Yeahno? You kinda pulled that one out of nowhere. You didn't really give a counterargument, you just misinterpreted my post and dived straight into "You think all tutorials in any game are pointless" without covering anything I said. Honestly, there was no reason for that.

The amount of things that can be done in the game is absolutely staggering. Sprinkling some crafting recipes here and there isn't gonna lift a new player into a knowledge godhood.

Figuring out the crafting recipe for an item is pure guesswork unless you check a wiki. This game does not have a 'Guide' NPC, nor will it fit at all.

Assuming every player simply go to a wiki to check stuff out, there is no need for a tutorial in any game since that player can just go to XXX wiki to find out stuff.

Your argument that 'there is a Wiki and therefore this is useless' is similar to the argument that tutorials are useless because 'there is a Wiki'.

This would be a complete waste of time to implement. Once the player knows the recipe, they'll be a waste of space from that point on. The internet is overwhelmed with tutorials and guides. If a player badly wants to know how things work, they'll just go straight to the wiki or any other guide that google throws up - this will happen with or without your item recipe things.

So in-game tutorials are worthless in every single game?

    Okay.

Crafting in MC is brainless. Once you make something, you know it forever. The only time something like this is useful is for mods like Gregtech which has stupidly complex crafting. But I don't think text descriptions is the way to do it.

    The text is a placeholder.

    NO!

You gain experience by mining, smelting, killing and much more. You use your experience for enchanting, and why enchanting gives you experience too?

Please think twice, or we can gain level by died!

He meant a reduction of XP spent per enchant with the minimum XP requirements left intact. This is a feature already in the game.

    Kind Of Useless (KOU)

Minecraft is mostly unplayable for someone who do not check the Wiki. The achievement system does alleviate the dependence of the Wiki a little, and this should remove most of the dependency.

This is mostly a feature for new players.

That's like getting Sharpness 4 and Unbreaking 3 from a level 15 enchantment. Copletely unbalanced!

    No support, ever.

He meant you spend 15 points on a lvl 30 enchantment, but you still need lvl 30.

Crafting recipes for items could be found in naturally generated item frames or chests placed wherever Mojang wants to place them. This could alleviate the need of a wiki to check recipes.

P.S. I would like to learn how to make this less 'vague'.

Could you elaborate on that or even suggest improvements? "I don't like the way you changed these aspects", how is the OP to know what to do to make you like the way he/she changed the aspects? I understand that you emphasized on no stamina, but what else, why don't you like velocity?

He is a trollsack He does this on every single thread.

First of all, this would be really hard to implement. I don't know any games in which you can literally talk to someone anytime you want.

And like the above said, random people you don't know can just speak to you out of nowhere.

    #1: DOTA
#2: It could be a toggled feature

Yes, but Command blocks are Mapmaking only, so only teh people who actively use them actually get involved with them. A new combat mechanic would really affect gameplay, more then command blocks.

You are complaining about the suggestion attempting to improve what you consider a 'side feature'. If you play on peaceful, the combat change should not affect you. If you fight 1 mob at a time, the change will be noticeable but will not make the game a lot harder unless you are already bad at the game (you can still swing your sword as long as you keep moving back when the zombie is attacking you).

Besides, think of all the minecart traps we could make with this velocity-based combat change (yes, you could ram people with a fast minecart. The velocity transfer/damage is not limited to living mobs).

This idea just complicates combat more than making it fun. Hunger is already our stamina, the last thing we need is another energy bar but one that can't be seen. And come on, seriously? Taking damage by running into walls? Why do we want that..?

The energy bar should not come into play unless you fight a ton of mobs or run at full speed (very fast and OP). You will not take damage from running into walls unless you are going very fast/got knocked back into a wall at a high speed.
    Quote from EnderCreeper168

While Minecraft's combat system desperately needs an update, I don't think it should be one as major as this one. Combat is still not even close to being on of Minecraft's main gameplay mechanics, and it never should be.

    No support.

I see why not. Command blocks are not one of Minecraft's gameplay mechanics, yet they get a big update. Besides, it should be pretty simple in execution (go faster to chop more heads but don't go too fast or you will crash into a wall).

I suppose it could use Gravel for ammo, deal ~10 hearts of damage but take really long to reload.

It could serve as a short-ranged bow (in case your sword is too short and your bow takes too long to charge) in combat.

Maybe it could be enchanted so that it can hold more charges before running out of them?

Truthfully this for my opinion is a very bad idea heres a few reasons

-It is easily abused as the new EULA really hates the Pay- to - Win for servers ??? I don't think this is a Pay to Win feature.

-It is too complicated, comeon this game was made so 6 year old kids could play :P (No offense to young peeps) Portal is another easily understandable game, yet it uses physics and stuff. You do not need to know most laws of physics to take advantage of this combat system, since we all know that if we go too fast, we will hurt ourselves if we hit something. We also know that we can hurt ourselves if a train hits us.

-Many games have ideas like this... so its kinda Copy - Paste The only game I can think of that uses proper physics rather than scripted events in combat is Mount and Blade, and even that game does not support physics-based vertical combat.

BUT! I REALLY WOULD WANT IT IN A MOD CAN YOU MAKE THAT MOD?

This should answer everyone's concerns about complications.
    Quote from block2311

I support this idea, I do feel we need a better combat system. I wish I could test it out, since I do want to know the feel of the new combat system, could you make any comparisons to other games that may share similar combat?

Mount and Blade features a similar momentum-based combat system (more pronounced for horses).
