Yes, yes mobs are a problem to the villagers but there is another thing that is a problem to them and its called fire.
I think of a fireman, he/she would run all over the village with a bucket of water and get rid of all the fire burning its village.
Of course they would have their own house with somekind of a chest that mostly contains a bucket.
the problem with your idea is that it would become a greifing tool, some random A##hole comes in and lits a building on fire, then the derpy fireman village pours water on the fire and floods the village, unless of course the villager removed the water source block once the fire is out.
mmmm like others hava said this would take a ton of coding,
villagers gathering food? I like the idea it is simple and fits the game
Villagers expanding? that would be very derpy, they would have to code them to build specific types of buildings otherwise how are they supposed to build if they aren't players?
roads to another village? I think that is very hard because of chunk generation being random, for example I made a survival world way back in minecraft 1.4.2 i think, and never went east of my spawn, and a few days ago I went east and found a savanna biome, now that savanna biome wouldn't be there if I had gone exploring prior to the 1.7 update
and last of all I don't like the adventuring villager.
yes I know I may have sounded a little bit rude, but that was not my intention, you put a lot of effort into this, so don't get discouraged i'll give you 1/2 support
Like the idea that way you could create some sort of custom "cinematics" like you said have the ender dragon fly a little bit then vanish before destroying anything
How about after 1 bucket from a cow you cant get another bucket from that cow until it eats a block of grass, just like the sheep with their wool. No weird indicator that the cow has no milk, if you milked a cow the indication that it didn't have any milk would be no milk coming out of the udder.
I would support that.
I agree with him/her, I don't like the head hanging down or the udders dripping milk that is just weird in my opinion.
I have been making an adventure map and I want to simulate a "medieval war" however even though I can equip zombies with armor and weapons, there is no "good" mob that will fight against them yeah sure Iron golems will fight them, but that looks jinda lame.
So if this was added I could have my "war" hahahha perhaps this villager soldiers could be like the skeleton horse which cannot normally spawn.
This is nice however it would make overworld wolves useless (yes I know they already are) no body will now tame and overworld wolf, also I really hope this hellhound is inmune to lava.
and one last suggestion (you can ignore it if you want to) perhaps you could change the name to netherhound as it is more original and maybe just maybe the texture would be a little different but that is just my opinion

that is not possible or is it? OMG you are making my doubt my own knowledge
on topic, spawn eggs in survival are just useless, finding passive mobs isn't really that hard
