I am not sure if this kind of feature is possible, but just thinking out loud here...
With the new LAN connectivity, maybe connections of players to single player worlds as well as joining servers?
Does that make sense?

You have no idea how much I support this idea. I came into minecraft when it was around version Beta 1.3. The floating islands, epic mountains biomes, and extreme caves brought me to love the game for what it was in a completely exploration aspect. For the longest time I only explored the epic landscape to take it all in. I only wish I wasn't such a noob then and new what the "F2" key did.
I started getting more into minecraft around Beta 1.6 when the world generator was already taking a turn for the worst. This project should without a doubt be coded into the game and made a solid feature.

I really like the skins for the guards and some other npcs. where can i get them? i looked around in the mod files and no luck

dude, you only copied textures from the faithful texture pack (in my signature) and edited some, seriously edit atleast 75 % of the textures

anyone know of any mods that do this? i would be totally down for this idea if it was in the GUI options menu, rather than a key. but i could deal with it (much better than the mods that you have to type in a command, which i refuse)

im looking for a mod that gives you the option to have it on or off. kind of a on/off switch

i think you should, but have a limit. like, you can only change it every 6 months or whatever, so you cant just spam the mojang servers
