May 23, 2012Skaro posted a message on An Interesting Plugin Manager; An Interesting Mob Farming MethodPosted in: NewsQuote from Juze
I don't want to start an argument over this, but you should probably know GroupManager has liven past its age and is no longer supported. You should move on to PermissionsEx or bPermissions. I prefer PEX.
Essentials is also one of the oldest plugins made for Bukkit, and poorly coded. I'd recommend to switch to CommandBook.
Not sure what's up with the interest in PlugMan in these comments, since it's also really old like I said earlier.
Essentials with groupmanager may be as old as bukkit, but that doesn't matter, its still one of the best plugins out there. They aren't going to stop coding due to age, many people still use it, as I still will.
The way you act is as if NoCheat users should just "Move on" and code their own hack stopping plugins.
I'll use the plugins I wish, you use the ones you wish.
FYI, commandbook is made by the same as essentials, but is lacking many commands from essentials. -
May 23, 2012Skaro posted a message on An Interesting Plugin Manager; An Interesting Mob Farming MethodMeh, I have 2 servers, and play on another. We all are just fine with essentials/groupmanager.Posted in: News
This plugin could be useful to those who don't understand how to use groupmanager though, it took me a while.
The way I got my permissions right(I have one bukkit/essentials server, and one vanilla, then the one I play on is bukkit/essentials too.) is I removed all the groups/permissions, Deleting "G:Bukkit_admin" etc, but keeping builder, default, admin, etc, then I added each and every permission as I wanted them. -

What you fail to understand is, with your ports open, ANYONE can access your network. WIth EASE. You can't just go, OH stay open just for minecraft.. when it is open.. it is open to anyone and everyone. Anyone can get your network and use it as a mirror for whatever, among many other things. Using open ports, or port forwards, is dangerous. Simply put.
Alright. Prove it.
When forwarding ports to your computer it is very exact and safe.
As long as you don't allow ALL connections, you are fine.
My computer allows minecraft access.
If your issue is with people coming on your single player and griefing you, then whitelist it, or don't port forward, as you seem pretty paranoid about it.
As my computer is right now, nobody can just go access my registry files or watch my browsing through my minecraft access.
Learn how computers work. -

don't install this update!! the mcwiki changelog states that it will delete your texture pack folder, and ruin any enchantments.
I backed up my texture packs, but it didn't even delete them.
I started a new world so I didn't have to worry about losing my enchants.
Always run a test world, or a backup when running dev builds. -
May 3, 2012Skaro posted a message on Snapshot 12w18a Is Here For Testing!Whatever, I still have my game port forwarded, and I am very happy being able to play on my server with friends without hamachi. Your not gonna get a hax0r Ddos worm attack by opening ports to minecraft, thats just being a paranoid noob.Posted in: News
Port forwarding really isn't that hard, I found out my ports were correctly forwarded, I just hadn't allowed minecraft through windows firewall.
I don't know why I had to do that, I never had before, I am lucky I am in an IT college class, or I probably never would have known to do that. -

I think Jeb should add the zoom controlls in 1.2. why would he remove them? ;\
They are "Deadmau5 controls" Only for the minecraft user/dubstep artist Deadmua5
And as a response to people saying "I hope this isn't forced.." Nobody forces you to update your minecraft. It prompts you when you are using an outdated client, but simply use backups, and hit "no" When it asks to update.
I have a 1.7.3 minecraft.jar that comes in quite handy.
I personally love all the updates, this one is strange and unexpected, but I still like the idea.
SMP and SSP being essentially the same? Hell yeah!
If it wasn't too dangerous to do so, minecraft should automatically port forward so noobs(like me, just fixed my port forwarding today, been broken since 1.1) can have their friends on their "server" without using hamachi.
And there can be a command in single player to unlist, or go offline, so not just anybody can connect, or better yet, whitelist your single player server. -
May 3, 2012Skaro posted a message on Snapshot 12w18a Is Here For Testing!So...anyone know how to use bukkit+plugins on singleplayer with this? ;PPosted in: News

Apr 29, 2012Skaro posted a message on Change Your Minecraft Name? Possibly In The FuturePosted in: NewsQuote from ZerkosTheGreat
Changing name means losing your player.dat file on the servers you play on, meaning you lose your money on a roleplay server or even the inventory.
You mean editing 3 numbers off a file? That is so much work!
EDIT: That post was kind of rude, I apologize.
I am on a server that has had over 3k users join, and we have an average of about 20 people on.
It can get up to 42 every 2-3 days, but through various times of the day, the amount on fluctuates. We have our regulars, and only 5-10% would probably go for a name change, it would be an hours' worth of work, then done.
The servers with the most people to be honest, are cracked servers that have 300 slots. Then you can take it as punishment, for those who haven't paid for the game, then the ones that wanted a name change(for a non premium account, on a cracked server, really?) can deal with starting over.
Most servers are never that full, and even then, it isn't too hard to edit some player files. It is about as much work as /nick playername playernick - To post a comment, please login.

Anyhow, 1.7 was kind of tough since there was so much changed that tons of modders just gave up. 1.8 doesn't sound like it will be any kinder. I was not a fan of hunger when 1.8 beta came out, but I came to love it by 1.0.0. The upcoming 1.8 features a complete enchanting overhaul, which screws up some minigames and such which will be quite annoying. It makes enchanting easier, but at the same time makes it annoyingly easy. I still have yet to test it, so I'll see how that turns out when it comes.
We will just have to wait and see what minecraft will become when 1.8 is released.

I can't disable auto tab searching
matches won't highlight
filters won't accept random text
chat logs clear upon restarting the client.
/hub doesn't work on shotbow, but it works on other servers
I am not sure if these are known, or if I am the only one experiencing these.
To explain the filters thing..I am trying to filter my deaths in annihilation on shotbow to another tab, but I can't seem to do it properly. The format is "Creative_DaleK(RandomClass) was killed by RandomPlayer(RandomClass)"

This could be related to my problem..I am having issues with the /hub command on a server I play. Of all the commands they have, /hub is the only one that won't work. It comes to me as command not found.

So can we allow for a higher chatlines limit, or do I have to use filters to even out the chat here and there to make it so I can read everything if I have been afk for an hour?

It's fine. I didn't expect to be able to run shaders. I can play normal minecraft at 80+FPS, with it frequently going over 100 though. I can run 128x resolution texture packs at decent speeds, so long as I do not run out of memory. Most of normal minecraft stuff my computer can run, but when it gets to high-end modifications, but my laptop craps out on me. I'll get a gaming computer one day. c:

I am used to improved chat or Vr-chatmods allowing for 10k+ lines to be saved. 100 is way too little for my purposes.
