posted a message on Steam, Minecraft, and Story Mode

I'm a little confused here. Why specifically put Minecraft's story mode on Steam, but not the original game? Or is the original game coming? What's going on and why are they taking this route? I tried asking people on the Steam discussion boards about why such an odd decision would be made, but the most response I got was "bcuz PC mustard race f4git". Is there any reason to not also announce bringing the main game to Steam? Is there a technical limitation that prohibits it?

I'm probably more confused about this than I should be, but it seems weird to release part of your franchise on one interweb platform and another part on a different one. This isn't like the early 2000's, where every franchise sequel was on the PS2 because it was so successful, it's just weird to see it happen like this nowadays

Odd occurrence, not sure how long it's been happening, but I think since 1.8 is a good guess:

Strange, dancing white pixels at a certain distance. I think it might be me seeing through the space inbetween blocks and into the skybox, but it annoys me a lot. Is there any fix for this? Should I install Optifine?

This doesn't make any sense. It's like saying "Man, what do you guys think Fallout 5 is gonna be like?". It's the exact mentality that leads to buying then never bothering. I know it's an update, but this is what pushes companies to rush games and in this case updates.

A someone of the somehow-still-alive Sonic fanbase, no. It is most definitely not dead.

You know that you could always make boats out of different woods right? And it would always return oak?

Exactly. But he said it was a bug. In other words, something they're going to change and fix.

As in now boats look different with different wood probably

I never said anything about them releasing a broken snapshot. What I'm saying is that they should have more to show - and SHOULD be showing - more than what they have now, especially after almost half a year of work. The teases they've released thus far give me no reason to believe they've been doing anything substantial recently; and therefore kill hype for the update, instead of generating it.

And what I'm saying is you don't make the rules, and that Mojang can do whatever the hell they want. Again - maybe they aren't teasing it because it's not done? I mean, only recently have they started asking for input on what to actually put in the changes to the combat. Doesn't that speak for how finished this update is and how much they're able to show right now? I mean, here's what I currently have done for a game I started today:

This is all I have. Should I now release this absolute nothing of a game to the public for 30$ on Steam early access? Should I do minutely updates of each pixel I draw or each character I type into the code?

    Some game designers:

Here, have a complete changelog detailing everything we're coding in so you know we're doing hard work!

    Other game designers:

We can't tell you anything, it would spoil the game.

    Mojang:

OOOOHHHH MYSTERY AND SPECULATION! OOOOOH! 3SPOOKY5U

Seriously, though. Nobody likes this endless teasing. From what I can tell, all they've actually added in the past 5 months is a mysterious block that looks like it has an unfinished texture and so far has no purpose.

    Good work.

Get off your high horse. Why don't you reveal things about a game that you make, okay? They tell us plenty of stuff when the updates are coming out or have snapshots, or are at the point in development where everything isn't a broken piece of crap that will take months to finish? I mean, it's not like they're releasing it anytime soon. Ever consider the idea that it's not quite done, or even in a showable condition? Oh but no, they should just release everything. Rush the hell out of it, remember that amazing Sonic game that was rushed in 2006? Or how about the amazing 4 development days of Ride to Hell: Retribution? That game is great, right? I mean, obviously the consumer controls whether something can have enough polish or functionality to be released, right?

I don't think we even need much new stuff at this point, just polish on what we've got. And by that, I mean making skins animated, having more joints and moving parts on the ingame models, fully fixed lighting (how is this still a problem?), support for any and all kinds of modifications, balancing enemy AI, the hunger system, block rarity and the ability to get things so that it requires effort but is actually worth the time. Stability and the game's odd manner of only processing changes in blocks half the time are still major problems. It's like a car that barely runs and we seem to think that duct taping carrots and new kinds of doors are going to help when the transmission is the problem. Most of the things I listed were aesthetic or something easy in the code, but the overall game is kinda broken, in a way. I think we need a solid engine before we build the car.

posted a message on Host's custom skin not showing in LAN game.

I'm gonna say that this isn't the case. I'm the only person in my group who's updated to the new skin system, but no matter what skins we're using, the host specifically shows up as the default.

posted a message on Is latest version really "No Java" now?
While I'm here (and laughing) I do actually have a question: is Java the reason that we've got a lot of these stability and performance issues? It's absolutely a ridiculous idea to rewrite the game in a different language, but if it were, would that mean that this game that's behind 15 years graphically would actually be able to run on a mid to low-end PC? Something feels wrong about my framerate drops in Minecraft when I look at Skyrim's ultra settings running at a steady FPS on my laptop.

Really been enjoying Sonic Boom. It gives me that Saturday morning cartoon vibe but still manages to be cohesive enough to stay somewhat grounded in the games. Not to mention, it's got gorgeous CG animation, great writing, and it actually knows these characters as characters. Eggman is the best, though. It's got two tie-in games which I can barely recommend, because they are as average as you can get with Sonic. Just meh. Don't listen to what Game Grumps would have you believe, there are plenty of worse Sonic games than Rise of Lyric.

Need to keep this topic alive, for sake of I want my skin and everyone's skins to work in multiplayer. I don't get why this didn't happen before 1.7.X, because it has nothing to do with the new skin format. We had LAN servers work with skins before...so what's the deal?

Inb4 someone mentions Nina & Alexander

...Aaaaanyway, I think that something like this, sort of like spider jockey generation, could potentially work well, but I don't think there's enough different mobs, nor enough different body types for said mobs for the variety not to wear thin quickly. Plus, for mobs that use weapons or fly, it wouldn't exactly make a lot of sense to have what is supposedly a mindless beast do said actions.

Partial support, if we get more regular mobs.

posted a message on Fullscreen causes crashing...
...I'm not sure what's going on here. Yesterday I installed TMI to my game and everything was fine and dandy, worked just as you'd expect. Today, starting the game caused it to crash. I assumed this was something to do with the mod, so I basically wiped my folder of all things I didn't need, barring my maps and such. Everything was seemingly fine until I hit F11 and immediately it crashed. I don't know why. It's completely vanilla. But turning to fullscreen mode crashes the game. Doing it from the options menu also causes this. There's no reason this should be happening as the client is no more modded now than it was before I installed TMI, so what gives?
