Dony arrived soon after, and was immedietly baffled at the sight of one of (He assumed) the commanding officers casually eating a chicken wrap. Dony had assumed first impressions meant a lot based on his experience, and he had certainly prepared accordingly, but he was confused that the presumed commanding officer hadn't eaten beforehand. Perhaps this was to be a more casual experience? No, the sensitive nature of the munitions and the presence of armed and trained soldiers proved otherwise. Perhaps it's the standard personality deviation- some were bound to be more spontaneous and carefree than others.
The engineer cleared his head as he approached the man with the chicken wrap- the one he assumed to be in command. He extended his hand and spoke, "Dony Pere, reporting."
Nihere immedietly snapped his head up a little, nearly hitting Ruth. "Oh, im sorry, its just-" He paused for a moment. He didn't know how to describe this feeling. "It... i feel like... Almost as if i'm trying to remember a dream? Does that make sense? And then that question just came to me randomly, I don't know what it means."
Nihere looked around and saw Astra talking with Emme. He nodded. "Good, at least they can work together now, nice to know i got through to Emme. Anyway, we should get going. We've wasted enough time already." Nihere didn't give any more thought to his strange feelings, and went back to the task at hand. He still felt the guilt about Dein. He wanted to fix this as fast as he could.
Appearance: Standing at 5'6", Dony has lightly tanned skin and a few scars from various minor accidents. None of them are serious. He has dark hair that goes to his shoulders and dark green eyes. Nothing about him really stands out, though, aside from his scars.
Backstory: Dony really is a nobody. He wasn't very popular, nor exceptionally smart. He always seemed to keep to himself. He got the job done, and then went about his own business. He has few friends, and none of them really know him very well. Dony is an extraordinarily private man, but always polite and respectful. He doesn't share his past, and doesnt like it when others try and share theirs with him.
Nihere was standing at the lift for a short while, waiting for Ruth and Astra. He and Emme didn't say much after their conversation. As far as he could tell, the terms they were on was currently "mutual dislike", and he hoped to change that in the future. Thankfully, it seems that Ruth and Astra seemed to trust him a little, at least.
He then saw a pair approaching the lift- Astra and Ruth. Nihere smiled and walked forward a bit. "Hey guys! Ready to go?" He tried to seem as cheery as possible, to try and mask his residual anger from the argument. He closed the distance about halfway, and waited for them to approach from there. If he had one thing to be happy about, its that, at least, Emme would be more respectful to Astra.
Then Nihere felt something. A strange feeling in the back of his head. Almost like a thud, like something was trying to break in- or out- into his mind. His smile disappeared for a few moments as he pondered this feeling. It was like trying to remember a dream.... sort of. He put his hand to his head, almost as if he was hurting. He couldn't place this feeling, but a sentence popped into his head- and not in his voice. He repeated it aloud, not aware he was doing so.
Im interested. My only suggestion would be a "secret" for each role, like how you described the technician knows what the cargo is. (However, I would assume that the soldiers have the same secret, and the engineers as well.)
Nihere listened as Ruth said that Emme would likely meet them at the lift. "Probably, but i'll check the barracks just in case." Nihere wanted to be sure that there wasn't any miscommunication. Emme had arrived late and left early, she may not have heard that they were supposed to meet up at the lift. His suspicions were confirmed when he saw a large suit of armor pacing the front gates of the barracks- most likely Emme.
The new shield mostly confirmed it- it was completely new, no dirt or damage of any kind. The smith was truly skilled to repair something to such a condition. Nihere put aside his admiration for the moment. As he approached Emme, he tried to calm himself- anger met with anger usually resulted in violence.
"Excuse me, Emme, right?" He said in as calm a voice as possible. He was still clearly bothered, but he didn't want to pick a fight. "We need to head to the Lift. The others will meet us there. And also, i'd like to talk. About Astra." Nihere began walking slowly in the direction of the Lift, waiting for Emme to catch up before he continued the conversation.
Nihere had turned his mind back to Emme, but Ruth appeared, asking about Astra. "She's fine." He responded. "Emme pushed her off the bridge, and Astra went to get something from a magic shop after I helped her dry off by a fire. She said she'll meet us at the lift after she gets whatever she went for. In the meantime, I need to talk to Emme- is she still here?"
The archer immedietly started looking around the outside of the barracks, still in earshot of Ruth. He had calmed down after sitting by the fire with Astra, but he still needed to get the idea of basic respect for other humans into Emme's head. Though much less intense, anger was still easily seen in Nihere.
"Yeah. You go ahead to the lift Emme. We'll meet you there." Nihere went off in the direction that Emme came from, not bothering to see if Ruth followed. He was concerned about how Emme had worded and emphasized what she said, 'Taking a swim'. Nihere walked his way to the bridge, wondering what she could have meant.
He found out soon, as he noticed a mostly drenched Astra climbing out from underneath the bridge, a mixture of sadness and anger shown on her face. Nihere almost ran to close the gap and offered her a hand. "What happened?" He said, figuring it out in that moment. 'Taking a swim', in such an apathetic tone, and with Astra in her condition, it was clear that Emme had pushed or thrown Astra off of the bridge.
"I can't think of anything else we may need. Except maybe some more potions, for myself. Lets hope Emme and Astra get back soon." Nihere's impatience was showing. It was clear now to Ruth that he wanted to start right away- not out of anxiety, however. He had a drive to do this. Nihere tried to hide it earlier, but he isn't used to trying to hide how he feels.
Nihere sees Emme approaching- but without Astra. That worried Nihere. As she approached, Nihere kept looking behind her, that maybe he just didn't see Astra at first. His worry intensified as he discovered that it was only Emme. He waited a few moments longer, and Emme was withing talking distance, his concern obvious. "Where's Astra? We sent her to get you." Nihere hoped that maybe the two just passed each other and didn't realize it.
Nihere reached his hand out a moment as if to stop Astra, but then let it fall when she said she wasn't very good at strategy. "Alright." He said, a little exasperated. Ruth then reminded Nihere about where to meet up, and suggested the lift. He nodded in response. "Hopefully Blag will be there to iron out the specifics of the rations we're going to get." Nihere watched as Astra went out the door.
Ruth went on to start talking about strategy. She suggested a fairly standard grouping strategy- Close-ranged attackers in front, range and supports in the back. "Yes, that sounds like a good strategy. I heard Astra say something about being a support, I think. And I attack with my bow. That puts the two of us in the back. Emme said she used a shield, and with all that armor it wouldn't surprise me that she is more akin to a warrior. But what about you?" Nihere knew this subject would need to be gone over again once they grouped up, but he wanted to have a good idea before they did.
Nihere was ready to go then and there, but he held back to hear the names of his teammates- Emme, Astra, and Ruth. Emme had left to pick up her shield. This bothered Nihere a little, but he let it go for now. Astra seemed to be a very hyper and upbeat person, which would certainly help keep spirits high in the group. Ruth seemed very pragmatic. She talked about making preparations, and asked about food and water before the journey started.
Kahente- the new branded- had decided to stay behind. Nihere understood. Judging by her appearance, this setting was not at all similar to the her previous one. The transition would be difficult for her, so it makes sense that she took her time before jumping into danger. Clarence then went on to answer Ruth's question- Yes, water and Gram would be provided. Nihere wasn't exactly happy with that prospect, but food was food.
Clarence then complained about Blag, the Goblin again before saying that Emme likely went to Iron-Eyes. He then concluded the meeting and dismissed them. Nihere nodded and went out, following the guard. "Hey, Astra, and... Ruth, was it? Can you two start making preparations and talk strategy? I'll go and get Emme, once she has her shield. Is that ok?" Nihere isn't usually the one to make plans like that, but he was strongly motivated to solve the Branded problem as soon as possible. "Oh and, where should we meet up?"
The two of them woke before dawn. They went to the southern end of the town, avoiding as many people as possible. Ki'than and Sontar stood at the furthest edge of the village, waiting for their companions to show before they departed. "Dawn is at most an hour away." Sontar said. "We shouldn't have to wait too long."

Cough cough, cough cough cough. Blood spilled onto his hand. He sighed and wiped his hands on a nearby towel, before taking a drink of water. The door opened, and a familiar face appeared. "Sis!" He said, arms outstretched. She approached him in his bed, hugging him. She was easily twice his height. He felt her long, flowing hair and started to braid it.
"Heh, not now, Korag." She said, taking his hand off of her head. "Have you been eating and drinking everything I brought you?"
"Almost. There's too much water, I think." He replied, a little quieter than before.
She stared at him a moment. "You need to drink it all. It's for your own good."
"I know! But..." He was clearly embarrassed. "I just don't think I can hold it all in me. Feels like i'm gonna explode, sometimes."
She held his head in her arms. "I promise, that will never happen."
He hugged her again. "So how did it go?"
"L'pei did what he promised. But it's not enough yet. I have to do a few more things for him, and then everything will be normal again."
Korag smiled brightly, before coughing into his hands again. More blood came up.
She quickly grabbed his arm and looked at it. "When did this start?" She said, sounding panicked.
"Just this morning, why?" He was clearly scared.
She placed her hands on his chest. A small spark flashed, and she smiled. "Just... I didn't expect this to happen. You'll be fine. Everything will be fine, I promise."
"Don't worry, sis. I'm strong, and I promise i'll keep going, as long as it takes for you to grow strong enough." He held his hand in front of him, in a fist.
She laughed, holding his fist. "I know you'll hold on. I promise to be as fast as I can."
"Can you sing to me again?" He looked up at her. "You have a great voice, even if I don't understand the words."
She laughed again and nodded. It was almost a whisper as she sang.
"Solti, ola ii,
"Amaliche cantia masa estia...

"Ah, Lii, Tii, A-Dista,
"Somelite esta di-ya,
"Ah, Dii, Tou, I-Della,
"Filoche mi-yo......
"San, Ti, Tou, La..."
She breathed as she finished her lullaby. Korag was asleep again, for now. She kissed him on the head, before leaving. She turned back to him before exiting. "I promise..."
