Backstory- Ryan had an average life growing up. Born and raised in Southern California to his single mother and two other siblings, Ryan was the youngest of his family. At an early age, Ryan began to associate with less than reputable individuals. He fell into drug usage and started dealing marijuana to his peers. After spending various amounts of time on probation after being caught, Ryan went through rehabilitation. While on his way to recovery, he relapsed at his friends' party. Falling back into his old habits, Ryan affiliated himself with a gang. After being kicked out of his house by his mother for being under the influence of marijuana, Ryan was forced to move into an apartment with his friends and drop out of college. While on a drug deal, Ryan was caught up in a gang war with a rivaling African-American only group, resulting in the deaths of most of his gang and the murder of six aggressors. When discovered, Ryan was arrested almost immediately and put on trial with the surviving members of his gang. Ryan and his two other associates were convicted and sentenced to life in prison at Alcatraz for the murder of six individuals, the theft of a car in 2016, and the distribution of marijuana, cocaine, and ecstasy.

Inspired by the likes of "American Horror Story" and various spooky tales, "An Original Horror Series" is designed to shadow stories told from the perspectives of various individuals. For simple purposes, this Role-play is made for those who are interested in fast-paced story-telling and character development. This is the first installment to an Original Horror Series.

    ALCATRAZ

The year is 2018 and you are among the many convicts locked away in the infamous Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary. Reopened and renovated since its closure in 1963 by a private company in 2012, Alcatraz has returned to its shinning infamy as the central prison for enemies of the United States. With the likes of serial killers, gangsters, terrorists, and major drug dealers, you are among the many who have committed a crime so serious that the Government has deemed you unfit for society. But behind the walls of Alcatraz, the living are not alone. Former spirits of deceased convicts roam the halls, haunting current inhabitants. A secret made in hell corrupts the infrastructure of the security and a taunting barrier of water keeps the inmates from society. Will you survive Alcatraz or will you join the ghosts of the past?

For information regarding Alcatraz, follow this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcatraz_Federal_Penitentiary

Since being reopened in 2012, Alcatraz has been modernized, but has stayed true to its classic outline. Modern security systems have been implemented to keep prisoners at bay. All prisoners arrive by means of a boat. Supplies are delivered weekly on a separate boat. "Lights Out" is at 10 P.M. Breakfast, lunch, and dinners are served in a cafeteria, but may be served in cell depending on the severity of an individual's crime. Prison uniforms are a classic Alcatraz denim blue.

    The Planet of the Apes

In this Apocalyptic Scenario, you are thrust into a World that is ruled inherently by our Primate Overlords. Sure this concept idea sounds like it's been scraped from the 'Planet of the Apes' movie franchise, but this story-line is simply meant to serve as a separate incarnation of a world ruled by Apes. Now as you may know, thanks to science and stuff, Primates are the closest living mammal to humans; sharing approximately 98% of DNA with us. Anyways, in this world(Earth), Apes have taken over. As to how remains unknown, but it is speculated that Primate researchers somehow increased the Ape's cognitive function past the typical "four year old" thinking level. Due to this, the apes started experiencing an urge to diverge ;) from the humans. After a war that spanned twenty-some years, the birthrate of Primates in several continents significantly increased. They progressively evolved and adapted to the climates of Northern America, Southern America, Europe, and so on.
Over the span of these war-stricken years, the Apes have developed their own complex system of sign-language. They work together in sophisticated tribes and effectively use Human-made weapons to aid in their conquest, their conquest being to overthrow the Human Empire to escape Primate oppression. The ultimate goal of the Primates is to achieve Ape dominance and stabilize over the Humans for the sole purpose of achieving peace for themselves.

There are four main species of Apes, the Gorillas, Bonobos, Orangutans, and the Chimpanzees. All four Apes coincide together in their established tribes. These tribes clash with the remaining groups of Humans spread throughout the world. Both sides have been pushing to gain stability in their regions. Humans often work together in well organized groups and form practical militia's. Apes work together in separate tribes. They roam most of the continents in a similar fashion as the Mongols.
Because of the twenty-year war with the Primates, the former Human society has collapsed, causing a struggle to create a stable government. Cities are now overrun by the Apes and the vegetation that has reclaimed civilization. Production of foods has halted, forcing the Humans to return to a hunter-gatherer technique of obtaining food. Gasoline cars no longer function due to the cession of Oil mining. Same goes with Aeronautical and boating vehicles. Most Apes and Humans either travel on foot or by horse unless a car with a separate method of obtaining energy has been found. Guns and Ammo are scarce due to a lack on manufacturing, though bullet production has gone up in part due to Humans efforts. Primates have learned simple methods to make weapons and tools such as Bows and Arrows, Spears, etc.
In summation, everything has reverted back to a more primitive method of day to day life. As Humans and Apes struggle to maintain power, nature slowly reclaims the Earth from the destructive nature of mankind.
In this Role-play, you can decide which group you side with. Either the Humans or the Primates. As the story progresses, the players actions impact the war between both sides. This is in some ways a Soap-Opera Role-play and a Strategy Role-play. Your actions will matter in deciding the outcome of the story-line.

((Conventional rules apply to this role-play in the sense that I was hoping the remaining veterans of these forums would play on this thread and not the casuals. I'll add some rules to help stabilize these problems.))

    New Chapter:
    Unrest in California

It peaks ahead, up in the distance, not too far, but yet so far away. A shambling of pre-war buildings left behind like fossils from the Old World paints the landscape, creating an urban foliage. Scrapings of paint curled off the colorful buildings whose salmon-pink concrete blocked structuring brought forth unrecognized vibrancy to the war-torn area. It was a marvel left behind for those of the New California Republic to gaze upon, left behind wonders of the Old World for them, it was an interesting gathering and collection of history. When the sun hit the rooftops of these buildings; it glimmered in the distance like a forgotten treasure of gold. A plethora of pigeons fluttered overhead, their white bodies dripping color into the surprisingly blue sky. Even though the area was beautiful with vibrant colors of repainted constructions; an atmosphere of uncertainty and suspense kept building.
Standing amongst a clutter of tan, fabricated military tents stood Steven. Steven gazes and squints in the sunlight as he looks onward to a collection of soldiers near a large tent. They stood wielding their Service Rifles, ready to strike a killing blow at any second. These were the NCR Minute Men who were stationed around the surrounding areas to help secure a position in a rebel inhabited area. However today they weren’t ready to kill; they were ready to guard. What they were guarding was vital; it wasn’t an artifact of the olden days. They were guarding a peace conference being held in San Francisco to discuss the matter of a civil war at hand. Where men gathered to argue, to bargain, to discuss a matter that had shaken California and its new government that kept democracy in balance.
Among these Minute Men stood Steven and a few members from his platoon. There they stood watch alongside another collection of respectable service men. A trail of sweat expelled from Steven’s forehead as the warm sun and nervousness beat down on him. He quickly wipes away the forming sweat and sniffs the dry air. Looking to his friend in service, Kowalski; Steven breaks the awkward silence that had resided over the collection of tents.
“Hey, can I bum a cig?” Steven asks.
Nodding, Kowalski reaches into his jacket pocket and retrieves a small red and white striped packet of cigarettes. He swipes one from the pack and steadily hands it to Steven who intercepts it and removes his lighter from his back pocket. Steven quickly lights the cigarette and plunges it between his lips. Inhaling, he feels the burning ash and smoke trickle down his throat. He hears a faint, nervous conversation flutter in the distance. A man expels himself from the tent, his balding head red from argument and his small mouth pursed. He’s followed by a small collection of rag-tag militia men who carry various rifles or handguns. The man and his men excuse themselves from the surrounding area and continue down the road to a small gathering of military green trucks.
Steven watches them drive off and returns his gaze to the tenting where suited men emerge from the tenting followed by Steven’s superior, Lieutenant David Brown. David dawned his professional green NCR beret and his standard officer outfit.
“Alright men, back to work.” David commands as he shuffles with the men in suits.

Kowalski watches the men accompanied by David leave the encampment. He wipes his forehead and looks to Steven and Tom.
“Looks like the conference didn’t go too well.” Kowalski announces as he shuffles around the camp; setting his service rifle on a nearby communications table.
The camp was a small collection of tents gathered in a circle around a two-head bear flag. It was inconveniently placed in the middle of the road, like a check-point; though not much traffic came through. Tan tenting blocked the view of the road that led down a hillside to the buildings below.
“Rebels are stubborn sons of b*tches.” Henry mutters.
“We give them enough changes and they blow them all off.” Jordan says.
“I don’t think this war will end anytime soon.” Kowalski announces as he leans against the communications table.
Steven takes a smoke from his cigarette and nods.
“They won’t stop until they get what they want, and even when they do, they’ll still keep fighting.” Steven says; sighing.
“They want something called a “Monarchy”, whatever the hell that means.” Jordan mutters.
“It’s a King/Queen thing.” Henry says; spitting his tobacco.
“What’s that even mean?” Jordan responds.
“Means someone rules over a group of people, like that Caesar guy did.” Kowalski says.
Steven squints as David returns to the camp and places his hands on his hips.
“Well? What’d they say Sir?” Henry asks.
“We tried negotiating with ‘em, too stubborn to listen.” David summarizes.
“When we gonna get some action?” Jordan asks.
“Not sure Private, but don’t get to trigger-happy, you might be sitting this war out.” David responds.
“What?! That ain’t fair!” Jordan protests.
“Not my doing. Take it up with someone else, for now, we’re to stay put.” David says; entering his tent.

Those are all good things to note. The fifty year gap was an era of silence and independence. The fourth world war began because several countries were beginning to fall apart. They couldn't support themselves. The base is on the east side of the southern Rockies. The farm is genetically engineered with future technology. The top countries in this war include Canada, Britain, France, Italy, Columbia, and China. The United States has fallen apart. The base is three square miles.

I would assume that the two-hundred soldiers enlisted in the bunker are Canadian Forces? Also it wouldn't hurt to explain why many of these countries abruptly fell besides not being able to support themselves. America is a fairly strong country with a stable economic system. Why did it fall? Was there a second depression? Did another country invade the U.S.? These things should be explained so as to give realism to the role-play. Other than that, everything else looks fine.

So from what I can summarize about the story; is it's basically a social interaction based role-play? For some constructive criticism; I would recommend implementing more details about what is happening around the world. Who is fighting in the war? Why did it start? And why skip over the third world war? It's a perfect starting ground for a story that you can work with; if not summarize. Most World Wars lead into the next World War, such as with World War I and II. To add to this, the Rocky Mountains are fairly vast in size; stretching over three-thousand miles across North-America and into British-Columbia in the western region of Canada. Where in the Rockies is this base located? How large is the base? How can the base sustain a farm at high elevations with cold temperatures? Little things like this should be explained to add depth to your role-play.

    Name- Steven Burns

    Age- 34

    Gender- Male

    Race- Human

Appearance- Steven is relatively average looking man with a fairly clean-cut complexion. His skin is tan, rough, and callus to the touch thanks to several tours in the dry conditions of Nevada. He stands roughly around six-feet tall and has a larger upper-body build due to years of physically demanding labor. His cheek-bones are slightly pronounced, his nose is somewhat crooked after being broken, and he has a strong jaw-line with a dent in his chin. Steven keeps his hair short and manageable, keeping a short, blonde buzz cut. He does maintain some facial hair, which is often trimmed down due to NCR regulations. Steven keeps up a strong build for the line of work he follows and consistently exercises to keep up his physique.

Clothing- Steven typically dawns the average NCR military fatigues. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/NCR_armor

Personality- Having spent several tours in Nevada patrolling the Mohave, Steven has maintained a fairly mature attitude and out-look. He's cunning and quick-minded and often works through scenario's at a fast pace. He keeps a strong focus on his work and is strictly business when operating in the field. Steven can be cynical and close-minded when working under duress, but he's since learned to work fairly well with his platoon. He's not a very talkative person, but when he does engage in social interaction; he isn't afraid to speak his mind and voice his opinions. Most would describe him as a fairly average; cold man.

Biography- Being raised on an NCR share-cropper farm in the rural parts of California; Steven was introduced into the NCR from an early age. He worked on his parents farm with his brother and sister for roughly ten years before enlisting in the NCR military. While on tour, he was stationed in Nevada at the McCarran Airport a year before the Second Battle of Hoover Dam. He climbed the ranks to being a Sargent in the NCR before the war. When the fighting over the Hoover Dam broke-out, Steven was sent to the New Vegas strip to help calm down the factional riots. During the riots, Steven was mortally wounded and extracted from the strip. He spent months recovering from his wound and was traumatized by his experience. He suffered from PTSD and was given treatment back in California, though he was abruptly thrown back into duty before he could complete his therapy.

Accepted, you may start roleplaying. And the reason there aren't any rules is because it's too much of a hassle, no need for regulations, I would expect some role-players to know better. However if rules are broken, I'll enforce them then; but for now our basis is fairly small. I'll make my own app in a few then we can RP together.

    Your all wrong.

The precipers didn't ruin the community, but they set some of the foundations, which makes everything kind of weird without them. But them being here without the other golden age RPer's is also weird.

A similar thing happened to the game PR3.
You could make your own levels and blocks, so the noobs did stuff like make a 3 second race called 'Bezt rac evah' that had absolutely no point to it and was essentially just an eyesore because they could. The best ones were the 'Rate 5 Stars and you will become a millionaire/genius/god/get a free hat/etc.' ones. So although things were going great, all the good map makers slowly left because of the trash, and then there was nothing left but said trash, and eventually everybody just up and left.

But yeah. The precipers were jerks, and they mostly kept to themselves/trolled hyper-casual RP's, but because of how well known they were, and the original setting of the RPer's Guide/GRD&IT, they were important. I forgot the point of all this now.

I can vouch for this. From my time on these forums, the "Precipers" that I role-played with were fairly helpful and friendly. Sometimes they could get a little pushy and irritating, but for the most part they were an important part of the community. Now since they all left, does this mean the role-playing forums fall to the remaining role-players? Making us the next generation of veteran role-players?
