Im starting to think these forums may not be the best bet for you people out there experiencing issues with payment and such.
Does any member of Mojang even come to these forums? i think that getsatisfaction site is Mojangs 'official' help spot. They just recently posted about account issues etc.
water sources are all over the place. they can be below ground as well. Maybe bring some buckets with water in them,

If you tke 2 buckets you can create an infinite water source by doing this
Please note that is water, not wool(in this example). I just used it to show you which blocks to pour water into.
Fill & with each of the buckets. 1 bucket on the left, one bucket on the right. After that you can use this source unlimited amounts of times, as long as you 'scoop' water from the center block.
Alpha - Includes all updates to the full game, and any add-ons afterwards for 'free'. *Note: MODS are free anyway, so i cant imagine what sort of expansion packs we would get that Modders couldnt make.
Beta - Includes updates up to and including the full game. Any additional content after the full game you will need to buy. I cant imagine add-ons costing an arm and a leg for a game that was originally 15-20 dollars.
So NO....you DO NOT need to pay for the RELEASE VERSION of minecraft.
Please note this is in no way a slight against you, nor a lit fuze to blow up into a full war. I just wanted to tell you some of the things you are really falling short on.
My guess is you either don't access these forums, or don't have the time/care enough to answer them. I think it would be VERY BENEFICIAL if you would come on here and address some of these issues. I am going to try to accomplish that for you. Even if i have to make a Twitter account for a day just to point Notch and his Mojang buddies to this thread.
Essentially, this is a support thread, WITHOUT support. Please post your specs and issues here, but find answers in your own thread. Its nothing personal, i just really want to keep this clean. If Notch and Mojang wont come to us then dammit were going to them, but we aren't going to be torch and pitchforked. Were going to have a clear, concise list of specs and issues.
So people. Here's what i want you to do. I want you to post your specs. Lets try to keep this thread as clean as possible. This is NOT a support thread. Please DO NOT come in here and ASK FOR HELP. I have included a 'section' for any issues you may have had, do have, or had but fixed. PLEASE, i personally feel this is our best bet at getting certain issues resolved. We have a hell of a support team(just the regular members of the forums who spend their time here dishing out possible fixes to issues) and that's both encouraging and sad. While we are all essentially Beta testers, what is the point of testing something if we just compile all our information in numerous threads, filled with rage and libel. If we are going to actually be testers, lets give our "bosses" some data to work with.
So if you are responding to this thread please follow this 'guideline'.
CPU: AMD 955 Phenom II x4 Black Edition(Overclocked) RAM: 4g DDR2 800 Gskill (2x2g) GPU: ENGTX460 768mb GDDR5. Nvidia driver: 266.58 PSU: 500w OCZ Modular Psu OS: Windows 7 64-bit (no ServicePack1) Java: Build 24 (Current as of 3-15-10)
Issues: Lag when using "Max" settings. Inability to log in during the weekends.
Make sure Java is Build 24. Make sure your video drivers are up to date. On the Launcher go to Options(the button above Log In. Check the FORCE UPDATES box.
Do you mean access a map on your PC, say if you went to visit some family, installed MC on THAT pc?
If you are connecting to a server, you connect to that map. You cant connect to 1 server, and have a different map. If anything you are 'streaming' a map from the server, not downloading it. Thats why it is constantly 'updating chunks'.
If you want a single player map on your pc, to be available on another pc, you need to put it on a server, or put the world on some sort of disk(Flashdrive/USB stick) would be best.
You could have a server set up on your home PC. Then connect to it from another PC and play it.
Other than that either what you want to do is impossible, or i still dont understand what you want.
If you are running a server on your computer (Minecraft_server.exe) then there will be a file called world. That is your 'map'.
I have 2 server. One i host locally(on my PC), and one thats hosted by a provider(dedicated server, always running).
I download/FTP/'rip' the map from my dedicated server, and place it in my Local server to mess around with it(my local server has mods liek bukkit and stuff, mainly for testing before implementing it on my real server).
So yes, if you wanted to take your map and send it to a buddy so he can play it, or something, you can do that.
I copy/paste the whole file structure(its about 30 or so files) into my local server.
I dont think you are able to import maps into your single player though. You may be able to, but i am not sure.

Also. 100+ degrees is NOT ok. My GPU idles at 40. If you meant 112*F, then thats fine. But 100*C+, thats not right.
Open your case, clean the dust. Make sure everything is seated properly. Move wires, add a fan.
My case has 6 fans. I live in Tucson so even in the summer thats not the best.

Now i can run MC and a server on my pc, while a buddy connects to it or my dedicated server, while i stream Netflix.
Point being, i needed to get a better router to handle thruoghput. I deffinately noticed a difference.
FWIW i went from a WRT54Gv8 Linksys to N300 Netgear Router.

-Update Java(Build 24)
-Try the stand-alone and the browser version. What browser(IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari)
-Force your MC to update.(On the log in screen there are 2 buttons. Top is OPTIONS. Choose "Force update". Login.
-Update drivers for your graphics. I believe the is an auto detect for Intel.
http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/
Try those and get back to us with some PC specs.
