Can you please find one in 48571?

And in 74116002 as well, please! Much appreciated!

Well like i said before it's pretty much random which seeds generate strongholds near your spawn, this is your second seed 74116002 you have 3 very nice NPC villages on your map but it doesnt look like any stronghold's. There is a possibility that there are partial strongholds underneath your villages but most likely they are abandoned mines. But as a consolation prize i've added a dungeon layer to your map, all of the black boxes are dungeons.

Good point, but for those that for some reason have no idea how to use Cartograph but want to find the stronghold themselves, the Stronghold Finder program is simpler to use.

Also, Cartograph renders may not cover the area the stronghold is in, while the program I linked doesn't need to rely on searching x area.

But yeah, both have their good and bad points. However, I just had an idea... Teleport to the coordinates given by the Stronghold Finder (with zombe's Teleportation mod or SPC when it's updated), then search the area that your character's in with Cartograph... Oh my god yes. Do it, SiL3nTOne. DO IT.

Meh, maybe i'll give it a try but this is the easiest way for me for now. It's just a simple small project to help people find a stronghold or two.

The reason people like my method of finding a Stronghold for them is that mapping is accurate, this Java script is not accurate and can be off by 200 blocks which for a lot of people would still be very difficult to find. Mapping takes the guess work out of where your stronghold "Might" be, so i will be sticking to the more accurate mapping way of finding a stronghold.

Here is the thread for Cartograph G

I thought it was 1-3 strongholds per world?
And with worlds being infinite how do you manage to find one almost everytime? Do they all spawn near 0,0? Why are they never impossibly far out so nobody finds them?

Stronghold's generate seemingly at random, there is no telling weather your seed will spawn a stronghold around the map that i explore or not. There have been a few seeds where i could not find a stronghold by exploring a single map in-game.

What program do you use for the map image?

I use Gimp 2 for the image side of things, Gimp 2 has a great "Open as Layer" option which makes it very easy to overlay the stronghold location and dungeon locations.

Mm... thanks, bud, but... a big picture doesn't really help much, I have no clue where I am in relation to that... no idea how to find out either. :/ Anything more you can do?

The picture is just about the exact size of a single in-game map, the problem is Cartograph G gives you a nice clear image of what your world actually looks like but the in-game map does not. It's sorta like playing Atari where the objects in the game sorta roughly look like what they are supposed to represent. The easiest way to navigate is to look for landmarks, since the spawn starts in the middle of the map you can use your compass to find your spawn again or just trek from where you are currently at. Once you have crafted and explored a single map of your world the picture should make a lot more sense, also the picture is rotated to show you what the in-game map would look like.

    :biggrin.gif: Thanks in advance!

You have a killer seed here, the mountain ranges along the top of the map are awesome i have never seen mountain ranges like that. You have an NPC village that spawned halfway into a pond also in-land and you do indeed have a stronghold in the middle left side of your map. And as a special treat since i like your seed so much i also included a dungeon layer to the map, if you save the image and zoom in all of the black boxes on the map signifies where a dungeon is located.

Hmmm, Cartograph doesn't work for me anymore, otherwise I would def. try this out for myself. You should start your own thread dedicated to finding strongholds for other people! I'm sure the community would appreciate it. Could you find the stronghold on my seed please? (1131379565) It would be much appreciated. Thanks :iapprove:

Looks like you have a partial stronghold in your seed, it most likely generated inside of an underground ravine. And your NPC village is on the left side of the map.

Try Cartograph G, also it's not guaranteed that you will find a stronghold on a given seed they generate seemingly random.

Here is a map for Patinator5 a request by PM for his seed -4839697748878096590

Found a nice stronghold right under and island bottom left side of the map, and you have a really sweet mountain range i drew a big red box around that's pretty close to your stronghold. The stronghold is so big that there are actually branches of it under that mountain range, and your nice NPC village in the top middle of your map. Enjoy.

How are you exactly using cartograph to find them? I went and explored around my seed (766259648) and I am wondering what to do next to find the actual strong holds.

Well there is a stronghold in your seed but you had bad luck because it's sorta like half or a quarter of a stronghold, it generated inside of a ravine with lava. But you do have 3 NPC villages in your world also which is nice.

Could not find any stronghold's on your seed, now this does not mean that there are no strongholds in your world there are just none in the map that i explored. However you do have two very nice NPC villages in your world.

Couldn't find a stronghold on your seed from just exploring one map, but you do have a nice NPC village in the upper left part of your map and upper right. And it looks like a nice maze of abandoned mines on the bottom right it could be a stronghold without a library though, now that does not mean that there are no strongholds in your world it just means that there are none in the map that i explored.

Basically you are just rendering a normal world map to start with which should look like every other map, then you are rendering a second map but this time instead of "Show all Blocks" you are just going to select "Show Only Block(s):" and select the #47 ID Bookshelf and the #101 ID Iron Bars. You will have two maps at this point, rotate both maps 90 degrees counter-clockwise (once to the left) use a image program like Gimp to open the first world map and then open a new layer and open up your second 2 block map then "Burn" the layer so that it shows up black on the map.

    Quote from Zexis

This is just something I thought to be really cool and wanted to share with all of you.

Although you can't tell from the screenshot, this is a two-tiered ravine. Basically, there's another "floor" of stone above the one I'm standing on that opens up for a bit and leads to the bottom floor.

And at the bottom I found this:

I just think that's too cool. The sun was able to shine way down into the depths of Minecraft to not only give birth to a tree, but to have that tree spawn next to a diamond ore.

Pretty neat, huh? I found this while looking for strongholds in MCEdit.

    Very cool.
