posted a message on Minecraft API Discussion - Sat, 20:00 CEST, #minecraftdev on Esper
I'm putting in a request to join in the discussion - I have experience with creating Minecraft Server Software's (albeit classic). I have been developing for MCForge (Classic Software) for about a year now. I know how servers work and how plugins work (I have modded a custom classic client with a basic API ages ago) and would like to have a little input on how it is developed, how it works etc. I have also worked on LibMinecraft (http://libminecraft.codeplex.com/). I also develop Bukkit plugins, I have been on Bukkit+ since Jan 2011 (UID 1599). I have been developing for quite a while, although not releasing any plugins to the community. I also run my own community, but I would rather not disclose it as it isn't relevant to the conversation :)

    IRC Username is Snowl.

Minecraft now has a demo. Procrastinating excavators: you no longer have an excuse for skipping our favorite open-world game. Better yet, it has branded cows that Notch made for us. Keep in mind that these animals are specially-programmed to act as voodoo cows: when you punch them, each PC Gamer editor feels a mild thud in their chest. Be gentle.

The demo is generous: every tool, mineral and item is accessible, and you can dig, frolic, and build in your world for 90 minutes before it “locks” and becomes uneditable. You can create as many new worlds as you’d like. Let us know what you’re making–send us a screenshot of your demo world to [email protected].

Notch has released a minecraft demo so you can try before you buy!

Whats the point? With enough time they could crack the code, making the initial challenge moot. :sad.gif:

I got displaying friends almost working, and you can join the server that they are at... How ever it is pretty latency dependant as I don't know how to code using TCP packets only HTML so i'm not sure how it will work in real life..

posted a message on WorldGlitcher analysis. (NaN Y Axis, 2D world)
Only been tested in SMP because it works 99% with a single block booster from CraftBook (gold block) however I have done it without a gold block before.

    What is a WorldGlitcher?
It is a simple mechanism that is based on the C-Booster. It gets minecarts, makes them glitch in and out of existence then once you launch it, it breaks the world (sometimes)

    How to build one?
    Install CraftBook
    Get 100+ minecarts

    :|: = rails
    :GoldBar: = goldBlock

    Layer 1:
    [] [] :Yellow: [] [] []
    [] [] :Yellow: [] [] []
    [] [] :Yellow: [] [] []
:stone: :stone: :GoldBar: :stone: :stone: []
:stone: :stone: :stone: :stone: :stone: []
:stone: :stone: :stone: :stone: :stone: []
:stone: :stone: :stone: :stone: :stone: []

    Layer2:
    [] [] :Yellow: [] [] []
    [] [] [] [] [] [] []
    [] [] :sand: [] [] []
    [] :stone: :|: :stone: [] []
    [] :stone: :|: :stone: [] []
    [] :stone: :|: :stone: [] []
:stone: :stone: :stone: :stone: :stone: []
    Layer 3:
    [] [] [] [] [] []
    [] :stone: [] :stone: :stone: []
    [] :stone: [] :stone: [] []
    [] :stone: [] :stone: [] []
:stone: :stone: :stone: :stone: :stone: []
    [] [] [] [] [] []
    [] [] [] [] [] []

    Layer 4:
    [] [] [] [] [] []
    [] [] [] :|: [] []
    [] [] [] [] [] []
    [] [] [] [] [] []
    [] [] [] [] [] []
    [] [] [] [] [] []
    [] [] [] [] [] []

    Layer 5:
    [] [] [] [] [] []
    :stone: [] [] [] :|: []
    [] [] [] [] [] []
    [] [] [] [] [] []
    [] [] [] [] [] []
    [] [] [] [] [] []
    [] [] [] [] [] []

    Layer 6:
    [] [] [] [] [] []
    [] [] [] [] [] :stone:
    [] [] [] [] [] []
    [] [] [] [] [] []
    [] [] [] [] [] []
    [] [] [] [] [] []
    [] [] [] [] [] []

Now spam minecarts on the layer 4 track so it looks something like this:

The minecarts shouldn't move at all. (the back ones can move but it should be mostly static.) This should be around 100 minecarts.

Light the wool on fire. When the sand falls down, you should get boosted. If you don't try again. This is potentially why you need the gold block (although it is possible to launch a minecart in SSP from 0 to the top speed instantly)

You should fall through the earth. If your un-lucky, you will fall through everything and die, then get an error.
If your lucky, you may get ported somewhere unknown:

As you can see, my Y axis is NaN (not a number) as you get ported to a 2D world so you don't require an Y axis.
I tried to get out of my minecart but it didn't work, tried breaking the thing where I was, didn't work.

Also, your GUI disappears after a while.

Does anyone have any insights on why this occurs?
