You can check out more lore on our forums. If that will help you a bit. Otherwise I'd recommend reading some of the more well done apps, such as Wheatley's and Riengo's on the first page, Tsev's, Welk's and I's on the second, and Sweetcosmo's on page 5.

Oh yeah! What DOES Arys think about Ravitz and the Church?

Arys is a bit bitter towards the church. He doesn't have anything personal against Ravitz, he just doesn't like the church that much.

Council, Church and Academy... That's basically every authority on the server. Bit of a rebel, there? :P

Arthon's naturally trusting, though that does occasionally get him into trouble. His default reaction to most people will be one of friendliness, mixed with his usual brand of awkwardness. He and Ravitz will of course be rivals, as can be seen from Tsev and I's thread in the IC section of our forums. I already know a few characters will be enrolling at the Academy as soon as possible, which Arthon will be thrilled about.

Don't forget about that Arys - Ravitz semi-awkward encounter that will occur at some point. Maybe some Alchemy/Magic RP battles of awesome!

    Character Information
    Name: Arys (Air-is) Hightower
    Age: 31
    Class: Alchemist (Originally Ranger)
Physical description: Arys is 31 years in age with a graying brown hair, beard, and green eyes. He has enough muscle for his lifestyle. He has light skin, wears a light brown leather vest over a blue-green shirt and brown pants with dark leather boots. He also wears a small pin that he fastens to the vest, one of the last momentos from his childhood.

    Screen capture of your skin:

Biography (Minimum 400 words. Cannot include loved ones being killed, kidnapped, tortured, or the like, unless you can do it in a non-cliche manner.):

Arys was born as the only child in a small community by the name of Brightwater, a highly religious island that follows the goddess Aneria with little question. Growing up, his parents were strict with his education and upbringing. He was taught religion more than actual studies such as writing or arithmetic. Arys had an amazing memory and gained knowledge at an alarming rate, by age nine he could recite most texts within their home by heart. Also at this young age he took on archery as a way to think. Arys was a fantastic shot, but could never perfect it because his family forced their religious studies on him. His family said he was born to become a servant to the Goddess and bring glory to their family by becoming a high ranking priest or one day a prophet. "Ora et labora", prayer and work in some old forgotten language was a very common saying during these years.

Around age 14 he began to question why they worshipped this goddess, she had never truly shown herself to him. Were all these things that happened to him because of her? He did not think so, he and only he had control of his fate and future. Arys was still young though, his family was all that he had and he did not want to disappoint them. Because this he pursued priesthood for another two years.

When his 16th birthday had arrived he told his parents that he no longer believed in the Goddess the way they did. His father was furious, he was a large man, a blacksmith at the time and he fumed like the hot coals within a furnace. An argument occurred, they said that if he did not repent for his sinful ways that he would no longer be allowed to stay in their home. So he left. Arys went to the capital on the first ship the next morning and did not return or even contact his parents.

On arrival, he had no idea what he was going to do, he was a young man in a busy city with no idea on what to do with his future. All he knew was that he wanted to stay away from his parents, far away. With what little money he had he stayed at an inn for a couple nights. During this time he wondered around slowly finding his bearings. On his final night at the inn, he met a man by the name of Mr. John Gregory, a man with a good sense of humor and could drink anyone under the table. The two had a few pints with one another and Arys found out that Mr. Gregory was the local alchemist for the Academy.

This was it! This was his chance to make something of himself. He begged Mr.Gregory to take him on as his apprentice and luckily it worked. Arys was a fairly fast learner of his new subjects despite his poor education in his early life. Alchemy became his passion, it intrigued him to no end and it taught him that life is meant to be questioned not based solely on faith to a divine being. He learned why certain objects reacted differently when brewed into potions, the structures of many different alchemical components, philosophy and much more about life itself. His apprenticeship ended after seven years, but his friendship with Mr.Gregory had not and he was finally recognized an alchemist.

He practiced his craft within a small shop in the capital for several years until he had received notice from Brightwater that both his parents had died within a midair airship crash. The note also had the will of his parents, they had given all their to the church. They had left him nothing, but he could not blame them for that, they were blinded by faith to this so called goddess and he no longer wanted to be held down by them.

5 years later, Mr. Gregory had fallen incredibly ill. Arys was there for his final words, a phrase that Arys will never forget, "Alchemy is like a chaste *****; promising all her secret knowledge to all but keeping it to herself." Now the Academy had need of a new master Alchemist and Arys was Mr. Gregory's last apprentice, it was his duty to fill his master's boots and he began his role as head Alchemy master at the Chancellery's Academy of Magics with the philosphy of "only an empty bowl can be filled" for his future apprentices.

What is your character’s main goal? (Motivation):
His goal is to help the realm as a whole. Whether it be teaching the future generation his art or by helping save or dispose of a ruler. He also wants to discover more information on Alchemy and then pass it onto his future students.

    Strengths (Both physical and personality):
He is a strict mentor that is always to the point and hard to please. He gives praise rarely and when he does it is gruffly and somewhat reluctantly. Arys does have a soft side for the apprentices that he grows to trust, but the lack of praise is to prevent his apprentices from becoming bigheaded and making mistakes. He is also fairly skilled with his cane and can use it as a weapon if really needed and he is a master of the Alchemical arts.

    Weaknesses (Both physical and personality):
He isn't very strong because he is a scholar and always has been, but he is strong enough for his line of work. He walks with a slight limp after an a explosion caused by a dangerous alchemy experiement caused some rubble to pin Arys' leg. He walks with a cane, but he can walk woithout it. The cane just makes it easier for him. His eyesight isn't the best because of his work in the dim lighting of his lab and has minor respitory problems because of his lab work as well. Arys is still bitter about the church's affect on his parents as well. He is also left-handed which makes his handwriting harder to read.
Will your character likely join an existing faction? If so, which? If not, why not?: The Academy

Does your character have any connections to currently-existing characters or characters yet to be accepted? If so, which? (See “Character Linking Aid”. Please post a link to the topic.): A slight link to Tsev's prophet and Zymph.

In-Character-Responses (ICRs. For each scenario, write at least a paragraph describing entirely in-character how your character would respond to the situation.Your ICRs will be used to see how well you can RP. Please post them as if in IC chat. An example can be found after this form.)

Walking down the streets of the Capitol, you encounter a pair of heavily armed and armoured men harassing a young girl.
Arys is no stranger to this type of behavior, the guard has been slacking lately so he has to do their job for them. He drinks a potion of invisibilty and walks over to the thugs quietly and then pokes one of them with the end of his cane. The thugs look back, see nothing, and return to their harrasement.
"Excuse me gentlemen, but I'd advise you to stop." They look again and see nothing.
"Show yourself! And then I'll show you what I think about your advice." one of them say.
"You obviously do not know who you are dealing with gents. We all have better things to do tonight, I really do think you should move along." Arys says calmly.
"Oh? Well how about I shove my foot up y'r ****?" the other thug retorts.
"Well if you want to play that way so be it." Arys says. He then throws a couple of poisons that he keeps on hand. Though he misjudged how far he threw them and some of the poison splashed back at him. He was getting old. The poisons were doing just enough damage to cause some tremendous pain. As they are toppled over in pain the potion wears off and he reappears with minimal damage and escorts the women to her home.

A man approaches you with a proposition - Go to Bloodstone and retrieve something for him, and you will be well rewarded.
Arys tells the man that he has no interest in returning to that hellish place. He had to go their as an apprentice and only wishes to return their if needed. No matter what the reward was it wasn't worth going back to Bloodstone.

You pass an old man lying on the side of the street, begging for food.
Arys has a weakness for beggars because once he was a day away from being one of them. He takes pity on the man and gives him some of his money that he has carried with him. That money could be remade now that the Academy was about to be reopened and hunger was one of the few things potions couldn't fix.

In a tavern, a slightly inebriated fellow insults your mother.
Arys is not phased by the remark of the drunk. He was in a tavern after all and it happened fairly often, but it did bring back some painful memories from his past. He gets up pays his tab, says goodbye to his friends and walks out of the tavern. Arys walks off towards the docks to catch a ride back to Brightwater. As he walks away he mumbles "I didn't need them, they were holding me back."

You take a liking to a beautiful necklace a passing woman wears.
He looks at it for a moment, but reminds himself that he has no reason to take much interest. He had no women in his life. His mother was dead and he had no siblings. Arys hasn't even bothered looking for a woman since before he became an alchemist. Maybe it was time for him to find someone.

    Quote from Legoasaurus

Really? Not what I get when I open that tab. I read that war and then chaos came about due to everyone having magic. It does say passingly 'The world as we know it has come to an end.', but that doesn't appear to be a vital part of the paragraph.

What is in Recent News after the first paragraph:
Things have changed, people have died. Good, hard-working people. The world as we know it has come to an end. A great beacon of light shoots forth from where Roland's Basin once stood, beckoning the survivors of the Great Doom. Those that reach it find a small tunnel that leads down into a massive underground city. The tunnel closes behind them.

To summarize: The apocalypse happened a few days ago (an IC week I'm guessing).

Yet another server by the Silver Gaming RP group. They have had 3 or 4 servers before this so they know how to handle a server and keep it's player base entertained. They are dedicated to the server and the story it is telling and has yet to tell. The architecture is great and the RP can't be found anywhere else. What happens on the server is unpredictable. One minute someone is being kidnapped, next you are talking to a ghost who has come back to just mess with the living. There is usually always a staff member to help you and answer questions, most of the time there are more! Even though we had some problems on release of the prologue (Lag, lots of lag), it was fixed after about a day. Our team also tends to procrastinate a lot, so we should start working on that as well. Another thing is that our economy has always been a bit out of whack, but a good old rant from Jidek should work for that. Now lead by the two headed beast that is Baewelk I know that this is going to be a great server. So if you are looking for an involved and dedicated RP community, no need to look any further.

    Character Information

    Name: Jon Thorn

    Age: 28

    Race: Javilian

    Class: Herbalist

Physical description: Jon is a fairly pale man with blue tattoos and is completely shaven including his head because he was raised for most of his life in Horium. Tattoos cover most of his body (explained in the Bio). He is fairly muscular and has little body fat.

    Screen capture of your skin:

Biography (Minimum 400 words. Cannot include loved ones being killed, kidnapped, tortured, or the like, unless you can do it in a non-cliche manner.):

Jon was born in the "province" of Javil as a a poor childhood. He had a terrible childhood. He always had little food, animals everywhere were either diseased or dead, he did have a loving family, and education though. His family used to be a long line of wealthy planters, but after the war the land became diseased. His great grandfather's crops withered and died and so did most of his herds. This plunged the family into massive debt that lasted decades.

Jon's father was finally able to pay off the last of the debt with the help of his son doing odd jobs as well as farming. He then moved his family to the Horium slums in hope of a better life. Things weren't terrible, but they weren't great either. His father had to farm for a merchant to provide for his family. He was rarely home and when he was it was only for short periods of time.

The bills were hard to pay so Jon began to fight for money (Kind of like boxing, but with no gloves deal). Jon trained vigorously day and night for each fight. Sometimes his opponents carried weapons into matches, but he refused to fight in such a dirty manner. He only fought with his fists and honed his skilled so much that his fist were almost like hammers. He began to get tattoos to intimidate his opponents surprisingly it worked. Jon was still an educated man from Javil so he tried to study about the "Magic of Nature" it legend that he heard about during his childhood there. Sadly, he found very little on the subject and what he did find was extremely vague.

Jon then found a match with a nice sum as a prize in Roland's Basin, a small town right in the center of the continent. In hopes of money to help his family and maybe find some more information on "The Magic of Nature" he ventured to the small town with a smile and what little things he owned.

What is your character's main goal? (Motivation): To learn about The Magic of Nature and to provide for his family.

Strengths (Both physical and personality): His skill in hist fighting, education, and his determination.

Weaknesses (Both physical and personality): He is hot-headed and sometimes does not know when to give up at times.

Will your character likely join an existing faction? If so, which? If not, why not?: There are no current factions so no? I may join one of the gangs or something that people on the forums are making.

Does your character have any connections to currently-existing characters or characters yet to be accepted? If so, which? (See "Character Linking Aid". Please post a link to the topic.): Nope.

In-Character-Responses (ICRs. For each scenario, write at least a paragraph describing entirely in-character how your character would respond to the situation.)

Walking down the streets of the Undercity, you encounter a pair of heavily armed and armoured men harassing a young girl.

Jon proceedes with caution, he isn't a fool to go save someone when he is clearly out matched. He may create a distraction, like throwing some rocks or making lots of noise. Hopefully luring the men away. If the men do do leave the girl or even if one leaves he could possibly knock him unconcious and rescue the girl.

You've been lost in the tunnels for nearly a week without food, and come across a small independent settlement.

Jon isn't a stranger to hunger, but he would sincerly ask for food in the settlement. If it turns out that it doesn't work he would have to end up stealing it. He would not take much only a small bite or nibble from each person within leaving the food alone if the family has too little to barely feed themselves. Then he would ask for instruction to the Undercity and hopefully find some mushrooms on the way to the city.

You pass an old man lying on the side of the street, begging for food.

If he has food to spare Jon will share it with the man. If he doesn't maybe he could spare a little coin or spend some time with the begger teaching him about edible plants or just telling stories. He could even steal small bits for the man if the need is that great. Jon doesn't like stealing, but does see that if it is needed he must.

In a tavern, a slightly inebriated fellow insults your mother.

Jon doesn't like his family being insulted. He may tell off the drunk or if it comes to it start a bar brawl. Most likely winning unless the man pulls out a weapon or is fully armored. If Jon is drunk enough he may even play along, forgeting aabout the incident entirely. He does enjoy the occasional beer after all.

You take a liking to a beautiful necklace a passing woman wears.

Jon may have grown up in the slums and a disease ridden land, but he is no jewel thief. He steals only for food not personal gain. Especially from a woman who has obviously worked hard for the jewelery or even has had it passed down from her family. (He's never been very rich so he doesn't think about her just having the coin or jewelery given to her.)
