn't be able to produce offspring.

    posted a message on [ComputerCraft][Computronics] NBSPlayer 4.0

There doesn't seem to be a place to post things for mods, so I hope it's ok to do it here.

I made a thing for ComputerCraft + Computronics called "NBSPlayer". It lets you play NBS songs with ComputerCraft. I know there are many NBS players for ComputerCraft but this one is much different!

    Features

The main feature is that this supports more songs than most NBS players. When it comes to song speed, ALL songs are supported, not just 20, 10, 5 and 2.5 TPS ones.[1] It also supports 2 extra instruments: the "pling" sound, and the "bass" sound. They're unused instruments which are available with Computronics. On the NBS, "pling" should be custom instrument #1, "bass" should be custom instrument #2.

Other than that, it's just a standard NBS player.

    Downloading and installing

The instructions for downloading and installing assume you're playing singleplayer.

To download, go to https://github.com/SoniEx2/NBSPlayer/releases/latest and click the first "Source code (zip)" link.

To install, first find out the in-game computer's ID. This can be done by running the "id" program.

Then, go to your .minecraft folder, open "saves", find and open your save, find and open the "computer" directory, then find and open the directory with your computer's ID from the previous step.

Extract all the files to that folder. Open the game. Hook up a monitor to the computer, then hook up some note blocks through networking cable. You should now be able to run "playnbs.lua ".

    Videos

While a bit outdated, the following video shows what NBSPlayer is about.

It was recorded with NBSPlayer 2.0, but the same setup (monitor on top, modem on bottom) is still supported. (The printer is just for looks.)

The source code for WAILA is available at https://bitbucket.org/ProfMobius/waila (altho it's not really "open source" per the OSI definition of open source)

posted a message on List of sites stealing Minecraft content. StopModReposts!
    Quote from Cuchaz»
This seems like a fantastic idea. I have a question though. Many mods are distributed using very permissive licenses (eg GPL, Apache). Copying and distributing (eg) GPL'd mods is not actually against the terms of the license at all. These licenses are actually intended to promote sharing and derivative works. I agree that there are less scrupulous websites out there that are essentially stealing web traffic from mod authors, but for permissively licensed mods, what recourse do mod authors have for redirecting that traffic back to their sites without changing the licensing terms?

    Quote from CoolSquid»

There's a reason I'm not a fan of licences allowing monetisation. It causes a lot of trouble.

I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to (e.g.) claim I made bash... I'm pretty sure you can still DMCA them, because they're claiming they made something they didn't make.

EDIT: I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice.

posted a message on (Survival friendly) Half-tick offsetter
I was trying to get a half-tick offset on a redstone line so I could play 20 noteblocks per second, this is the result:

    (That's a sticky piston btw)
Consider the piston+comparator output as (redstone) tick 0 and the repeater line as (redstone) tick 0.5.

So could anyone come up with a song using this device?

    update IT

If it was open source it would get updated faster... and I mean a lot faster...
... Also isn't saying "update it" and stuff against the rules? Meh, I should probably just read them...

I plan to have the add-on available along side the release of the main mod. I will probably have to change the block IDs and even attempt the NBT approach for the add-on, and, sorry to say, it WILL most likely make the current glass you have disappear for the most part. However, I will do what it takes to satisfy both the people that think there are too many blockIDs in the mod currently and those that are fine with the IDs and want to keep there builds. If it means having a "classic" version of the mod for the latest version along side the revamp, I try to make it happen.

    -Stay crafty my friends.

Are you going to make it open source? or at least say why not?

    Darkmainiac, your mod is awesome.

Still, we got a graphical glitch as you can see on the picture below. The black lines between the glass and solid blocks are even flickering when the player moves.

Strange thing is, these lines don't appear between every glass-solid-block connection.

    Any idea what's happening?

    Best regards.
