    posted a message on *{[\|/]}* COMBAT EVOLVED *{[\|/]}*
    Hello everyone! I hope the day has been treating you all well. As you might have guessed by the title, this post is going to be about the combat in minecraft and how it can be improved with minor adjustments and simple additions. Before you post in the comments how I'm an idiot for even letting the idea cross my mind, I'd ask of you to hear me out and read the entire page, and then, if you really hate all of it after that, let me know. Now, the page is gonna be a long one so let's jump right in to it and quit wasting time with this cheap introduction used to get your attention. Okay where to begin.. Oh! How about...

    *COMBAT ITSELF*

    The combat in minecraft is seriously lacking and can be imporved with simple adjustments. Now you may be saying to yourself "But Shadss, minecraft is a game about mining and crafting. Combat is just icing on the cake!" True, however, many people, including myself, strive to make that icing the best damn icing anyone has ever had (Like, buttercream frosting)!

    Now, let's be honest with ourselves here people, minecraft's combat is very simple. You see a target, walk up to it, mash the left click button and either you or the target dies. If it's multiplayer combat, same thing. The only difference is, he has a iron sword, you don't, he can mash faster than you, you can't, and he now has a head still attached to his neck, you don't. No, your head is sailing across the world because he just drop-kicked that b***h after he decapitated you. Wouldn't it be nice if that outcome would change because the combat system added this little thing called "Skill" into the mix?

    Skill and strategy can be added by just adding a single thing; a delay in between attacked with the weaponry. Don't believe me? Well, look at the blocking system. Tell me honestly how many times you've used that in PvP? Maybe once, then you figured out that while your standing there like a dunce with your sword raised high defending an oncoming assault of blows, that the other player will not let up or give in, because there is no delay on attacks. Think about it, adding a delay would at skill into the mix of combat. Swing your sword, block and wait for the opponent to swing while you wait for your swing to recharge.

    And that's not the only thing. Adding various types of weaponry that do different things, like one that swings faster but does less damage, or one that swings really slow but can break through blocks. Adding new armor that slows down how fast you swing but protects you more, or armor that speeds up your swing but offers less protection. The combinations are endless, and I'm just scratching the surface. Let's continue, shall we?

    *WEAPON TYPES*

    No wait! Before you click that big red X in the top right corner (Or small red circle in the top left corner if you're one of THOSE people.) hear me out. I'm not asking for AKs and RPG-7s. I'm asking for simple weapons with different stats that combine with the delay on the weaponry and the blocking system, adding a more advanced combat system in general. The way I'm going to do this is simply list off the weapons and then inform you of their stats. Simple.

    *ARMOR TYPES*

    So, at the beginning of the weapons part of this post I said something about "Armors that slow you down but provide more protection" and blah blah blah. Basically, all armors would have a new system, to match up with the delay of weapon types. This means, Diamond armor is not necessarily the best armor you can have. Basically, for every point of armor the set of armor has, it would had a fourth of a second of delay. So, if you had a set of armor on that had 10 points of armor, well, that would add a 2.5 second delay to every swing you have. If you plan on being an agile rouge-like bad a** that swings swords and daggers like there's no tomorrow, well, you''d have to wear leather armor or just go without it. Or, you can wear cloth armor. Cloth armor? Don't know what that is? Well let me explain, along with other types of armor that I had ideas for.

    -Cloth Armor-

    COO: (Crafted out of) Wool.

    Can be Dyed?: Yes.

    Protection: 1 fourth of a AP(armor Point) for every piece of armor.

    -Chains-
    (Chains will be needed for the armor that I have ideas for, and the standard iron chain mail that we have that we currently have no access too.)

    Crafting:

    [m] [m] [m] (M = Either Iron, Gold, Or diamond.)
    [m] [ ] [m]
    [m] [m] [m]

    Quantity: Each craft gives 8 chains

    -Iron Chainmail-

    COO: Iron Chains

    Can Be Dyed?: No

    Protection: Boots: 1 AP Breastplate: 2 AP Helm: 1.25 AP Leggings: 1.5 AP

    -Gold Chainmail-

    COO: Gold Chains

    Can Be Dyed?: No

    Protection: Boots: 0.5 AP Breastplate: 1 AP Helm: 0.75 AP Leggings: 1 AP

    -Diamond Chainmail-

    COO: Diamond Chains

    Can Be Dyed?: No

    Protection: Boots: 2 AP Breastplate: 3.5 AP Helm: 2 AP Leggings: 2.5 AP

    -Spider Silk-

    COO: String

    Can Be Dyed?: Yes

    Protection: 1 half of an AP for all pieces of armor.

    That is currently all I have involving armor, for now. Later on, I might add more armor, maybe even add more things that armor and weapons can be crafted out of. Hey... That's a good idea... Hmm, to the drawing board!

    *PHYSICAL UPGRADES*

    So, right now in minecraft we have the ability to enchant our armor and weapons with outstanding powers all at the cost of the souls of other monsters and players (EXP points). But the one thing I never understood is why I have to rip the living soul out of an enemy just to sharpen my blade, something I COULD have done with a whet stone. Basically, I'm implying the ability to alter your weapons statistics with physical items rather than enchantments. Now, obviously enchantments would be a whole lot better than physically upgrading your weapons and armor, but physically upgrading your weapons and armor would be easier to do, and a quicker task to accomplish than going out and hunting hundreds of mobs for the ability to sharpen weaponry.

    Physically upgrading your weapons would be able to stack with enchantments. So, if you have an enchantment of fire aspect and you altered your weapon to have the slight ability of sharpness, then your weapon would light people on fire and do more damage. One other thing with physically upgrading your weapons, there's pretty much always a trade off. If you hollow out your blade to make it lighter, there for making it swing faster, you'd take away most of the durability in the sword. If you make it razor sharp, you'd take away more durability. If you reinforce your armor to make it stronger, it will no doubt make it heavier, and so on and so forth.

    When a physical upgrade is added, it will place the name of the upgrade in dark grey over the weapon/armor piece. when you hover over it with your mouse. If there is an enchantment, the dark grey upgrade will be below the enchantment name.

    Physically upgrading your weapons and armor is in no way my suggestion to replace enchantments, it's rather another way for you to improve your armor and weapons. With the ability to physically improve your armor and weapons, have various choices in weaponry, having the ability to enchant, and have the ability to use the blocking function, plus whatever I add later; the possibilities for combat can truly be endless. Now, let's jump right into the available physical upgrades.

    (NOTE: After crafting the upgrade, to add it to a weapon/piece of armor, place the weapon/piece of armor in a crafting grid with the chosen upgrade.)

    -Reinforced-

    What It Does: Adds 0.25 of an armor point for every level added (Until reached to maxed out)

    Pros: Gives a better protection level.

    Cons: Costs a bit, slows the player down.

    Crafting:

    [L] [M] [L] (L = Leather A = Piece of Armor M = Material armor is made out of)
    [L] [A] [L]
    [L] [M] [L]

    Max Level: IV

    -Spikes-

    What It Does: Rather than add mystical thorns to your armor, it adds physical spikes that deal 0.25 damage for every level. Can NOT be stacked with thorns.

    Pros: Adds the ability to deal a little bit of damage when an enemy strikes. Spikes can be poisoned.

    Cons: Can not stack with thorns. Spikes break after a few strikes, and have to be replaced.

    Crafting:

    [I] [ ] [ ] (I = Iron Ingot)
    [I] [I] [ ]
    [ ] [ ] [ ]

    Bonus Crafting:

    [P] [S] [ ] (P = Potion. Potions of healing can be added, but will heal attacker. S = Spike)
    [ ] [ ] [ ]
    [ ] [ ] [ ]

    Max Level: I

    -Whet Stone-

    What does it do?: When applied to any melee weapon, it adds the physical upgrade "Razor" and increases the damage of the sword by 0.5 hearts every level. When the whet stone is used, it is destroyed.

    Pros: Can stack with Sharpness, adds damage.

    Cons: Makes 5% of durability disappear with every level, whet stone is destroyed after every use.

    Crafting:

    [I] [SS} [ ] (SS = Smooth stone CS = Cobble Stone I = Iron Ingot.
    [I] [CS] [ ]
    [ ] [ ] [ ]

    Max Level: IV

    -Hollowed Out-

    What Does It Do?: It hollows out the insides of a weapon (Yes, I know this isn't realistic) making the weapon lighter but making it much easier to break. For every level, it takes 0.5 seconds off the delay of the weapon.

    Pros: Decreases the delay on the melee weapon you have.

    Cons: Decreases the max durability by 10% for every level.

    Crafting:

    [ ] [ ] [ ] (W = Weapon of Choice IP = Iron Pick
    [ ] [W] [ ]
    [ ] [IP] [ ]

    Max Level: II

    -Double String-

    What Does It Do?: By adding an extra string to the bow, it allows the player to shoot two arrows at once, but decreases accuracy.

    Pros: Allows the player to fire two arrows at once.

    Cons: Decreases the accuracy of the bow but 15%

    Crafting:

    [ ] [L] [ ] (B = Bow of choice (Including crossbow) st = string L = leather)
    [ ] [B] [ ]
    [ ] [st] [ ]

    Max Level: I

    -Loose String-

    What Does It Do?: By making the string of the bow loose, it allows you to pull the bow string back faster (Because of the lack of resistance), but decreases the range of the bow quite a bit.

    Pros: Makes DBT faster by 5% for every level.

    Cons: Makes the range of the bow decrease by 10% for every level.

    Crafting:

    [ ] [st] [ ]
    [ ] [B] [ ]
    [ ] [st] [ ]

    That is currently all I have at the moment. I will be adding more soon.

    posted a message on Better Dyed Armor
    Hey guys! It's Shadss again, and I'm back with a new idea! So, currently we can dye leather armor a single color, I would like to improve on that. A new form of dying could both complicate, and simplify the ability to dye leather armor, so without messing around any more, let's jump right into my idea.

    Multi-Colored Armors
    ----------------------------

    So, I think the best way to describe this idea would be the leather helmet. :LH:
    When you equip a dyed leather helmet, it has a large brown stripe across the middle of the helmet, so what I want to do is allow the player to dye that part of the helmet as well.

    By placing a dye on top of the helmet, would dye the brown stripe that color.

    Example (Colored Wool = Types of Dye):
    :: :Red: ::
    :: :LH: :Black:
    :: :: ::
    If you dye the helmet like this, it would make the brown stripe red and the main part of the helmet black.

    Example for Breastplate:
    :White: :Red: :White:
    :Purple: :LA: :Purple:
    :: :Green: ::

    If you dye the breastplate like this, it would make the shoulder pads grey, the parts around the neck red, the parts below the arms (The sides) purple, and the main part of the breastplate would be green.

    Example for Leggings:
    :: :Orange: ::
    :Green: :LPANTS: :Green:
    :Red: :: :Red:

    If you dye the leggings like this, it would make the first two pixles around your waist orange, it would make your knee caps green, and everything else red.

    Example for Boots:
    :: :Blue: ::
    :White: :Lboots: :White:
    :: :Black: ::

    If you dye the boots like this, it would make the top rim of the boots blue, it would make the bottom of the boots black, and it would make the main part of the boots grey.

    If this is added into minecraft, not only will we be able to have infinet types of colors, but we would have infinet amounts of ways to create specialized armor.

    Thanks for taking time out of the day to read my post.
