To be honest I think a flying feature would be hella useful. In 256x256x256 maps it takes like, 3-4 minutes to get to the top xD

    I trust that.

    Thanks for settling my mind.

Yeah I wouldn't have been on IRC at all, I tend not to use it. But now you've highlighted this I'm more comfortable buying it.

Gantz worded his post wrong and is thus getting owned for it.

Choose a better choice of words next time, Gantz :smile.gif:

I'm still trying to justify the spending of €9 on a game as simple as Minecraft, and seeing how the only advantage is custom skins ( and I'll probably end up making a penis skin and using that for my whole time playing minecraft ) it doesn't seem worth it.

If Notch said "I'll give you your money back if I don't complete the game" then I'll go and buy it now. Hell, I'll probably buy 2 copies.

As far as I know I have no guarantee if he'll finish the game or not.

What if ( sorry Notch ) he gets hit by a bus tomorrow and dies?

Sure it's just €9, but I'm 15, I have no income, and I'm too lazy to work for pocket money. So that €9 could go towards a lot more than a dead mans alpha game.

And after all this I'll still probably buy it within the next few days.

    >_>

I believe there are options for custom firmware, but in truth I do not know. The program is just a shortcut/easy way to port forward. You should be able to do it yourself.

Bump... As people aren't posting in this I want to keep it close to the top :smile.gif:

I've received several emails and gotten in contact with a few people on MSN, so far it's been successful for all of them.

Thanks for the positive feed back (via email)!

If you check my tutorial ( http://minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?id=836 ) There are some nifty tools that can help make sure you've portforwarded right.

Are you sure you forwarded the right port?

    And to the right IP?

If this does not work for you and you cannot get it to work, search on google for how to port forward for your type of router. Just remember to use the minecraft ports.

After trying to find an easy way to port forward and make a server, I discovered an element that made my life easier.

First of all, download the minecraft server stuff.

    http://minecraft.net...raft-server.zip
    -MOD EDIT-
    Correct link is here: http://www.minecraft.net/download

Now say hello to your new best friend:

    http://www.pcwintech...port-forwarding

Download this program and you're one step closer to being awesome.

    ---------------------------

Once you've downloaded this program, install it and run it. You may be prompted for admin access if you're running vista. You should see something like this.

From the "Router" dropdown, select your router. It should be there, if it isn't try clicking "Tools > Update Database". If that doesn't work, you'll have to enter your router IP, Username and password manually. Normally the IP will be 192.168.0.1, the username "admin" and the password "password" or "admin".

    So select your router...

And next right-click on the white space and click "Add new"

    Click the "Custom" tab.

Now under name type whatever. I have "Mcrft".

Under type, set it to "TCP/UDP".

Now for the start port, type "25565" and the same for the end port.

The IP address should be auto-detected, and if it isn't, click the red icon next to it. Now click "Add".

Now click "update router", and a popup should come up and display what it's doing, whilst adding the new port to your router.

    You're almost there...

Now click "Tools > Windows firewall port exceptions > add current ports list".

    Now get this program:

    http://portforward.c...p/portcheck.htm

Download and install that, then run it:

Under the port type "25565" and then make sure TCP is selected, and click "check port"

    If all goes well:

Next check the UDP port and click Check and the same thing should be displayed. If you are presented with RED text, saying it is not open and is unreachable, you've done something wrong. Go back and make sure you've done it all right.

    Next step is server config.

Go into your minecraft server folder and find the "server.properties" file. Open it with notepad and you should see:

    Change "Verify-names=true" to "verify-names=false".
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mod Edit: DO NOT CHANGE THIS TO FALSE UNLESS YOU CANNOT CONNECT TO YOUR SERVER AND HAVE EXHAUSTED OTHER POSSIBILITIES. SETTING THIS TO FALSE OPENS UP A VULNERABILITY FOR ACCOUNT STEALING.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Leave the port.

Change the max players if you like.

    Change the server name.

Change public to "false" if you don't want random people joining.

Change the motd (this is displayed when someone connects to the server).

And I dunno about the max connections so let someone else explain that to you xD

Save and close, now run "start server.bat".

Everything should load up A-OKAY. You're now ready to play with friends! But wait, one more thing you should know...

When you want someone else to join your server, give them the URL that is inside the text file "Externalurl".

This is how OTHER PEOPLE JOIN. YOU CANNOT JOIN WITH THIS URL.

For YOU to join, connect with this url:

    http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?ip=12 ... port=25565

You can now play with your friends on your own server :)
