You know depending on how fast you are exploring a map, sometimes it is actually faster to use the Java Stronghold Calculator and the SSP Commands to find a stronghold. But the calculator can be way off a lot of the time, so if you combine the calculator the ssp commands and the cartograph you can find strongholds pretty damn fast.

Also it's not a large stronghold either, it's surrounded by abandoned mines.

There are no Stronghold's even remotely close in this seed, not within an entire in-game map area.

Hey can someone here find me some villages and the stronghold on my map? The seed is snow. I like the seed so far but it seems lacking without villages. Coordinates would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Your seed also has no NPC villages or Stronghold's.

How are you people finding strongholds so easily? Also what mapping program is that?

It's not a complicated process to find a stronghold, just use Cartograph G to map out your world and overlay two images like we are doing. You make a normal map then you make another map that just looks for bookshelves and iron bars and voila a stronghold map.

Ive found mine on my map, 2 large ones, one upspoilt but the large has a mineshaft and a lava raveene in it :sad.gif: then theres a small 2 prison cells and a spiral staircase if you can call that stronghold a 3rd one xD

Currently im looking for a programm where I can move these 2 objects, ie 2 cubic land masses then mineaway the smooth ton get rid, then placing oth back underground in alocation of my choosing

MCEdit will allow you to mass delete blocks or add them to your world.

Please could you find any strongholds or npc villiages on the seed:4664973360897230303

Could not find a stronghold on your map, but you do have a nice NPC village in the upper left of your map. And i also included all the dungeons i found on your map just in case you wanted to go spelunking.

Ooh, got another one 2092632 Hopefully this one won't have a huge ocean biome like the last one.

Definitely a better seed this time, you have 2 NPC villages and a stronghold.

Here you go, I think your Stronghold is slightly underwater, at least it looks that way. I haven't used MCedit to go take a look myself. Also I tried a suggestion that was posted earlier, I included the Moss stone blocks in the 2nd render. Those funny black squares are the dungeon spots that came up from that. Hope this works for you.

Looks good, did you remember to flip the dungeon mapping also before you layered it? It has to be flipped 90 degrees counter-clockwise like the stronghold layer.

    ok here is seed 413

Remember to use the burn mode in your image program. When you overlay the layer it should be in your layer options like "Layers" > "Mode" > "Burn" normally it is set on normal but you should have a list of modes to use in your layers and "Burn" is one of them, this way the stronghold shows up black in the image so it's more easily seen.

You can do this for dungeons also, instead of mapping the bookshelves and iron bars just select #48 Moss Stone overlay the map as another layer then "Layers" > "Mode" > "Burn" you get a nice dungeon layer to the map.

I just scaned your first map area, found no strongholds, nor NPC villages. Kinda curious if this seed was like mine, an old one I had previously used from an old save file.

Here is my method for exploration:

    1. Create a new map in creative mode with the seed
    2. Grab a map and explore the entire map
    3. Use Cartograph G to create a normal north map
    4. Use Cartograph G to create another map with only blocks #47, #101
    5. Rotate both maps 90 degrees counter-clockwise
    6. Layer the maps on top of each other
    7. Burn the second layer to the first
    8. ???
    9. Profit!

I will try to create some more later, the ole' lady wants to go shopping.
