I stared at Hannah's corpse in disbelief, i had only known this girl for three and a half days, but her company was what kept me going. I was intent of taking care of her, giving her a better life, but like everything else, the Apocalypse took her from me. I lowered my gun nodded my head and slowly turned back towards the group, they stared at me and Hannah's body. "We- we should do something... We shou- I was interrupted by someone patting their hand on my shoulder. I stood and watched the other survivors talk.

I glanced over at Alicia, her expression was firm. "Well... anyway, you guys wouldn't mind if i stayed here tonight. I just wan't to make sure Hannah's not- I paused looking down at Hannah, her eyes were wide open and pale. "Holy ****!" I exclaimed. Hannah had been bitten and died of infection. I was in total shock. I slowly pulled out my pistol, i could feel my heart pounding.

I looked at Alicia plainly, i wondered how old she was, how did she encounter this group, then i realized what my original goal was. "Well, i think me and Hannah should leave... We're heading out to Gold Rush, you can come with us if you want, we have supplies, a comfortable van, and some company would be nice." I said to the group. I looked over to the left of the room and noticed a limp child like body. "I think i found Allan.
"As far as i know, and that's limited, Felix passed out." I responded. I looked over at Alicia, she was staring at Felix. "Were... were you two close?" I asked cautiously, i didn't know these people but i wanted to at least let them know that i'm caring.
"So... who are you exactly?" I asked shyly stepping forward a little, trying to see who this person was. I received my paper towels from someone in a construction hat. As i did, I looked over at someone who had covered their face in toilet paper. I looked back towards the person who puked, she looked like a teenager.
I cringed at the sight of vomit. "Here i have some paper towels" I said removing a roll of paper towels from my bag and handing it to the person. "So... who are you guys? What's your name and whats going on?"
I watched as another survivor fell unconscious, someone held the child and placed him on a couch. "Anyone else injured?" Someone asked. "Hannah might be." I responded.
"Hey no problem- I panted heavily- and my names John Collins, nice to meet you." I said extending my right arm and receiving a handshake. "Do you mind if i set her down?" I asked. The man shook his head and i walked over to a separate couch and laid her down gently. "So who's this on the couch?" I asked looking at a girl laying on another couch.
As i drove the van towards the house, i saw people firing at the walkers. When i reached the house, i opened my door and jumped out with my pistol. I fired at the approaching walkers as i sprinted towards the porch of the house. When i entered the house, i was greeted by several other survivors. I helped the survivors hold off the walkers, when i heard a loud scream. "****! I forgot Hannah." I exclaimed. I sprinted out of the house and back towards the van. I fired at the walkers approaching me from my left and right. When i reached the van, i opened Hannah's side door and carried her out. I quickly sprinted back to the house, and looked at the other survivors. Hannah had passed out and i breathing heavily. I looked over at a man wearing a construction hat who greeted me.
Two days had passed now and me and Hannah had made it out of Atlanta. We sat in the black mini van together and looked at a map. The map had labeled a nearby prison and a farm owned by the Greene family. I pulled into a nearby parking lot and looked over at Hannah. "It's getting dark outside, we should probably rest." I said tiredly. She nodded and i grabbed my backpack from under my seat. We folded down the back seats and laid out our sleeping bags, i had found another while traveling in Atlanta. We got inside the sleeping bags and attempted to sleep when a loud scream rang out nearby. I sat up in my bag and looked around. To the left was a house surrounded by walkers. "What the- A walker started banging on the side window and Hannah grabbed my arm.
"What the ****!" I exclaimed pulling out my gun and rolling down the window. The walker flung his arms in and i rolled the window up, crushing his flailing arms. I aimed the gun at the walkers head through a wide enough crack and fired. The walker collapsed, his arms still hanging inside. I rolled the window down and the walker completely collapsed to the floor now. Hannah's grip loosened and i noticed that the yelling had abruptly ended. I glanced over at the house, the walkers had dispersed and the door was open. I looked over at Hannah who was starring at me. "Shou- should we check it out?" She asked. I slowly nodded and got out of my sleeping bag. "Go ahead and get some rest okay, i'll check it out." I said. I started the van up again and drove towards the house.
I awoke the next day, feeling slightly groggy. Hannah was still asleep, I looked at my watch: 6:30 A.M. I stretched and walked over to the ledge. Several walkers had accumulated around the bottom. The sound of a helicopter slowly reached my ears and i looked to the left. A helicopter was flying over the city. My instincts told my to get the helicopters attention, so i yelled and made waving motions, nothing happened. The helicopter passed through the city and the group of walkers at the bottom followed suite. Where were they going i asked myself. Hannah had awoken and walked over to my side. "What's- she yawned- going on?" She asked. I didn't want to upset her. "Nothing, just- looking." She looked forward and turned her glance back to me. "At what?" She asked curiously. "I- The sound of four gunshot's rang out through the city followed by screams. Hannah grabbed my right arm tightly. "It's okay." I said.
I rolled up the sleeping bag, placed it into my backpack and grabbed my pistol. I climbed down the ladder, Hannah followed and we slowly stepped out onto the street, looking left and right. Hannah screamed and i quickly turned to her, gun raised at the head of a slowly approaching walker. I fired three times at the head and the walker collapsed. Hannah was breathing heavily, tears started to form and i quickly placed my arm around her. "It's okay, he's dead now." She nodded and whipped her eyes. I pulled a small pistol from my bag and handed it to her. "Do you know how to use this?" I asked. "N-no." She responded shaking her head. She slowly grabbed the pistol and placed it in her hoodie pocket. "Don't worry, i'll teach you how to use it later, just follow me, okay." She nodded and i turned forward again.
I shrugged off the sound of the gunfire and turned back towards the girl. Her bright green eyes starred intently at me. I motioned for her to sit down next to my backpack. I sat down next to her and pulled out an energy bar and a bottle of water and handed it to her. She ate the energy bar slowly and smiled to herself. When she began to drink the water, she looked up at the sky. "I- i never figured it'd come to this, you know?" She said. "Yeah, i know." I slowly Responded. The sky slowly began to darken and i figured that we'd get some rest. I pulled the little sleeping bag from my backpack and unrolled it. "Here, you can sleep in it." I said. "Are- are you sure?" She responded. "Yeah." She slipped inside the bag and looked over at me. "What about you, where will you sleep?" I glanced over at her. "I'll keep watch." She nodded and closed her eyes. I sat on the floor and looked over at Hannah.
I hear a faint hello and place my book down. I peer over the ledge of the roof and notice a redheaded female walking around. "Hey, up here!" I yell. She looked up at me and shyly waved. I motioned for her to come to where i was. I guided her with directions on how to get to the roof. When she made it, i noticed that she was crying. She approached me for a hug and i awkwardly accepted. I didn't know who this girl was, but for some reason, a hug from a complete stranger felt comforting. The girl wore an over sized hoodie and sweatpants. "So... whats your name?" I awkwardly asked. "Hann- Hannah." She responded. I slowly nodded my head and responded. "My names John." I said extending my right arm. She shook my hand with her clammy right hand. "Are- are you sick?" I slowly asked. Hannah nodded her head. "Were you bitten?" The girl slowly shook her head. I heard the sound of distant gunshots and turned towards the noise.
