Remade biomes. Biomes are now nothing like their overworld equivalent.

Seriously? The OP really needs to re-evaluate what the definition of "rare" is. Just because you barely find cows, does not make it rarer than diamonds. It just means that you don't bother searching for them and/or your don't bother counting your leather since it is "nothing special".

Even so, you can't keep using that invalid excuse just to escape from our arguments. I mean seriously? It is like you are just saying random information that is not true. Get it in your head:
    • Leather is common, you just don't find as much as you would usually spend more time mining than traversing the overworld for leather.
    • Iron is common, but programmatically not as common as leather.
    • Diamond is extremely rare.
    • Stop using your own statistics to state otherwise.
You are basing your information off your statistics, where technically, there are not true.

    #1: Efficiency V says hi.
#2: On average, you can find 4 cows every 3 biomes.
    Quote from Unilegger

    Don't they have advantages already?

Gold: Very enchantable. Easy to get high tier enchantments through low level enchanting. Applying unbreaking increases this value.

Leather: The only dyeable armor. Used to for labeling teams. Only item in the game with color mix dyeing.

#1: Nobody will enchant anything with anything other than a lvl30 or a lvl1.

#2: Isn't there a 'Team' feature in the Scoreboard system? They colour the player's nametag.

Another problem i see is that if you scaled the biomes down in the nether you would be able to hunt for a mushroom biome much easier (if they represented the biome in the overworld) but i really like the idea, what about maybe having nether specific biomes? Biomes you wouldnt find in the overworld.

#1: Yup. Provided you know which Nether biome corresponds to the Overworld mushroom biome. My plan for them is that they will not look alike.
#2: You can't find any of the Nether biomes in the Overworld. They are Nether-exclusive and are not connected to the Overworld in any way other than relative location and shape. Maybe a Nether biome known as the Insomnia (probably a biome that looks nothing like any Overworld biome) will correspond to a Forest in the overworld. The biomes do not even have to look like its Overworld equivalent.

    1. You are actually suggesting a portal system overhaul by doing the "biome mirroring"

    2. The Nether is meant to be a lifeless, cavernous, firey underworld with barely anything to make your miserable stay in there interesting except nether fortresses.

    No support.

    1. Oh yes I am.

    2. So it is supposed to be completely useless other than Nether Fortresses? Then why don't Mojang just turn the entire Nether into a big Nether Fortress?

    Quote from Walt_Disney_II

i like the idea of nether biomes but i think the nether needs biomes that are specific to it, not just recreations of over world biomes.

I don't get why biome mirroring is a bad thing. Only the biome boundaries stay the same, but scaled down. There is no real need for the Nether forest to look like a forest of any kind. As I said, the names are placeholder.

That's what I mean. I don't want a Nether that resembles the Overworld. The Nether needs to be unique.
Don't worry. The biomes will be twisted beyond recognition. It won't be a static copy of the Overworld's version with fire and brimstone.

In the end, the only thing the Nether shares in common with the Overworld will be the biome boundaries (scaled down). It will look nothing like the Overworld.

#1: That's stupid, honestly. Dying leather has the functionality of defining teams and such in minigames. Forcing a player to change their skin for a stinking minigame would be stupid.
#2. Yes, but gold is still more enchantable.

    2. Yes, enchanting IS magic. Not the materials alone. You are suggesting that the materials become magic WITHOUT enchantments.
    3. Total lies. Once I find two cows, I set up a cow cooker and get beef and leather whenever I need it. Ever. And I find two cows easily. Have you ever wondered why almost every person on the Mindcrack has a cow farm? It's cause cows are easy to find.

#1: Use the teams function in the scoreboard. You don't need to compromise a player's armor quality for a minigame.
#2: You can get on a book what you can get on gold. Furthermore, the penalty for the enchanting system being a total **** is lesser if you use books.

    2: Logic =/= Minecraft.
3: They are (relatively) easy to find. However, their low leather drop rate still mean it is rarer than diamond. Also, cows have the best food drop (most saturation restored) and are the easiest food animal to breed.

Maybe to make an armour set you need the previous set (surround leather chestplate with iron for iron chestplate etc.)

Nope. That would be too expensive, iron wise. I was thinking of placing an 'unpadded' version of the armor and the leather armor in the crafting recipe to get a wearable version of the armor. This will allow players to uncraft their old armor to get the leather padding back to pad their new armor.

Also, Golden armor does not fall in the armor hierarchy. That is a major problem with your suggestion.

    What I would do:

-Cows drop 1-4 leather instead of 0-2.

That still does not solve the problem of leather being practically useless...

I know! Maybe all armor sets higher than leather require leather armor (as padding and to make leather armor useful)?

The Nether might need some improvements, but I don't think it should mimic the Overworld. It is supposed to resemble a hellish cave, so forests and Jungles seem a little weird to me. I think I'd rather have the current Nether.
    No support.

It is a hellish forest and a hellish jungle. Kind of like the Overworld, but infinitely more hellish.

That wouldn't be the case anymore. Someone building a portal in the desert biome could easily end up in the river biome.
I am sure there will be a bit of Desert next to the River biome.

Besides, crazy stuff like a stronghold chewed up by caves exist.

All biomes in Minecraft are handled the same. Imagine your having 80blocks of desert, 10 wide river and 80 blocks of plains. If you were to scale that down to 10 blocks of desert, 10 for the river and 10 plains, the nether biomes would be off by quite a bit.
I know. It is supposed to look off. After all, it is another dimension.

We need more high end armour, Minecraft is too easy.
Improving low tier armour will only make it even more so.

No support. We need more armour and end game items, not to improve the opposite.

Not if you make an incredibly efficient leather farm.

You can farm leather, you can't farm diamonds. Especially with looting 3.

#1: Since mobs do not scale with player armor, wouldn't it make Minecraft even easier?

#2: Use villager blacksmiths and a ridiculously big emerald farm (a sugarcane farm and a Librarian).

If you do not scale down all of the biomes, it would create an offset of biomes increasing with distance from the center of the map.

Main biomes = Anything that is not a technical biome.

Technical biomes are things like cliffs and rivers to make the terrain look nice. Therefore, they do not need to be scaled down.

However, main biomes will be scaled down.

It's an interesting concept, but the problem I see is the 1:8 ratio.
Since some biomes and sub-biomes (such as a river) are already small in the Overworld, they would be pointlessly small in the Nether.

It sounds interesting on paper, but probably wouldn't work well when implemented.

Only main biomes are scaled down.
