Im SlackfulSheep and I am currently starting a survival world that I will put 100% effort into and on Youtube. Reason Im posting this thread is because I would like several other individuals to help and join the fun. I believe this will be for the greater experience for all of us :). Note that this is NOT Realms, although when I obtain a job soon, if everything is running smoothly, I will aquire one. I would like to expect mature and respectful behavior from each individual I choose and hopefully we could be able to create an amazing world. Does PE have a global mobcap? You might be suffering from that, on top of all the usual problems that typically crop up with grinders:

1)lighting up, or otherwise spawnproofing, caves. Being that you have built your grinder at ground level, this means that almost all the spawning spaces are either on the surface or buried underground in unlit caves. 256 blocks by 256 blocks by 60ish blocks is a really, really huge area to conquer, so you pretty much haven't gotten anywhere near close to lighting up non-grinder spawning spaces. Given that 10% of all chunks are flagged as slime chunks, it's likely that you're always within range of at least one slime chunk or will momentarily bring one within range as you wander around. Slimes in slime chunks can spawn in any light level, so you'll need to use an alternate spawnproofer in that part of the chunk (slabs, leaves, rails, etc)

2)mobs don't jump willingly to their injuries (fall damage), so while some mobs on the lower floor will eventually walk off into the water the ones on the second floor are not going to recognize that water negates fall damage and therefore will avoid walking off the edge. Line the edges of the platforms with trapdoors to trick the mob AI into thinking there's a solid surface to walk on and they'll rush to their deaths like lemmings.

3)does PE have render distance? Is it affected by the same render-distance bug that plagues the java version? This bug occurs when you set it to below 10. The game keeps the amount of chunks loaded that render distance=10 shows you, but when you lower this setting to below 10 the game simply shows you less. The rest of the chunks are "lazy" which means processes like redstone or entity-ticking (ie, mob AI) don't work at all. The game knows the mobs are there, but since nothing about those mobs are being processed it means the mobs will not despawn. This, in turn, means more and more of the mob cap gets locked away from the player until eventually no more mobs are able to spawn (they're all in the lazy chunks)
