    Catacombs - Powergaming Adventurers

To the adventurer's dismay, the chest was empty and the skeleton was merely an adventurer long given up from when these catacombs were once sealed off, perhaps there was an entrance somewhere far away from this point, that fact was unclear.

To the northeast of the room was a small arched exit which seemed to lead into another room, to the south was an open corridoor branching left and right, the entire place unlit and eerie. Torch sconces hang from the walls at regular intervals, but they hold not even unlit torches, any adventurers looking to light the place up would have to provide their own.

The walls of the catacombs are decorated with stone carvings that depict odd rituals, dances, dragons and battles, nothing particularly indicative of a purpose. The carvings curve around this entire room, beyond the walls boast a simple curling carved design that looks as if it would be easy to recreate for long stretches of wall.

    Catacombs - Elgar

Elgar jumps down into the opening, landing with a fumble but otherwise unscathed. Looking around he doesn't see much of anything, it is too dark in here. He examines the walls of the room briefly before darting off down one of the corridoors to the south before anyone can follow, picking a direction at random while the other two down here were distracted by a skeleton and a chest.

Yeah, no problem, new spells are always welcome, I just want to minimize the OP so that anyone who wants to join doesn't have to read as much.

A wind control attack and a general explosion might be good additions, I'll see what I already have.

    Blarkenvürk - Scouur City Guard

After the dust cleared the remaining guardsmen were able to clear some rubble to build a path into the cratered remains of the city. The damage was greater than suggested from an outside glance. The inner layer of the city walls was stained black with the contents of the city, the searing beam of the Leviathan had left little more than these fine black powdered remnants, a sickening thought of what this meant washed over the crowd. What was this creature, why did it do this, where did it come from?

"I've found something!" one of the more curious guards that hadn't been lazered from existance was now in the center of the crater, digging. A small crowd gathered around and peered down, where the beast had been drilling, only a few centimeters deeper, an opening into a room-like structure, the floor only a few metres down below. One guard pulled a sunrod from his belt, broke it and dropped it down, confirming this notion. "Gods, what was that creature after..."

Yeah, you can still join, I'll read over your application now. Most of those spells already exist in the OP:

Thorn, Fireball bolt, Tundra, IceMissile, Deluge: magic missile.

Dragon Breath: Breath Weapon, Unnatural Breath Weapon.
    Golem Armor: Stone Skin

    Revive: Ressurection

    Restore: heal

    etc.

reflavoring spells and abilities is always allowed, I don't want to add every little variation of a spell since it would bloat the OP.

Yeah, Your application is good, welcome aboard, feel free to drop in wherever you feel fits.

Yeah, it uses the moving illusion spell If you're not trained as a paladin, I haven't put a time limit on the moving illusion spell, so technically the steed costs 1 spell use per day. (It fades into the back of your mind while not active or something.)

    ??? - Gilor
twenty heads is better than two at the very least....

A cold chill runs down Gilor's spine suddenly the sounds of the world are no more and Gilor is standing in a field of Dusk. The night air around Gilor is physically heavy causing any movement to be hindered as if the air was a liquid. This unfamilar world is noticably lacking magic, a much older force is at work here. Before even a second has passed, Gilor is stood in front of a pale faced man in dark robes. in one hand a staff, in the other an hourglass. The glass' frame distinctly lacks any sand.

The man speaks, though his way of speaking is closer to the listener reading ink on a page. "Gilor, It is not by choice, but by law of a wish that your time on earth has run short, your sands have been stolen, they are empty and thus you are no longer free to wander the overworld plane of existance. You are gifted fourty hours to correct this wish if you believe it to be errorous, then we will come for you." With that the ink ran off the page of Gilor's mind and settled into his palm in the shape of a black copper piece.

With that Gilor was once again standing just as he were before the dusky plains, time had not even progressed a fraction of a second.

There was a loud crack in the sky as the leviathan flew overhead, towards the north.

    Blarkenvürk - Scouur City Guard
A barrage of arrows bounced harmlessly off the side of the creature, the crossbowmen fired waves of arrows, with two groups altering firing, but to no avail, the creatures skin was as stone. After several waves, and the creature taking no notice, the captain of the guard led the charge, raising his sword with his voice. "FOR SCOUUR, FOR THE CAPITAL, FOR THE PEOPLE!" He along with around 50 men charged in at the creature, this did catch its attention. The creature's head turned towards the men, its eyes narrowing, how dare they disturb its task. The creature let out a shrieking roar, displaying a mouth lined with several rows of jagged teeth.

The leviathan slithered forwards before rearing up as it had been while drilling, a large crystal set into its forhead began to glow with a brilliant heat before discharging a searing beam towards the advancing vanguard. A couple of lucky soldier in the group had dived, but the vast majority had not been so lucky. As the beam struck it vaporized the approaching party. But the beam did not end, it focusedly continued to be driven towards the city gate where Elgar and the remaining soldiers were situated.

    Blarkenvürk - Elgar

Among the shouting and cries Elgar was pushed to the side with a mass hoard, everyone at the gate had plenty of time to be parted in two as the searing beam shot out of the gate in a glowing arc. The beam collided with the wall above the gateway causing rubble to fall and fill this entryway. Sheltering his eyes from the dust, Elgar looked to the sky above the city, hoping to catch a glimpse of the creature, what he saw next was not at all expected.

The Blackened Heart of the world - Leviathan Su-ouul Drei
A heartbeat emanates from the catacombs. Human intervention provides a moment of clarity, this disturbance however must be reported.

The leviathan coiled up into a spring-like formation before launching itself into the air. The stripes runing along its length unfurled into sail-like membranes, it quickly repositioned itself in the wind by flicking its body like a whip before being shot north at a such a speed that it created a sound as if the sky itself were shattering.

Being given creative freedom on a huge aspect of your character such as being able to create a custom race most definitely adds both to individual enjoyment and the sense of involvement in a world.

However, there is an effect I like to call 'sqeezing' where if given freedom over their character abilities (such as racial abilitys, but really any time in which a player can create their own powers) the common player will squeeze as many powers in as they can. This often results in 'complex' (*COUGH*) abominations such as half-angel-half-demon werewolf-vampires with the ability to turn into a dragon.

I'll admit, It took me quite a while before I realised that these characters are actually really boring, you should try taking into account what others will think of your character, even if they think it is weird or stupid, weird and stupid is always better than bland. To create interesting characters though, I believe you need weaknesses; characters need flaws.

As for your RP Epicdinoman, first up, humans are faster and stronger than vampires, in fact, it seems vampires are only fast enough to catch Giant's and Nagas, I'm guessing they would primarily live off of Nagas in this world, you know except for the fact that these Nagas are poisonous archers who can probably swallow vampires whole if they do manage to sneak up on them.

The limiting humans thing then playing a human yourself is a very off-putting, especially considering your humans have the best statistics, think of it this way, if I made a 'medieval fantasy x Dinosaur jousting' RP where I was 'the chosen one' with a golden lance that charges up with sunlight, one more person gets a sunlance, but everyone else has to use a normal metal lance, would you consider joining?

I recommend leaving the statistics blank and allowing players to chose their stats (given a set amount of points.) It would balance out stats (some view Charisma as a dump stat, even your humans seem to not even include charisma) additionally it would allow for interesting characters such as a really smart minotaur or a weak giant.

I also recommend at least including one more 'human-like' race, like elves or a hylian-equivalent or something. Some people feel uncomfortable playing non-humans in a fantasy setting, you might even be one of them considering you're taking one of the only four human slots.

I think starwars hype was flooding the net and it really put me off making any original space world. Now that it seems to be over, and me being excited for Paizo's starfinder, i think I might like to work the project a bit. If you two are still up for it (Merit, Ult).

    7 days following...

    Blarkenvürk - Scouur City Guard

The week's journey was made long and arduous by the uncertainty the guardsmen would face when they arrived. Many got sick and a few gave up part of the way in due to fear. What was supposed to only take five days instead took seven. Arriving at what was once a prosperous inland city Blarkenvürk, was now a set of charred city walls with columns of what looked to be ash and smoke pillaring towards the cloudy sky. As the troup approached the large western gate which was unguarded and unclosed, they could see what remained.

Blarkenvürk was no longer a city, it was a charred crater of steep black incline. At its center stood a black snake-like creature shooting a searing beam from its forehead crystal. The creature was propped up in a coil, dead focused on its task of 'drilling'. around it nothing of a city remained. The crater was almost as deep as the city walls had originally been tall, this creature had been hard at work since the initial onslaught apparently, its beam did not disturb the soil, instead it disintigrated it, leaving nothing but a fine black smoke.

An apparent hush had fallen over the guardsmen who stood there staring in silence. The leader from Scouur gave a silent signal for crossbows to be readied, he only hoped that those in the capital (Swoorl) cared enough to lend some support and that they would arrive soon.

    Blarkenvürk - Elgar

Elgar's cart was third in line and when he caught a glimpse of the creature he instantly felt a sickness brew in the pit of his stomach. The creature was not from the fire plane at all, but instead some sort of magic-weilding dragon beast or something. He would have said something to his friend Hikaru, but even if he could muster words, it probably would not have done any good.

The tap on his shoulder and the familiar voice from the previous battle stopped Elgar in his tracks, the flameling was up and wandering aroud amongst the chaos of victims that had entered from the north "where are we and what's happening" Elgar turned to the person and spoke. "We were in an infirmary, I think something a lot worse is happening to the north of this city, a large creature attacking with fire, maybe it's got to do with the fire plane or something? In which case maybe you can speak to it?"

Before a response could be issued, Elgar and his friend were interrupted by militant shouting.

"Ouright ye scabs, double file, we're headin' norf to fight this problem." *step* *step* *step*...

Elgar turned to see what must be a large portion of the city's guard reserves marching and grouping in open topped wagons drawn by sturdy black horses. "Hey, quick, now's our chance." Elgar ran towards the wagons, taking a hooded cloak off of a wooden rack outside a currently empty store. I'll have to pay them back later. Elgar jumped into a wagon next to some guards who looked too nervous to confront anyone willing to tag along to their deaths.

((Gate's West gate leads into a small forest sanctuary patrolled by Sworl city guards, did you mean Eastern gate?))

15 MAG for resurrection. 11-12ish is rumor level, 15+ is mythic level, in terms of skill.

Skills with a 20 requirement are not really designed for repeated use in a campaign. You're more likely to see them in specific story tied events.

Meritania, try to supply new powers before you get the chance to select powers, otherwise there's the situation where everyone is just creating new powers at each power up and the spell list just keeps expanding, i'll let it slide this time since a reckless shot that sacrifices guaranteed damage for higher damage with risk is a good power for an otherwise range-lacking skill pool.
