    Quote from MartinTheMess»

So...do we have a brewing recipe for this Luck Potion yet? Neither the Wiki nor the snapshot changelog has it.

My guess: brew a fermented spider eye onto potion of leaping. Or make it only obtainable from killing witches or something.

On the one hand, if this is an easily obtained potion from farmable ingredients, it's kind of overpowered, and no one is gonna want to open a loot chest or slaughter a bunch of mobs in a grinder without quaffing a luck potion first. But make it too hard to obtain...and no one is gonna want to open a loot chest without quaffing one, so a multiplayer server is gonna be filled with "DO NOT OPEN THIS CHEST YET" signs and ticked-off players angry at newbs for opening the chests they found while caving.

My interpretation was that this potion only affects item drops or rather items that are generated on the spot after killing mobs, fishing, etc.
When a player finds a chest it and its loot has already been generated long ago, so a potion of luck should have no effect on those.

posted a message on Enchantment Chest / Levelling Up Issues

The others have already said it but to clarify some things:

    1. Between the enchanting table and bookshelves should only be air blocks. Any other blocks, bet it torches or carpets, will block the bookshelves off.

    2. Since the 1.8 update enchanting requires experience levels and lapis. To unlock the highest enchantments you need at least 30 lvls. If you want to enchant something you need to pay 1 to 3 lapis and lvls, depending on how powerful the enchantment is. That's no bug, it's intended.

posted a message on Need help naming a special sword.

Regarding this are some nice changes and additions in the upcoming 1.9 update.

    1. naming an item won't affect its life span anymore

    2. the addition of the "Mending" enchantment, which has the potential to keep your weapon/armor/tool alive for about forever

I suck at naming stuff, so I'll spare you from telling what I'd come up with ^^

posted a message on How to summon Enderdragon (15w44a)?

Every game follows some kind of logic.

If they don't it would be just some random mess which isn't very enjoyable.

In the End are no undead mobs.

The Nether on the other hand has lots of undeads but no mobs found in the End.

It's just weird suddenly having an undead mob drop something that's usually only found in the End.

posted a message on How to summon Enderdragon (15w44a)?

It's weird for skeleton horses to drop this, since there's no visible connection between the undead and the End.

Even if it's a game it should follow some kind of pattern or logic.

But you need to create a shape with obsidian blocks to form a portal, and for that you need a diamond pick. Only if you found a weird lava pool shaped as a portal, standing, would be possible to make it at the early game.

No, you don't need a diamond pick.
I usually just make a mold with dirt, put lava in via bucket and turn it to obsidian with water.
Rinse and repeat until you've got your portal.
Some people also do you opposite and just place the lava inside a pool of water, where it instantly turns to obsidian and create the portal frame this way.

Impatience isn't the issue in this case.
The OP is complaining about the bug tracker moderators closing and deleting his bug reports.
It seems like they don't see the problem here.
They'll start looking more closely when more people start complaining about this issue.

Survival is usually the main theme with Minecraft and with that, survival players are going to fuss about creative mode features. I don't blame 'em.

    [...]

But survival isn't the only game mode, so I DO blame them for being selfish.
It would be unfair if only one of the kids gets all the candy.
I'm a survival player myself, but I can't understand at all why some people complain about this.

    Well, I'll stop ranting now.
Thanks for your efforts making this summary.

How can people ever get mad about command blocks?

They can only be used at all if you are an admin. You don't have to use them to even play well, and they don't impact big servers because plugins are superior.

So how can their existence make people mad? Because people can now program guns in vanilla creative? Why does that annoy people?

My guess is that people don't like Mojang developing non-survival features instead of using that time for even more features they like.
    People are selfish idiots.

    Another take on dual wielding:

Just let the game check if the weapon in your main hand is still recharging it's swing timer.

If the main hand weapon isn't recharging then it uses your main hand weapon upon left click, if it is recharging then just use the off hand weapon.

Or rather just use the weapon that would apply the most damage at that moment (calculated using the weapon's swing timers).

Although the downside of this is, that you can't excatly choose which weapon to use.

posted a message on Shield walls!

All those combat changes remind me of this series of historical novels I read.

For example axes being used to hook onto an opponent's shield and drag it down to make way for attacking the wielder directly.

Is it possible to push someone away, when he's blocking the attack?

If yes, then it'd be nice when two player blocking side by side were to be glued together, so the formation can't be pushed apart.

Although such formations won't be as useful, since throwing in a splash potion will have the same effect as a modern grenade.

    Quote from Nikipata»

What if you attack and quickly switch your hotbar and back? I haven't tried that yet but if you quickly change to another slot then back to the axe the speed might reset. I wonder if that will work. I think mojang will change it so fighting with axe uses only one durability. AXE ALL THE WAY

I haven't tried it myself, but I remember someone saying the cooldown won't reset from this.

I wonder if it's the same when you're using two weapons.

For example two axes, so you can swing another axe while the other one is still on cooldown.

Or maybe an axe + sword, so you can switch between those to avoid cooldowns.

posted a message on Sword vs Axe

Whether I use an axe as regular weapon or not depends on its damage value.

If it enables me to one-hit zombies when enchanted with sharpness I might consider it.

Currently it takes two swings of an enchanted diamond sword to get rid off an unarmored zombie.

Although its durability consumption worries me - my OCD would constantly be nagging me.

I hope they have a look at this, too, and change it accordingly.

posted a message on 1.9 Snapshots - Let's talk about performances

I can imagine the Mojangsters inserting code for testing purposes only, which causes the game to run poorly.

When the testing is done and they're releasing the official update they'll remove it again.

They've been working on this game for several years now so I assume they've learned some techniques for preventing and hunting bugs.

In short: The FPS will be better and Minecraft will run more stable as soon as the official update is released.
