posted a message on Need help with large (50+) server
I am currently running a VPS server through HazeNet with a player cap of 45. Unfortunately, my server is generally full, and I've been getting complaints about people not being able to get in. Likewise, the server can't really handle this many players for sustained periods of time. I have to restart the server every so often, and we get occasional lag spikes.

All in all, I'm extremely satisfied with how well the hosting is, considering how many players I have online at once, and how cheap the server is. However, I need to switch over to a new server in order to increase my player cap and reduce the amount of lag spikes.

I'm looking to run between 50 and 70 players at a time, possibly more in the future. Could anyone recommend a decent server host for something of that size? I figure if my $30 VPS can run 45 people, I should be more than fine with a $50-70 dedicated server for the amount of players I need.

posted a message on In need of a Linux script
Due to what appears to be a massive memory leak in the SMP server code, I'm forced to restart my server a few times a day to clear the inevitable lag.

What I was looking for is a script that will do this for me at set hours, but since the forum search is broken I'm having a hard time finding anything.

Basically, every 8 hours I want the server to send a server message (Hey0 mod) 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 minute, 30, 15, 10, 5 seconds before the restart to give people time to expect it. Followed by a save-all command, stop, and then a restart (screen -S minecraft java -Xms2048m -jar Minecraft_Mod.jar nogui).

Has anyone here used a script like this, or could point me towards information?

I have no idea what I did, but I managed to get it working. Wasn't with any of those commands, but great to know for the future so I don't have to spend half an hour googling things lol.

Yeah, don't really know Linux. I've figured out how to edit files and stuff, and how to unzip, but the filename is "minecraft_mod 100.jar" and it won't let me use a space. _100 and %20100 don't work, either. Can't change the file name because of the space, too.

Is there a basic VPS tutorial for this stuff? Like, once I run it how do I access the config files to edit?

I have the files downloaded but I don't even know how to unzip them to extract the .jar =/

I have no idea how to do this, and the search feature on the forums is down.

Basically I just need to install Hey0 on my VPS server running CentOS 5.
