posted a message on Every Mushroom Biome Seed in Minecraft!
I wouldn't post to this thread, being so old, but the last activities on this thread are current.

You should define what you mean by "mushroom biome seed"

I interpret this to mean, there is a mushroom biome near spawn. But some people seem interpret this to be "any world with a mushroom biome in the world"

That being said, I haven't got any new ones, but I am happy with the ones you provided.

Same here. I have been 'evicting' zombies nightly from the 'party' outside the Villager Inn (pic on first page) and I never have had a zombie spawn in any of the lighted areas in the town nor inside any of the houses. We're running 1.6.1 on the server with none of those problems.

May have been a fluke, but that's part of why all my floors are half slabs. Only one instance I know of that it happened, but since they couldn't open his iron door to get in, and he was crafting away in his one room 'cozy cottage' (no basement) and 4 torches in a 7x9 interior ( and the torches spaced so that by the time light travelled more than 4 blocks it was a wall or another torch). I don't see how it could spawn in there otherwise.

But if I see it again, I'll definitely be making notes of anything that could be involved. Might've been some kind of hiccup. If that's not intended behavior than that part of my concern is put to rest. But is still think it seems the aggro range and frequency of additional spawns should have some kind of configuration control.

    All Chickens ARE female... ;)

Male chickens are called roosters... :P

Male chickens are roosters (assuming adult)
Female chickens are hens (assuming adult)

Not all chickens are roosters. But any minecraft chicken can lay an egg, so all minecraft chickens are female, but through some kind of magic, they can give live birth, and some of the eggs are naturally fertilized allowing them to produce chicks.

Interestingly, I've never had a chicken egg in the real world hatch 4 chickens from one egg, and I've also never had a chick hatch out of an egg thrown on the floor.

i feel the exact same way!
i remember my first day... not knowing what to do, digging out a tiny cave, and hiding all night cause i was scared that a zombie would sneak up on me

Ah yes, the days of not knowing that when night came around that you needed shelter. My first time playing I did not realize it started on peaceful... S I built a few days and nights, nothing happened. Decided to try a new world. Didn't realize my client had changed difficulties, so I stood outside at night punching a tree, heard a snarl, saw a green skinned guy walk up to me arms out front.

Panicked. Beat him to death with an oak block.

Went back to thumping the tree... Heard a sizzle, turned around "You have died!"
    [Respawn]

(My first creeper encounter, but I didn't even see him. So I didn't even realize what I did wrong!)

    1- Go on my rooftop
2- Lure him over by my nearest murder hole
3- Dump water to push him in.
    4- Scoop up my water.
5- Head to the basement and slice his legs off.
    6- Collect goodies.

I'm a little disappointed in it, insofar as the zombies 'zeroing in on you from extreme ranges, and I haven't experimented with whether I can adjust the "summoning" of new zombies frequency yet for my server. I'm still trying to track some of the details down.

I don't run into a lot of zombies, since I'm not out in the wilderness all that much at night. I'm either way down a mine, crafting at home, or making a city or market run much of the time.

I will say though, that the summoned zombies that appear because you're attacking a zombie should at least play by the light spawning rules. If every block in the house my buddy is locked up in has a light level of 10+ my killing zombies on his front porch shouldn't spawn a zombie inside his house. Outside, you probably are not going to have total light coverage, but in your home, if they can't spawn normally, why should they get to spawn because someone hit a zombie outside?

I do think it should be a little more configurable, and maybe them detecting you at great distances should at least be variable. Like at 60 blocks they have 1/3 the chance of detecting you as they do at 40, etc. so maybe at 10-20 blocks very likely, 21-40 likely, 41-60 maybe, 61-80 unlikely, and 81+ you're not there at all?

    Just my thoughts...

posted a message on A server spawn used every time a player joins!
As Garrett indicated, and what I imagined you were referencing that is essentially a multiverse type server setup, where you connect to one world/server, where you do not set a home/spawn point, and so you always arrive at the default spawn location. Ten you can 'jump' to other worlds using one of many types of portals, when you go through one of those portals, then you would resume where you last were on that secondary world.

In other words, I have 4 worlds
Te one you connect to is my "hub" where you can choose to port into my survival world or my resource world (meant for heavy mining, and a resource rich seed), and the "creeping terror" world where there are no spawns in the world but creepers. A great source of gunpowder, and an easy place to get blown up.

When you connect to the world, you spawn in at the default spawn location in the hub world, you can get to the other three from the, and will spawn in either at a designated portal into that world or at your disconnect location from when you were last there. (Depending on how the portals are configured)

posted a message on My server will not allow others to join
Contact your hosting provider (if you are using a server outside your physical location) or your Internet service provider if the server is using your internet connection, regarding having this opened, or ask them to tell you what port to use, and update this in your server.properties. Wile minecraft defaults to one port, it can be set to plate on another port instead.

If users can reach the server, but are not allowed to join, you might need to check your server properties to verify your whitelist = false.

It is also worth noting that if you are using your Internet, you need to make sure port forwarding is set up correctly on your router. The external port does not need to match the internal port, as long as the router is set to properly forward what port you set on the outside of your router to the correct port inside your local network.

posted a message on MINECRAFT: How to make an automatic redstone farm! [TUTORIAL]
Not quite what I expected. From the title I thought you had figured out how to make an automatic farm for redstone, not a redstone powered farm. The principle I've seen before, but you provided a good solid building tutorial, and kept it simple to understand. Several of the farm tutorials I've seen are, large and complicated, focusing on the output volume, rather than to show the building principles

posted a message on A teacher for admin/building
I have been playing Minecraft Single and Multiplayer, primarily survival. A little Creative.

I have a small MineCraft server currently set up for less than 20 people, that I am attempting to learn on, so I can build a better server.

I am looking for a couple people with experience as an admin/owner/operator to help me learn to
    a) build a better spawn hub
    B) understand portals between worlds
    c) set up shops (sign shop preferred) which can trade currency for items
    d) understand how to assign permissions.

My goal is to eventually be able to place a server online with a capacity for a couple hundred simultaneous players on multiple parallel worlds including survival, creative, and a couple specialty worlds as well.
