That's true of all mill items. There's a predetermined order to grinding that is independent of the order you place them in the inventory.
It's not ideal, I agree, but that's the way it's always worked, and really makes very little difference in practice.
Before you did a refactor of mill code to allow for extension by add-on authors and to make it more in line with how other blocks processed their inventory millstones processed their inventory from top to bottom. I remember because I would often situate things in the millstone so I would be away when the screaming started.
There already is a way to toggle this. Simply switch them out for another pair of boots.
Exactly. Why do people have to try to change the game so that there's no strategy thought or choice involved in playing is beyond me. Boots of travelling make me awesome fast and I don't have to jump like a bunny. Also they'll kill you in the nether! Tradeoffs? That's a good thing! Try different boots. Or just build up the walls more if you travel that nether fort a lot.
Research is actually easy once you understand how it works. If anything I think it might be too easy. Oftentimes I am able to finish a research using only one aspect and can save my more expensive aspects for later. Also the deconstruction table will provide you with a ridiculous number of primary aspects so there's really no worry at all about running out. (Honestly I think the deconstruction table needs a nerf). I think it's important to realize that just because you haven't figured it out yet doesn't mean it's too hard.
What I'm currently having trouble with is my gather golem won't put items in the chest. He just sits there and holds them. I tried using the golem bell and there's a wobbely glowey line connecting him to the chest but he still sits there stupidly and does nothing.
I think people need to stop complaining about hypothetically running out of research points and just play the game. When and if it actually becomes a problem for you then you should come and complain.
The thaumonimomiconum claims that I can disperse the remaining essentia in my cauldron by right clicking with my wand but nothing seems to happen when I do that and purple gunk keeps overflowing from my cauldron. Currently my only solution seems to be to break and replace it. Any idea what's wrong?
Can someone please explain to me why this isn't working? I've wasted a ton of knowledge resources moving runes around trying different combos but nothing works. They're all close enough.

No matter what I do I can't seem to get the witchery guards to stop attacking the villagers.
