posted a message on Villagers spawning or multiplying?
So, I found a village and set up one of the houses as my home. It had two villagers in it when I started. They became my roommates and I never let them leave. Even now that I've built a massive wall around the city, I don't let them out. ...Don't judge me, I just want my friends to be safe. I'm very attached to them.

The door has never been left open.

There is a mineshaft/cave under the house, but it's blocked off so that they can't get into it, so it's not like another one came through a cave or anything. There is no connection between my house and the outside world that isn't blocked by a door.

There are now 3 villagers in my house and I don't know why. I've never heard of them being able to spawn or multiply before. Have I found something new or what?

Who is this new weird guy in my house?

    Note: I'm in 1.9 prerelease 3 still.

I've always dreamed of having my own little farm in Minecraft. I'm glad it's finally gonna be possible. :smile.gif:

I love both of them. The Endermen mess with my head stealing the middle of trees and the vines look pretty on my walls.

I don't understand. What's the matter with lava? Don't dig straight up or down and always have some cobblestone on your action bar for when you accidentally open up a lava pool from the side. Cover it up with something or bring a bucket of water to make it obsidian.

Personally, I like lava because it provides free lighting.

posted a message on Does anybody focus on building in survival mode?
When I first started playing Minecraft I didn't want to do survival mode at all because I wanted to build and not have monsters ruin everything I had worked hard for. I couldn't see why that element of risk was fun. But the person who introduced me to Minecraft insisted that we start out on survival and at least try to figure everything out for ourselves before we looked up guides.

I have absolutely no regrets about doing this.

Minecraft is fun because you aren't just handed everything you want or need. You have to explore and look and prevent/fight/avoid monsters. You're proud of that little house because you earned it and you have to protect it from creeper blasts. It's exciting!

I only just now tried creative mode and it was kind of... boring. I had everything that I needed and didn't need to actually do any work to get it. I guess it's because I'm not very creative (most of my structures are very utilitarian) but... I dunno.

Different tastes, I guess, but as someone who started out not liking the idea of protecting my structures and resources from monsters and now loves it I suggest at least trying it that way first.
