What role-playing experience do you have?: I have traversed the internet for quite some time when I was a wee lass. When starcraft first came out in 1999 along with brood war shortly after, I learned that roleplaying was quite exhilarating and fun, as you would weave stories for your characters and be that character when you're roleplaying with someone else. It was quite a new world for me in a life of bleakness with constant bullying from kids that didn't understand the appeal of Dungeons and Dragons in my teenage years.

Soon it became clear that I slowly was becoming more experienced in making stories and even hosting a few events as a dungeon master, I soon migrated to Warcraft 3, Frozen throne. Soon after it would be onwards to WoW, Starcraft 2, Minecraft (On a plethora of servers that have died.)

I always was nomadic when it came to minecraft roleplay servers, it was a rarity that some servers was able to be interesting enough to hold my attention.

Why did you choose us?: I always was nomadic when it came to minecraft roleplay servers, it was a rarity that some servers was able to be interesting enough to hold my attention. I am hoping that this server will be interesting as others have told me, and I hope to meet you all in roleplay and skype.

Skype Name (Optional for Group Chat): maria.kuneai

    IC:

    Name: Maria Akiyama

    Age: 21

    Gender: Female

    Ethnicity: Japanese / English

Place of Birth: On the Defiance, in the medical bay.

    Defining characteristics and physical appearance:

Maria is a short five foot five female with a heart shaped face, jet black hair that is neatly tied into a ponytail as the very tip falls just an inch above her waist, her black eyes an exotic mix between japanese and english. She is a small framed female with a nervous tendency to stroke a lock of her hair as she speaks with others, a stutter sometimes edging it's way into some of her sentences as the chat continues with someone she isn't well acquainted with. Her apparel is loaded to the brim with various leather pockets, satchels and bags strapped to her bodice that contains various wrenches, spanners, allen keys, micrometers, calipers and a walkie-talkie, neatly tucked into a chest pocket.

Strengths and Weaknesses: Maria's small size enables her to move with ease whilst moving in and around various machinery on the ship, sometimes her small frame is mostly useful for escaping the grasps of various men that would attempt to flirt with her.

With Maria mostly working around machinery, salvaging and reading various books, she has become socially inept. Sometimes, when a conversation happens the stutters would slowly wiggle their way into her sentences, causing a very noticeable stutter.

As a small-framed female with arms, she isn't exactly the strongest female, but she can get the job done.

Does your character own property on the ship? If so, what kind:

Maria was left a moderately sized cabin that is lined with shelves of various mechanical books, history books and fresh journals, ready to be written in. On the desk in the middle of piles of books was a tool kit of various spanners, allen keys, calipers and micrometers.

Background Story (At least two quality paragraphs): Maria Akiyama was born to a family that worked as a maintenance upon the Defiance, her mother of Japanese descent worked in the position of 3rd engineer in the engineering bay of the Defiance, sometimes going through the various departments from engines to communications, checking and making sure that everything was in check. Her father was a deckhand turned salvager as he had taken various jobs as one before boarding the Defiance as a deckhand. Months after onboard the Defiance, he decided to turn into a salvager to repair various parts of the ship with the things he dredges up from the bottom of the sea.

It was soon after that through a contract her mother had met her father, they would work together and she would delegate to him as to what pieces they need for the ship and what pieces could be stowed for later use.

It was through her father's rather embarrassing but rather alluring advances that her mother soon fell in love with him and together they soon concieved a ball of energy that would be an alarming 5.5 pounds of energy borne into the world and to be a part of the ship nine months later.

From her younger years to the age of fourteen she had been working under her mother and learning about various parts and machinery that keeps the ship working and afloat. The various sounds, thrums and whines of machinery was like a chorus, an opera to her ears as she would fix and patch up some leaks, replacing the odd fixture here and there under her mother's watchful eye. After a couple of years, she would let her daughter tinker on her first engine maintenance, forever watchful as her mother would note shoddy work and show her how to do it properly.

It was after five years on working in ship maintenance and tinkering with various fixtures and engines, fixing crane rigging and communications relays. Soon her father would offer her to go out on scuba-diving lessons, and he would be her teacher. It was seconds after submerging into the water, her eyes grew wide as she slowly descended to the wreckage she had spotted.

A relic of the past, that remained undisturbed as it was intact. The oceans probably took her and sunk her to the depths as there were no sign of holes in the hull. A finger tapped her shoulder, causing her to jump and to turn her curiosity away from the wreckage to her father motioning to the welding torch. Nodding, she followed him to the door that was still airtight to the interior of the ship. Turning on the underwater torch, he began to cut open the door, slowly tracing the outline of the door until it popped away from the hull of the graveship. The amounts of bubbles that spewed forth, it was evident that no one has ever opened that door that led the ship's interior.

Hours later she would pop to the surface with a smile from ear-to-ear she is really taking to the whole salvaging job as her dad attached ropes to various crates, winching them to the surface with the Defiance's cranes.

It was until a couple months ago that her parents had a job in Greenland and would be gone for several months. Her father, giving her a decent amount of cash to have soft-padding during financially hard times. Her mother, giving her a decent sized cabin in the upper sections of the ship, loaded with shelves and a crate full of books that helped her mother learn about the various workings on the ship.

Soon, her life as an independent adult began..

    On the Defiance.

Rp Scenario (Two paragraphs, any scenario you'd like)

Walking to the edge of the Defiance, she looked down into the abyss known as the ocean, known to have taken so many lives and consumed a great deal of cities and valuable materials. Putting on her wet suit, along with her flippers. Placing her goggles over her head, she checked to make sure the oxygen tanks were open, the gauges working right. Her underwater torch strapped to her side.

Grabbing the rungs to the side of the ship, she slowly descended down and into the water. The water was cold, she shivered a little before her body acclimatized to the water around her. Fitting the goggles over her eyes, the oxygen mask over her mouth. She dived into the water and began kicking as her ears popped. It felt like an eternity before her eyes opened, growing wide as to the surroundings of the oceanic flora.

Looking down, she was filled with a sense of foreboding as she reluctantly kicked more, descending further into the depths of the ocean. To her, it felt like descending into the maw of a sleeping monster, you may never know when it will awaken and close it's maw on you. Soon, the darkness cleared as she came upon an underwater metropolis with a plethora of ships lining the landscape around the edges. It was a massive grave for and untold number of people that have died there...

She closed her eyes and gave a silent blessing.

    Don't forget your old shipmates.

Edit: Svys, Sunless sea is awesome. :D

Define Powergaming: forcing a player into a situation where you are overpowering them and forcing them into a situation they're not comfortable with/ have no way to fight back.

We don't have much here, as none of the servers story has been released, so for now make your story as you want. Players will carry onto the the main world either way, just keep it medievil

    Character Name: Maria Ageleitter
Describe your characters personality: A bit of a loner type, Quiet, Stutters quite a bit, observant, calculating.

A Small backstory of your character (Doesn't have to be long, the most I demand is a paragraph or a short summary.) :

Maria Ageleitter was born to a clan of Ageleitters which among nine other clans govern a small municipality of humans that have taken to the underground and have carved themselves homes to live in throughout the ages. In Maria's younger years, she would go to the mines with her older brother Yoltohm and often watch him prospect ores and would coordinate with the other clans to bring various hauls back to the municipality for smelting and smithing them into various tools and trinkets.

When Maria was at the age of eighteen, she would leave her clan as a tradition to travel the world with the vast knowledge of her expertise in mining and smithing.

Real Age (You lie, you die peasant!)- I am at the number of times my life has cycled through this mortal coil, is 21.

Have you read the Tenants of Law and the Lore?- Yes, I have.

What is Dare's favorite Music?- House Musica

    Character Name- Maria Ageleitter

    Character Race- Human

    Character Age- 23

Backstory Summary (at least 1 paragraph with acceptable spelling and clear thinking displayed)- Maria Ageleitter was born to a clan of Ageleitters which among nine other clans govern a small municipality of humans that have taken to the underground and have carved themselves homes to live in throughout the ages.

What McMMO skills (1 gathering, 1 combat limit) would you prefer?- May I opt out of one combat skill and go for Mining and smithing please?

    Roleplay Example-
You walk into the Wandering Lance Inn, hoping that there may be a room enough for another world weary traveller. As you enter the common room, you see that there are only 6 people including the inkeep behind a long table.
4 people are sitting at a table and drinking merrily, while the 5th person is sitting at the bar, quietly conversing with the Inkeep.
    What do you do?

Maria would walk in, shuddering from the outside cold. Looking around at the various people that have congregated in this bar, she would sniffle her nose at the strange smells and odours she hasn't smelt before. Some were pleasant, some were unpleasant by any stretch of the imagination. She would wrinkle her nose in disgust as she sat down and interrupted the innkeeper for a mead with extra foam.

How did you find us: Minecraft site.
Extra Info: (Skype and such) You guys know my skype!

    Character Name: Goda Ironfist

    Race: Stone Dwarf

    Age:25

Class: (warrior, mage, farmer, etc) Warrior/Miner

    Appearance: - Female
    - 5" 4
    - 102 lbs
    -Her hair colour is silvery-white
    -Eye colour is a sky-blue

She has a scar over her right eye extending from her eyebrow to the bottom of her right cheek.
However, the odd things is her right eye is unaffected. One might think of magic to restore her eye.
She seems somewhat withdrawn whenever she interacts with people, however if people interact with her enough she will open up to them over time.

Personality Traits: A very strong headed woman, very hard to intimidate. However, she is more withdrawn from socializing with others and is hard to get along with until you know her better.

Character Strengths: Hard to intimidate, adept in melee combat, has no need for shiny hocus-pocus magicka. Her muscles toned from endless hours of mining.

Character Weaknesses: Has a fear of lakes/Oceans, Can't use magic worth crap. Believes that bows are for cowards.

Backstory: Goda Hammerstrike was born into the clan of the Swinging Hammers, ever since she was able to take her first steps until her adolescent years, she was always near a forge and a anvil, always eager to learn the trade of her grandfather and father. When she was finally at the sweet age of sixteen, she would often go into the mines with her family to make statues and trinkets hewn from their mountain home of Hul'dalar, a vast dwarf kingdom of a thousand and thirty five souls by their standards. The halls were adorned with gold and silver, on the ceilings were cast with dwarven-made stalacites that gave off light almost as bright as a sun. Goda Hammerstrike of the clan Swinging Hammers recovered her breath. Leaning back against the roughly hewn wall of the watch tower, she cupped her hand to her bushy brown eyebrows and shaded her eyes from the unaccustomed light. The ascent had been grueling and her close-woven chainmail, Axe, and shield weighed heavy on her legs. There was no one younger to stand watch in her stead. Only a few days previously, the nine clans of Hul'dalar had been attacked in their underground halls. Many had lost their lives in the battle, but the young and inexperienced were the first to fall. Then came the sickness. No one knew where it had sprung from, but it preyed on the dwarves, sapping their strength and enfeebling their hands. And so it was Goda, despite her age, was guarding the gate that night. Two vast slabs of solid rock erected by the dwarves to stem the tide of the invading beasts. For some the sight of the gate was not enough of a deterrent, bleached bones and twisted scras of armour were all the remained of them now. However, the war with the orcs wasn't over. Goda was one of the many to abandon her homeland in search of peace and solitude.

Server is very good, better than the prebuilt servers where admins hand hold you the whole way. Gives a sense of freedom to make an impact on this world.

Here's an idea. For it to have more 'realism'
    • Say you're mining a 3x3 tunnel. you should add wood with a fence as if it's keeping the ceiling up. If not the shaft could collapse on you. Kinda like support struts in mines, if you don't have any or little to none support structures. You run the higher risk of a cave-in, most likely blocking the way out.
    • Another addition to the mining, if you want to 'warn' players that it's about to collapse you should add particle effects like dust or sand streaming down upon the player, which would alert the player of the impending cave in.

For booleans, 1 is usually true, and 0 is usually false.
You set turretIgnoresOwner to false. That means the turrets will NOT ignore the owner.
You have to set it to true.

I have done so, Turrets still shoot me :C
