The lack of thought in some posts can be baffling at times, but trust me, I have seen worse.

I don't understand why Thaumcraft needed to capture both 'F' and 'G' - as there is no tool / help item that responds to both.

In fact, Forge should just add a central "Tool mode" keybind - that defaults to "F" and can be pressed (or held) to change the mode of the active tool. About 16 individual keybinds in most FTB packs would be rolled into a single, tool sensitive, keybind.

If not forge, then @Azanor could use his status in the modding community to create another mod - like Baubles, that handles keybinds for slots.

"F" - would toggle/cycle/select for the active held main hand item.

"H" - would toggle any item worn in the chest slot. Etc.

A standard, good idea, but who gets to decide it. Not everyone in the Forge community is in the Crimson Cult.

It's true, mod author REALLY like to add key functions to their mods, even though a button in a GUI would often be more convenient.
Honestly, when I load a big modpack, I sometimes feel like I'm tuning a piano

I started thinking about alternatives to the special functios.
IC2 for instance has completely redundant functions that are just a waste of space, such as power mode for tools, could have just shift-air-rclick.

With Thaumcraft worn active tools and the wand are offenders, but both are pretty hard to fix.
Jetpack syndrome.(No real way of interacting with worn equipment other than special hotkey) and the wand alread yutilizing everything from left-click to shift-rc-air.

Didn't TC4 contain a staff like that as well? A Thaumium embossed Silverwood Sceptre couldn't contain enough vis to create a Thaumium embossed Silverwood Staff, if I remember correctly.

That is a late-game item though.
Not something that is supposed to be relatively cheap and is somewhat necessary for progression.

But TC4 also had the primal staff, so if you can't even make a silverwood one?

    Yeah, or Roguelike Dungeons

The thing is... Thaumcraft is supposed to be playable in all its own aspects on its own.

    Void aspected primal staff.

I mean the thing sucks anyway, but I mean it has a recipe, however it cannot be crafted.

Crimson King? No. We need a different kind of hero.

    (I apologise.)

Seriously though, I could see the Crimson Caesar being a thing. But that would either involve a lot of backstory about the Crimson Cult being revealed, or a special grounds in which to meet this Caesar be established.

    Yes.

    Think he means these:

    I miss them.
I mean the new wonderful way you can farm vis shards replaced them and I wouldn't want the ore back, but man, the clusters were nice.
Also as storage. Now that I have a giant shard garden under my house I have no place to put them all. My main way of farming ordo essence has pretty much always been order shards, because they are so easy to get when you have a 100x Ordo node on your roof.

Also can anybody tell me if any item other than candles can be used for stability?

Because clusters don't exist and skulls cannot realistically be obtained.

...according to my tests no, absolutely not. No jars, no nitors, no pedestrals...

That's a strange way to spell Witchery.

    Witchery over Thaumcraft?

Mods like NEI are 100% necessary when playing stuff like IC2 because on their own all the recipes make zero sense.

    Thaumcraft, however, has the Thaumonomicon.

NEI is just what vanilla creative should be and a crutch to preserve a little bit of immersion in mods that have thousand sof unexplained random recipes.

In an ideal world nobody would ever need NEI-like mods.

Guys how can I pick up alchemical devices from my world that is crystallizers and centrifuges?

They are not reacting to anything, pickaxe, hands, wand...

EDIT: Nevermind. They do break, but they just do not give any visible sign of block damage, so I hit them for a few seconds and then gave up, you just have to hold for long enough.

    You've just described 1.9 - 1.11. (1.9-1.11 was an inside job!)

At least shields are good to make Minecraft combat a lot more interesting and to get rid of the disturbing tumor that is the current Minecraft vanilla PVP "scene".

Make a cauldron, throw a lot of stuff, and let the taint spread! It makes taint rain, slimes, angry wisps and larvae.

    That was not the question.
