Just because Java is open source does not mean that a program written in Java is. You can find plenty of open source compilers for C++ or just about any other programming language - but that does not mean that C++ programs are open source.
See the definition of open source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open-source_software
This is also why MCP comes with the following terms and conditions:
You are NOT allowed to:
- Release the decompiled source code of Minecraft in any way.
* Do not use this to release complete packages of minecraft jar, class or java files. They are copyrighted material by Notch and mods should only contain small changes to some classes, never complete sets that can be used by people who did not buy the game to play it.
(just because Notch sold Minecraft does not mean that this no longer applies; it is still Mojang's property) -

Hidiety posted a message on What are some of the worst villager trades you have ever seen?Posted in: DiscussionQuote from josh_98765»
I agree with you. Some trades are expensive and annoying while some are basically set up to give you free emeralds. I think that it is great that a farmer will give you an emerald for 20 carrots, but isn't it weird they are trading for stuff that is in the village they live in itself??? I don't know, it just seems weird to me.
IRL we pay for most things that are already in our own towns and cities simply because of lack of time or know how to make them. We are paying for a skill. This is also true for villages. -

Headcutter123 posted a message on My Theory On The Minecraft WorldsPosted in: Survival ModeI like to think of it as:
--------------------------------------[Overworld]--------------------------------------
--------------------------------------[Nether]-------------------------------------------
As for the End, I think of it as a completely different dimension completely separated from this Minecraft Universe.
To make it clearer, when you warp through the Nether Portal, you warp locations. Going really deep down.
But when you warp through the End Portal, you warp through spacetime/universes and end up (pun intended) in the END.

xxFREAKOUTxx posted a message on Creepers are FEARED by certain mobsI was just playing on my vanilla world on the latest snapshot when i was fighting a creeper and skeleton at the same time. When the creeper started to hiss the skeleton freaked out and ran, which i thought was weird. i went to a test world, a super flat world where i test and build things before i do it survival. I tested to see if what i saw was true and a skeleton RUNS from a hissing creeper. i tried some other mobs and it seems witches, zombies, zombie pigman and even other creepers runs as well. any other mobs i couldn't get to work and i couldn't get the zombie or witch to run every time. I looked on the Wiki and couldn't find anything about Mobs Running from Creepers.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
P.S. didn't see any posts about this any where on the Snapshots forum -

mantissa128 posted a message on 1.4.2 The Pretty Crappy UpdateGeez. Imagine how the Mojang peeps must feel when they bust their butts to bring you this stuff and vocal players go "this sucks!" Have you played or followed any of the prereleases? There has been a ton of work!Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
Item frames are awesome: wall clock, wall map, trophy room, label your storage with an actual item. No love for flowerpots? My house seems more filled-in, more comfortable-looking now. Anvils! Finally you can repair enchanted armour and tools, and name them to boot. Bats are cool in caves - easy to mistake movement for a hostile mob, keeps you on your toes and adds atmosphere. There is so much more! Last but not least: tons of bugfixes.
Why do players have to be so complainy and sense-of-entitlementy? If there is content you feel is lacking, for heaven's sake, create a mod. -

Downgrade to any of the betas or alphas. Trust me it will make the game a lot harder than the easy version it is now. No food stacking, no sprinting away from mobs. Ah it was such fun.
Lol, because the game was so much harder when hunger didn't exist, I could restore my health instantly with any food item, and none of the mobs knew how to pathfind their way out of a paper bag. Players might have less options in the old versions, and that might make some situations more difficult, but I think there's some trade-offs here that people often forget to mention.
The only reason food stacks now is because it takes longer to eat than it used to and it doesn't directly restore HP anymore. Doesn't matter that you have a huge stack of food if you can't force it down your throat for instant heals like you used to.
To OP I'd say try playing on hardcore and being mostly nomadic. You can build shelter if you need it but your main goal is to keep moving and explore as far as possible from spawn. Your priorities change when you have different goals, and it can feel like a different game. There's tons of mods that make this cooler too, like various biome and mob additions. Smart moving is also awesome for climbing and sprinting maneuvers. -

That sounds a bit like a mob farm, only applied to the surface.
Instead of flowing water which can get a bit annoying to the ears, you can flank the trap with snow golems which will push the incoming mobs into the trap with their snowballs.

I went to my mine every day uphill and in the snow. Both ways!

Oh, Herobrine exists. He is the player that was in that world before you. He built, he explored, he dominated until he became too powerful for anything. Then he became bored. Disinterested in the world until you arrived. Now he watches from a distance, wondering if you will find his creations that he buried most carefully. Curious if you, too, may become too powerful for the world. And decide if he may just have to stop you.

On the upside, you can mine your front lawn to discourage those damn kids from getting on your lawn.

It is their time to waste. Anything done since the game hit official release has been just extra content, which I definitely appreciate. (I like igloos
)
Maybe try worrying less about what they do and more about what you do in your game, unless your chief form of entertainment is camping the forum waiting for the next news update on development. (Doesn't sound so fun to me)

Never bother quoting Kotaku or other Gawker sites. All of what they post is opinionated bull and unsubstantiated. Stay away from those sites, seriously.
It's not so much the thought of Microsoft making the offer, as Mojang actually considering it. I am going to wait for official word from them before deciding whether they have lost all their minds.

That has caused more headdesk moments for me than I can count. I would get into a heated battle with mobs, usually zombies, and a friggin ninja creeper would come up behind me and blow everything to smithereens. I take a little solace that at least one mob got caught in the blast, as well, but usually by the time I am getting caught in such a battle, I am so deep in some cavern that it would take a lucky twist for me to find my inventory again. Twice I did manage it, only to find a zombie had scooped up my enchanted diamond sword. Having that used against me doesn't upset me so much as the thought of the chance of the zombie despawning before the loose items would, taking my sword with it. Friggin looting zombies...friggin ninja creepers....friggin caves. Frig.

However, I do see prime opportunity here for a cryogenic mod, to preserve mobs for display or later use, such as creepers, chickens, and such. As for the stock game, the thought of suffocating creepers in ice does give me pleasure to no end.
