    Roofed forest biomes, IMO, are ugly and kind of suck. Lots of the other biomes, such as tundra, have this charecteristic.

    Don't feed the troll. If they can't be bothered to support their opinion, don't respond to them.

    I like the roofed forest biome a lot myself. It is an excellent wood resource, with some added atmosphere and added chance for daytime mobs. It can be a little laggy with the added effort put to the lighting, but that's barely even a nagging annoyance. I have noticed that with decent sized roofed forests, especially with large biomes turned on, you can still get sporadic clearings, which makes it even better if you don't want to have to clearcut to get a decent building constructed. Not to mention the potential for treehouses and mushroom houses.
    Considering how roofed forests make me think of the Black Forest of Europe, I wouldn't mind if there was an increased chance for witches to spawn there.

    While Soul Sand is a temporary fix, I am really agreeing that boats need to get stronger. It is frankly beyond ridiculous that a lily pad has the chance to break a boat, and strongly discourages exploring swampland by boat or at all. I do like MartintheMess's idea where types of wood can play a factor in how strong the boat is. The only woods that would lend to the current fragility of the boat don't even grow in biomes with large water presence, acacia and spruce(a softwood).
    Better to petition for stronger boats, but be civil and intelligent about it.

    Might also just fill the floor the sheep are in in water. That will keep the Endermen out. Halfslabs on the ceilings will also help.

    It is always possible to overlook ores and such during the first pass of a cave or mineshaft, if you are distracted by other things in the vicinity, such as skeletons sniping you from the dark, zombie pygmies, and creepers which can all manage to scare the living ­ out of you. To this day it does not matter that I hear pygmies ahead of time, those little ­s will still make me jump.
    Don't let such matters trouble you too much, as it never hurts to make a second pass of places you have been to before.

    Mushroom biomes can occur on continents, but that is quite, quite rare. Ocean voyages are usually the best to go, especially if you are looking for a drastic change in biome altogether, as well.
    Otherwise there really is no distance rule, as there are seeds that can spawn you right in them and not make you walk 2km to find one. It just takes some persistence and luck. You will likely find some other amazing stuff, as well, in your journey to find one.

    Just lower the ceiling one block. Endermen are three blocks high, and therefore will not teleport into a space only two blocks high. Will allow you and the sheep to do what you will in peace.

    It seems silly to contain yourself to one spot, when there are strongholds out there to find, and new biomes just over the horizon. I tend to branch out, especially to find deserts to go glass crazy as well as find mineshafts and temples to find loot in. Especially if you find either a village or mountain biome first, you are going to want to find the other to trade for new things. I used to build roads of cobblestone to link each location I build and mine at, but now I use the nicer new stones. A road of polished granite is very nice to see stretching off to the sunset.

    There is also the baked clay which you can dye with one lapis for just about the same appearance as an entire block of lapis, to help you spread out the cost of lapis.

    Can't confirm that, yet, but I would recommend avoiding forests while you see if they do appear, as the inevitable forest fire will likely crash your system.

    There is pretty much two reasons why it is so difficult to find the biomes like Ice Spikes: the new coding to favor biomes close in temperature to each other(which I was never that much for), and the fact most biomes are warm biomes. Unless your seed starts you in a colder biome, you have to depend on either an extreme hills biome or ocean to shake things up.
    Frankly this petty need to have similar biomes next to each other needs to be removed. Mojang keeps telling us to explore our worlds, but what good is it when the next thing over the horizon will just be one more warm biome?
