I'm aware of that the City of Concord is currently in ruins. But was it in ruins 20 years ago too? When this invasion started exactly? Based on the lore: "In recent years, the Undead scourge has mysteriously risen yet again, and with devastating force much of the island has been claimed." I assumed it would be okay if my character spent his childhood there. Is that not?

You could have spent your childhood there. My character is 34 and grew up in Concord until around 19-20.

    Character Information

    Name: Edward “The Forlorn” Teach

    Age: 34

    Race: Human

Physical description: Edward is mid-aged man, tanned skin from his time out on the seas, He keeps a short beard and mustache and his hair flows freely in the wind. His eyes are dark and intense. He wears a navy captain's jacket, dark pants help up with a large gold belt buckle and brown leather boots that are significantly worn.

Screen capture of your skin (I recommend uploading to imgur and posting link here):

Biography (Minimum 225 words. Most very fleshed-out characters have around 300, but feel free to use even more than that if you wish. Try and avoid clichés such as loved one being killed by bandits or the like):

Edward was the only child born to Nathan Teach, only son of a respectably wealthy family of merchants, traders, sailors, and craftsmen in the grand port-city of Concord. His mother died soon died of illness after his birth and Edward was left with only his father to guide him. Nathan Teach worked closely with all merchants both inside and outside the city walls, if there was a shipment coming in he knew what was in it, where it came from and who it was for. By doing this, Edward's father was able to climb the social and political ladder through bribery and blackmail, eventually working closely with the Lord-Mayor, Nicholas Granger himself. Being born to a respected and feared man had its benefits, and Edward grew into a very well-known man with the finest education and apprenticeships that his father could afford or “acquire” for him.

Edward had all he could ever wish for. But as his father always said, “Never be satisfied, satisfaction means that there is nothing to be done.”, and he wanted more, much, much more. He began to leave the wealthy districts of Concord and wandered out into the slums and docks, the common folk gave him queer looks or ignored him, except one man. Drake. Drake came right up to Edward and had a small conversation about some mundane topics, weather, rumors, and who got what job, nothing particularly interesting. The conversation soon ended and the two men parted ways, except one just walked away with a new watch and 50 gold richer.

Despite being robbed, Edward continued going down towards the port, although with a keener eye on his belongings and a small dagger for assurance. This time a young attractive women came and chatted him up. The conversation seemed to be going swimmingly, he made all the right quips and jokes, making her laugh, but then he notices something in the corner of his eye. It was the man from the day before, smiling towards him. Edward turns toward Drake and sees that another man was sneaking up behind him, he draws his dagger. The women and the man scatter like roaches, but not Drake.

“Welcome to the real Concord, boy. Home to more thieves than rats.” Drake said.

“You best wise-up now and stay in your fancy mansion before this city chews you up and shits you out like it does everyone else. There's nothing out here for you, you already have it all.” he continued.

But want is all Edward knew and this could be his one chance, one opportunity, to seize everything he could have ever wanted. Considering this he uttered the words that would change the course of his life,

“Teach me.” the man raised an eyebrow.

Drake taught him all about the dark inner-workings of the city, the techniques, the talk, the people, the women. All that Edward would need to know to make his fortune, the way that real people of Concord made it, by cheating, conniving, and eliminating any and all threats to making the next piece of gold. He began smuggling goods into the city on his father's ships, blackmailing any respected person he could find dirt on and ruining all those that stood in his way, leaving a smoldering path behind him. But eventually he got sloppy, and was finally arrested and put on trial. His social status cushioned his sentence, eternal exile from Enris.

Edward took the remainder of his money and bought his first ship, Endeavor, and sailed for the mainland, making his new wealth the only way he knew how, illegally. Pirating, slaving, smuggling from Mezenia to Bheille. Word had gotten to him that Concord has been destroyed by the undead horde. All those that knew of his past, were dead or scattered to the wind. What better time to come back?

What is your character’s main goal? (Motivation):

To continue his previous goals from Concord, accumulate wealth, power, and influence. Inevitably he will want to reach for a political position to further expand his power until he is above all those on Enris.

Strengths (Both physical and personality): Edward has been pirating, slaving, and smuggling in Mezenia to Bheille and has picked up his know how to buy and sell goods for profit especially if he is scamming his customer out of a few or a lot of extra coins. Sailing, navigation, and sword-fighting have also all come natural with his life on the high seas, he's kept in shape and is still relatively young so he is quick on his feet.

Weaknesses (Balance out yours character's strengths with suitable weaknesses. Not knowing how to do something that is outside of your class is not a weakness. I.E. Not knowing how to use a bow as a miner.): Edward remains extremely greedy and vain despite the years away from Enris. Captaining his ship and dealing with rowdy and insubordinate pirates has instilled an incredibly hot-temper. He looks down at all elves and savages, he sees them as no better than farm animals from his years of slaving them to Bheille.

What is your character's personality? (Optional; use this field to note character traits that you feel don't fit into either strengths or weaknesses if you wish):

On the outside Edward is your typical charismatic man, but within he is looking for a way to exploit his next victim, or find a way to make some more money. He will try to cheat or bribe his way out of any bad situation with no second thought. Ruthless to not only his enemies, but "friends" as well. He trust no one but himself and likes it that way.

    Bonus Language (Caro is free):

    Savage

Character Traits (up to 7 points worth):

    Fisherman (2)

    Simple Weapons (1)

    Martial Weapons (1)

    Lung Capacity (1)

Linguist (1) - Wild Elven, Bhielle

    Character Information

    Name: Edric Penrose
    Age: 34
    Class: Archer/Archer
Physical description: Edric is average height and slightly tan with a decent amount of muscle from his time as a guard and in the Braxian Navy. He has brown hair with a few streaks of grey, green eyes, and also has a small patch of facial hair on his chin. He often wears his uniform, including his helmet, pauldrons, black navy jacket and boots. Alongside this, tan pants and a typical white shirt are worn. His uniform has seen better days, but by no means unkempt.

    Screen capture of your skin:

    Biography:
Edric was born to a single mother in one of Braxia's many port cities along the Rocky Cape, his mother owned a tavern by the docks which kept them warm, clothed, fed and allowed Edric to experience a fairly normal childhood. He did many of the idiotic things kids would do, play with dangerous wildlife, climb things that he wasn't supposed to, and had a fight or two with the local children. Although, Edric did not remember much of his childhood and this was from stories his mother had told him, he truly didn't know if they did or did not happened to him, but he accepted the stories nonetheless. The few things that he did remember from his childhood were the vivid tales his mother would tell him of his father, the great Captain Jon Penrose, traveler of the world, master of the longbow, and captain of the mighty ship, The Mary Rose. She would tell him of the numerous adventures he had during his time including pirate attacks, naval battles, exploration of uncharted land beyond the southern sea and eventually his assumed death when he did not return after an expedition south leaving Edric's mother with little more than a small coin purse and Edric in her belly.

Edric's father was his inspiration for the entirety of his childhood. As a boy of 10, Edric took on the bow to master it just like his father had did so many years ago. Failure was not an option and he trained day and night with targets, eventually moving onto hunting game to bring home some extra food and money during his adolescence. Every few years, Edric's city would host a tourney; each time he would enter for archery and would slowly climb up the ranks with each event. This eventually caught the eye of the local guard who offered him a job when he turned 17 with a decent enough wage and a new place to stay. Nearly an adult, the sense of independence was irresistible and he took the job with little hesitation.

Edric served in the guard for five years, patrolling the docks, ending bar brawls, preventing a few muggings, but mostly ing away his pay for drinks at his mother's tavern. His weakness for ale would eventually lead to termination of his job in the guard. Edric being at the tavern and not patrolling his normal route resulted in a man dying in the middle of the street, not being found until hours later. The guard now had to deal with not only the anger of the people, but a murderer on the loose as well. He was fired him on the spot. With no job and the burden of someone's death on his shoulder, he drunk himself near to death. He woke up the next day in the gutter, with little hope and then he thought of how ashamed his mother would be of him. He could never look her in the eye again, all was lost. He was a failure. Sitting against a wall, looking at the clear blue sky pondering what he will do now, over the occasional call of the seagulls he hears,

JOIN THE GREAT BRAXIAN NAVY! BRING HONOR AND GREATNESS TO YOUR FAMILY! START YOUR LIFE AGAIN!”

This was it. His chance at redemption. Soon after packing his things and telling his mother he enlisted into the Braxian Navy. Edric served 12 years in the navy and it was the greatest thing that could have happened to Edric, discipline was drilled into him, he was able to keep away from alcohol and he was even able to improve him archery. He served in the Braxia-Empircle war as well as during the Liberation of Gart'nun, gaining the occasional rank, but spent most of his service traveling across the world protecting merchant ships and seeing the new frontiers of the world. He was living as his father did and this made Edric the happiest he had ever been.

News of the Braxian Crown's interest in newly discovered land reached Edric and this especially interested him. Perhaps he could see what his father saw and what could have caused him to never return? Was this new land full of danger and killed his father or was it full of treasure and he never returned for a reason? He had to know. That meant leaving the navy and all that he once knew to journey to the small town of Roland's Field to start anew once again.

What is your character’s main goal? (Motivation): Edric's goals are to find out what may have happened to his father as well as discovering what the new lands beyond the sea may hold.

Strengths (Both physical and personality): Edric is fairly strong physically and is quick on his feet. He can track decently from his days as a hunter, but it is not as good as it once was. He has nearly mastered the bow and also has experience as a sailor due to his time in the Navy. He is loyal and will do as he is told by any superior.

Weaknesses: Edric did not have much formal schooling resulting in with little knowledge after reading/writing and basic math. He has been able to stay away from alcohol for some time, but growing up in a tavern was not the best for a child and he may return to his old ways at any time. Also, his loyalty can be seen as a fault because he will do almost anything a superior tells him to do even if it may be against his own interest. In addition, he idolizes his father and anything negative said about his parents may quickly anger him and cause him to act rather irrational

    In-Character-Responses:

Due a recent accident, you wander the dark quiet streets of the town with a broken ankle trying to make your way home:
Edric knows how it is at night from his time as a guard. Criminal activity is at its height during the night and he doesn't want to take the risk of being mugged especially with a broken ankle. There is no way he won't be noticed limping in the street and this will make him easy prey. Edric takes a detour to the nearest inn or public office and remains there for the night rather than risking the trek back to his home. When the morning comes, he pays some locals to help him home and call the local physician.

In a tavern, a stranger threatens you to fight him/her:
Edric would actively avoid going to a tavern in the first place. If a drunken stranger were to threaten him, Edric would simply walk away. He understands that people are not in the right state of mind when drunk. He has done things that he has regretted while drunk and will not be one of this stranger's mistakes.

Your superior asks for a favour you would have problem doing:
Even though Edric has a problem with the favor asked of him he does it regardless. After his failure in duty as a guard many years before, he takes no chances in disappointing his superiors and risking his job once again. Failure remains as not an option and he will try his hardest to complete what is asked of him.

    Lore Questions

List three causes for the fall of the Empiracle: The Empiracle was unable to hold it's lands including the Splinter Isles, Vaerdezzio, and it's own former capital. Vaerdezzio their most prosperous city has seceded from the empire and the Guyre and took the capital of the Empircle. Many are also leaving the Empiracle for more prosperous lands as well as the Mountain clans forming a confederacy causing even more trouble.

Who is proposing an expedition to the western lands?: Robert Ewarding has been backed by Rauric III of Braxia for an expedition through the seas past Rocky Cape.

Where is the expedition to be launched from?: Roland's Field

    Questions or comments?: NOPE.

Citizen of the Chancellory or a member of the Medori?: Citizen of the Chancellory.

    Physical description:
A blend of leather armor and clothing, with a shortsword on a sheath on his left side. Hard leather boots, and matching gloves. His overall color is brown on his body, with a mix of dark green. His hair is more black then sandy blonde, but you can catch the hint of it there. It falls shortly below his shoulders in an unkept fashion. He has a sturdy and worn face, with blue eyes and an unkept beard with the same color as his hair.

Biography (Minimum 400 words. Cannot include loved ones being killed, kidnapped, tortured, or the like, unless you can do it in a non-cliche manner.):

The door bursts open. Looking up, I sigh. Joshua. I haven't even eaten my soup yet, but the urgency in his eyes is too great to ignore. "Oden!" he exclaims, pulling a chair on my makeshift table in the subberbs of the Capital. His eyes settle on me, and I can see the faint streaks of tears. I drop my spoon back into the soup, remembering something. The wedding. "No.. no.." I say, but he interupts me. "She's dead. Ravitz got her.... he got her." I look down, biting my lip. The boy loved her like no other, and she's dead. Amongst the rest. There is no need for explanation. I've known all along, for the Order does not keep secrets with each other. With the Prophet's banishment, and the tension. Oh.. the tension. "Oden.. I can't do it. Not without her. I can't get revenge on him. I lost everything... he pushed me into the Net." I nod slowly, before I can see what is happening.

"Boy.." Joshua raises a hand at me. "As leader of the Order of the Pumpkin, you will succeed as Leader after me. I'm going to meet her.." he says, a blissful look in his face. "I'm going to be with her, at last." I can't stop him. I know I can't. He silently rises, and I can see the crease of a handle in his pocket. I already know what it is. I finish my soup, before knowing what will now happen. I lay in bed, knowing the dreams will come soon. After Joshua, they will be here. Not far.

I plunge into my childhood. Normal, as usual. Things are speeding up. I grow up. My father shoves a blade into my hand. Foolishness takes place before I can learn to use the thing. I've gone through this dream scene, hundereds of times. This is just more routine. I become a teenager, be with my first girl. I'm still a boy long after my 18th birthday. I join the Guard, and serve faithfully. I grow in skill, slowly. I age, more and more. Learn to use a sword like it is mean't to. I sigh, looking through the dream. All bland... dull, it seems. Another man living through his life, until I quit the Guard and join the Order of Aradin. Shortly disbanded after. Then I meet him. A young boy, donned in a Priest's robe. A wooden scepter, but it proves strong even against a steel sword. Long gone now, I think. He offers me a position of something called the Order. I join happily, watching as the ranks slowly buckle in length. I take an interest in airships. Color slowly swirls into the picture, replacing my bland life with meaning. And interest. I want to make airships. I want to teach young men how to properly wield a sword. I want to serve the Order. I have a meaning now, and that is what matters. The dream ends in a happy note. It doesn't progress to Joshua's death, no. I don't allow it. I just... sit in the bliss. Until I wake up, that is. And then the fun begins.

What is your character’s main goal? (Motivation):
To follow his interests, of which he has currently taken up. They consist of his interest in airships, his desire to teach the way of the blade, and his desire to follow and lead the Order.

    Strengths (Both physical and personality):
A seasoned fighter with expertise in Swordsman fighting. Although not blatantly friendly, he is good natured and does not enjoy seeing cruelty.

Weaknesses (Both physical and personality. Not knowing how to do something that is outside of your class is not a weakness. IE not knowing how to use bows and magic, if you are a swordsman.):

He is a drunk attempting to recover, from the days where he saw no light in his life. As he ages, he slowly slips in his swordsmanship, but nevertheless tries.

Does your character have any connections to currently-existing characters or characters yet to be accepted? If so, which? (See “Character Linking Aid”. Please post a link to the topic.):
    Nope. D:

In-Character-Responses (ICRs. For each scenario, write at least a paragraph describing entirely in-character how your character would respond to the situation.Your ICRs will be used to see how well you can RP. Please post them as if in IC chat. An example can be found after this form.)

Walking down the streets of the Capitol, you encounter a pair of heavily armed and armoured men harassing a young girl.

Walking down the streets, I notice the situation. Walking closer, I eye the two men harassing her. Just young lads! "Hey! You two!" I yell, as they swing their heads to me. "It ain't worth it." I say as I draw my sword from my sheath, the steel gleaming in the night air. They hestinantly look at me, then give her up, running off. "Find yer mother." I say as I walk away.

A man approaches you with a proposition - Go to Bloodstone and retrieve something for him, and you will be well rewarded.
I squint at him. "Are you insane, fool?" I yell at him, smacking him in the head. "Yer findin' nobody to do that! It's a death sentence."

You pass an old man lying on the side of the street, begging for food.
I cast a doubtful eye on him. I put a hand on my satchel, where I muster up 2 gold coins. Tossing it to him, I say, "Get a meal, suited to yer likin's." I trot off, smiling on how I helped someone.

In a tavern, a slightly inebriated fellow insults your mother.
I narrow my eyes at the man. Intoxicated from the several beers I had, I know I can't stop myself. I swing a wild punch into the man's face, where he topples off the stool. From the sheer lean of my punch, I find myself slipping off the chair too. I can hear his boot lift as I hit the floor. This will be eventful.

You take a liking to a beautiful necklace a passing woman wears.
I smile warmly at her as I pass. "Nice necklace, lady!" The crude words put a frown on her face, but she turns and gives an embarrased smile before I lose sight of her.

Many, many things went wrong with you app. Lets start from the beginning, shall we?

For starters, many of your OOC answers were extremely weak. For example: "Who can use magic?: Mages." While not technically incorrect, we would have liked for you to give more concise and in-depth answers. As to which questions, pretty much all of them. Moving on.

Now we are in the land of IC. First off, while not technically disallowed, unique names that AREN'T YOUR IGN are a big bonus. We like interesting, well thought out characters here, not ones whose names are fairly drab and boring or just taken from something else (In this case, a slightly modified version of your IGN). Moving on down the list, my gosh, but your character is one tall fifteen year old. Six seven? Not likely. You also cannot start out as any of the classes that require a scholarship at the Academy unless you have been explicitly told by the all mighty Welknair, Baeshra, or anyone else of similar importance. Or a lore master. They work too. Unfortunately for you, you lacked this permission, so right off the bat your character is a no no. You also must be a Chancellory citizen or a Medori to play. You didn't even answer the question, which required a specific answer, correctly. It was not an optional thing. Your bio was honestly a pain to read, mainly because of the complete lack of spaces after any form of punctuation, on top of the unnecessary number of commas.. Not fun to read. Your bio was also extremely unrealistic. For instance, you say he was eight and already a great alchemist? Even if he was taught since he was four, that's still not that long to learn such a complex thing, especially for a child. You also say that the bandits decided to KILL EVERYONE except the TEN YEAR OLD CHILD AND HIS FAMILY, opting instead to force him to kill them so that he could join their merry band. Real talk. He's ten. He wouldn't kill his family so that he could be forced into slave labour. That makes absolutely no sense. Also, the world of TAC takes place on multiple small to medium sized floating islands. A horde of bandits couldn't simply wander around literally destroying towns without the Chancellory finding out and crushing them like the ants they are. Finally, your ICRs. Wow. Weak. We want actions, dialogue, the whole bit. Not just a single sentence of what your character says.

You also stated you played on two other "strict" servers. While I don't see us as being strict per se, we almost certainly are tough to get into and could be precieved as being strict. I'm assuming you left those other servers because you found them strict, so we probably aren't the best for you right now.

Thank you for showing interest in TAC and best of luck in finding a new server. Please do NOT contact myself or any other staff members about this app. Please do not reapply or post hate on either our forums or this thread.
