Did you notice the End? Or the new sounds? What about the major bug fixes, the new biomes? Have you noticed that we now get a pre release every week?
Oceans do still need to be worked on, but they aren't something anyone needs to complain about.
what does this have to do with the op's question..
He wasn't complaining about lack of content. He was asking where the stuff Notch was inspired to make is.. and i agree with him.
instead of completing this ocean project he was so "inspired" to do, he moved on to other things that he should have jotted down and worked on later. It's this work pattern that's left us with many incomplete features, such as the nether, the end, yada yada.
I guarantee there will be a "skylands" dimension; it's too popular an idea to not implement. Notch probably decided to hold out on creating it for now so he can charge for it some time after release
First started playing when it went Beta. I liked the whole survival aspect; how you were thrown into a world to survive, build structures, etc. It was unique in it's own way and it was simple.
Now it has potions, villagers, mushroom biomes, an RPG system.. Doesn't appeal to me at all personally. Feels like the above mentioned, but mixed with a very watered down (Both graphically and mechanically) modern RPG.
And I can't help but feel like the people who actually like this stuff are very nerdy - I mean, I can't talk because I play Minecraft, but this stuff adds a whole new level of nerd to this game. This is the kinda stuff I avoided in the Mod forum pre-1.8
This is sooo lame - this and mushroom cows. I hope they're just joking.
I mean, Minecraft wasn't necessarily "cool" before, and I certainly didn't brag about it to my peers, but this is a whole new level of lame; it's childish.

Someone needs to make an "Awesomeifier" mod that removes the lame, and maybe adds a little cool.

... Towns, and people. That would totally ruin the "Desolate survival" theme that appealed to so many.
Ha, but those are pretty stupid. He wouldn't crap on his game like that.

These faith-gaming related sites are always made by atheists with a grudge against religion and too much time on their hands.

Most developers offer special incentives to buying the legal copy of a game in Russia because of this. Example:
There's hardly a thing you can do.
