If I want games that are fun, I'll fire up my Wii U, Gamecube, or SNES.

That's the bit I personally do not see a appeal for the Wii U or Wii when it released.

If I want to play games that are fun which were made by Nintendo or at least released exclusively on a Nintendo platform I will play NES through Gamecube versions of those games which are arguably better then their newer successors.

Also $2600? Jesus, what the hell do you have that would require that much money, a Fully built system from 2011 would get you a 580 and a i5 2500k SSD/HDD, monitor, peripherals etc for just under $1500! Unless that counts your library costs

    Quality or Free

Pick one. The two do not coexist for a MMO that requires server upkeep plus content patching/tweaking.

If you do happen to get through the entire QA process that Nintendo is notorious for against third parties. There's an initial fee to even submit your game prior to the QA process and then afterwards you have to pay off (or usually cut share of sales) with Nintendo just like you would with any retailer or gaming platform.

Microsoft platform or of course PC platform would be the better more reliable option...

That's less "difficulty" and more "the game basically requires a wiki to play".

More like patience and exploration. A practice that is being lost in RPGs these days with auto guidence quest objective icons ahem,, Skyrim..

Nintendo has NEVER been for "extreme gamers". The fact is that Sony "invented" Extreme Gamers, and then carved out a niche by appealing to the type of personality that wants to identify as an "extreme" gamer, same with the xbox.

Not that Sony was the first to do it. Sega already did the same thing with the Genesis, but Sony went out and straight-up said that the SNES and the Genesis/Megadrive were just kiddie toys (Their commercial said something along the lines of "All boys much eventually grow into men" while showing a Sega Genesis and a SNES being tossed into a bin).

Nintendo games made by Nintendo were always cartoony, Mario bros shrooming up and then becoming flying cats in 3 with dinosaurs in the next one thats always been the case and sadly Nintendo hasn't innovated much from that. Problem is they do not work with third party publishers as much as they use too instead as people here pointed out various times the only games why someone would get one is because its being developed by Nintendo. Either it be Pikmin 3, Mario Kart 8, or Super Smash Brothers.

Great console, great controller, good games. Too bad Nintendo doesn't think so anymore and try to strive for a gamecube 2.0 and instead went the Wii route.

I should point out that the whole "The Wii U is failing" or doing poorly against it's competition is not actually based on any released sales figures but entirely based on a few anecdotal reports from employees at shops like GameStop. Hardly strong evidence. Considering that many of the same publications ran Articles around this time frame after the Wii's Launch about how it was an abysmal failure and it turned out to have outshone both PS3 and XBox 360 by a wide margin. (I think it sold more than both combined, in fact).

Nintendo President stated that the target sales has been 70% less then what they projected originally. Thats not gamespot employees...

    Plus

Nintendo can't pull the same thing again like they did the Wii, people bought it but very few played beyond that 4 hour seession you thought it would be fun with friends/family it or had the other systems as well. Why they thought the idea of a portable tablet being tied to a home setting was a good idea and not go future and make it so the pad was an completely independent system you could take anywhere is also a flaw in their design.

posted a message on Do you think Mario Kart 8 will help the Wii U in sales?
    666% increase in the UK.

The platform still has been considered to be a failure by Nintendo due to the amount of sales not even reaching half of what they "expected" to begin with.

So yes it has helped the Wii U sales but does it really mean its a good platform? Clearly not when the only IP's are the in house run of the mill Nintendo franchises.

There just isn't any hope for Nintendo to get ahead of what they originally planned without openly accepting third party publishers that go beyond the "ports" of current generation games, they have the minor benefits down that mainly being cheaper (although you're getting less compared to the others) and doesn't require a subscription for online play.

But Nintendo can continue to feed of their nostalgic train as they have for almost two decades now and focus on their own titles and make it a nightmare for someone new to step in without terrible content control.
