posted a message on Good laptop?
    Short answer: No

Longer answer: No because shaders are very resource-demanding, you'll need something with a dedicated GPU, and a fairly good one at that. The integrated GPU on it, (Radeon HD 8400m) is pretty weak.

Using the tripwire to trigger the slime blocks was a good idea to save on having to wire from the button to the slime blocks with a delay like I did. Overall it has a good spin on an already done favorite.

Minecraft is really just a Java game, I doubt there's gonna be a difference. And if there is the community would have already been complaining about it. I haven't heard anything about issues from it so I'm sure it'll be fine

The point for a cape is to be special. For things like, "Hey, I went to Minecon '12!" or "I helped translate", not "I paid $5."

Looks great and is one of the few ideas I've seen with a recipe that makes sense and is natural. Mojang has been adding a ton of aesthetical items so this fits in great. Support!

posted a message on Minecraft Launcher Redesign [version 1.2]
My only problem is, the layout and the flat translucent style doesn't mesh well with the font. If we changed it to something like Helvetica or Roboto, then it'd look great. What if there's a bunch of nice animations (you hover over a button, a little animation. You press a button to go into a new menu or add an option, an animation.) Maybe change the icons in the server list from Holo-looking to more Material Design-ish.

    ^Basically, follow Material Design

Did some research, it's a Cooler Master TPC 812. Still looks backwards though. I hope it's pulling instead of pushing.. :P

Close. It's a 612. I realized it was backwards. Gonna fix that soon

Edit: Just fixed it. Temps are down by a couple of degrees (I think 10, but I doubt that's right)

Give us the specs, then we'll actually be able to do anything. And try Optifine.

Why a low-end board with an otherwise high-end system? (At least Asrock isn't using PowerPAKs anymore.)

Either way, good build. Any pictures?

I needed a blue/black board to match my color scheme, and I really didn't need a $200 mobo when they work the same anyways. The Extreme3 actually has pretty good stuff for the price (12K caps, 8 power phases). I just don't like the UEFI, the UI seems a bit dated.

I can never take a build pic, this is the best I've gotten.

    My custom build:

    CPU: i5-4690k @ 4.5ghz

    GPU: Sapphire R9 280X Vapor-X @ 1.1 ghz

    RAM: 8GB Kingston HyperX DDR3-1600

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master TPC 612

    HDD: 1TB Western Digital Blue

SSD: 120GB Kingston HyperX 3k SSD

    PSU: Corsair CX600M

    Case: NZXT H440

    Mobo: ASRock Z97 Extreme3

Runs Minecraft @ 1080p, saw 467 FPS all settings on maximum, VBOs off. I'm thinking about getting a Corsair SP120 and AeroCool DS 140 fan to help cooling along and make it a bit quieter.

I actually really like it. Not too flashy, small amounts of shading, and a new character model to boot! I really think the muted colors blend in with a lot of the blocks more

now why would they do this :/

I guess they've been on the hunt for removing old code/useless stuff. They rewrote tons of the game now and in 1.7, they removed the fire block in the inventory, chain armor now doesn't have an impossible recipe, sponge now has a purpose (albeit nerfed massively), etc.

Open Broadcaster Software (OBS). Works with Intel Quick Sync to offload the video transcoding onto the iGPU that would be unused otherwise if you have dedicated graphics. The downside to Quick Sync is that while quick, it's not the best quality, but still good. Setting up Quick Sync is a just changing one setting in the UEFI/BIOS and a setting or two in OBS and Windows.

Video about using OBS with Intel Quick Sync, and tutorial to install at about 2:00

posted a message on Please read THIS before making a suggestion.
Here's some more stuff, they're kinda similar to a few things already in the guide/

    "Know what we won't support."

Like what Yoshi9048 posted a couple comments above, these have been posted time after time and haven't been supported. Why? Because they have severe logic problems with them, putting realism over gameplay. If we liked the idea, we would've supported one of the 1,000s of other threads about this.

"Wait for more details when Mojang 'announces' a feature."

If one of the Mojangsters posts a Tweet or something hinting that a feature will be added, don't immediately go suggesting they roll back all of the changes, especially if they note that it's not finished. If they didn't even put it in a snapshot, then you have next to no idea about how it will work, so don't complain about how "Totally OP guys, nerf it!" it is.

    "Don't suggest Family-Unfriendly or copyrighted/trademarked things!"

Minecraft is a pretty family-friendly game. Things die and disappear, the game focuses on creativity. So having a Drug Dealer Mob is really not in the right place, besides just stupid. Games like GTA get rated M for a reason, I doubt a good parent would be happy to see that a game rated E suddenly get bumped to M, especially in an update you need to have to play in 95% of servers. Going in the other direction, though, is just as bad, if not worse. Making it so instead of Creepers blowing up they give you presents to "protect the children" ruins the gameplay. Both of these instances alienate one part of the playerbase to mildly appeal to a demographic that was just fine before. For copyrighted/trademarked things, these are bad because Mojang will get into legal trouble if they add a Mickey Mouse Mob. Either that or they end up licensing the character, leading to a situation similar to Star Fox Adventures: A game that was fine on its own gets injected with characters from a popular franchise, not making it better and making fans go on about how "It's not a real <franchise> game!"

Now that I feel that I made a contribution, several topics under "Presentations You Need to Avoid" have a missing name for the Thank You, _____. These are both mine, and I'd appreciate it if you'd put that. I don't, however, know the contributors for the others without a name.

Realize the cost of your suggestion.

Order of the Stone just sounds too RPG-like for my tastes, is longer, and I just bet people would be going "Order of the Stone? That's soooo ripping off Order of the Stick!" even though it was just a playful reference.
