Dec 17, 2011Samsonguy920 posted a message on Minecraft News - Video Game Awards, Mob Eggs & MoreTo those complaining about a hundred modders doing more than a couple people in Mojang: Shut the hell up and get over yourself. Be happy you can actually do mods in Minecraft, as it is getting damn near impossible to do it with any other game of today.Posted in: News

Dec 16, 2011Samsonguy920 posted a message on Minecraft News - Video Game Awards, Mob Eggs & MoreI love where the first news is Carl's adventures with phones and toilets. Nice to keep it real. There is some exciting stuff coming up with the update. I am holding back from touching the snapshots as this time I want to enjoy the update in all its glory. Putting in an actual animation of the sheep eating the grass is frikkin awersome! (Mob eggs are cool, too)Posted in: News

Dec 3, 2011Samsonguy920 posted a message on Notch Steps Down, Jeb Takes Lead Developer Position for MinecraftYou people act like Notch is quitting Mojang. Heck, no. Minecraft is in a position now where it can stand on its own, so Notch can work on other projects within Mojang(And still be the big boss with the best hat). He isn't about to completely give up chipping in on MC, either.Posted in: News
Jens has been a strong contributor to the game. I know since I have followed Notch's and his ramblings since I started playing. It will be good to have a good system put down that will help good people contribute good mods to the game, instead of half-ass or malware crap that some have felt the burning desire to do. I am quite content with what I have to tinker with in the game right now, so focusing on the Mod API is a good thing right now. Then we can have so much more to tinker with when we have a stable system of finding safe mods to play with. Player contribution to making Minecraft even better is half of what Minecraft is about, and modding is a good way to show that. -

Apples can randomly drop from trees
Apples will only drop from default trees (no pine or birch). You will get apple in 1/200 chance.
-Very nice, one more reason to punch trees. Though something for a quick bite to eat at the start of a world is nice. I seem to always get surrounded by sheep most of the time....
Farmland trampling mechanics have been altered
Farmland no longer tramples by walking on it, only jumping will affect it. Animals can no longer trample your crops.
-Hopefully Villagers are included in that. Those guys wouldn't know a farm from Central Park.
"Void fog" gone at bedrock level in Creative mode
-Excellent. I like Void Fog in Survival as it adds a lot of atmosphere, but keeping it in Creative felt non-constructive. However, to those who like to create bedrock creations in survival, there is still the option of skylights. Vertical 1x1 tunnels of glass from the surface to the ceiling of your bottom cave. It kills the void fog as long as you are within about 10 meters of the sunlight/moonlight. So if you can regularly space them, you should have good visibility down there. Careful digging the holes, though. Maybe making them 2x1 would be good. -
Nov 24, 2011Samsonguy920 posted a message on Weekly Pre-Releases ScheduledTo those complaining about Mojang should do their own bugtesting: Considering they are not a large company, I would think they wouldn't have the resources to find every bug. Your statement here seems to allege that bugs are easy to find for a dozen guys who aren't already busy with other things. You could not be more wrong. Mojang is asking its community to help out to find the bugs so the game can be all the more fun for all of us. If you can't be bothered to help out, don't. Plenty of the rest of us are more than willing to do our part to help out in a game we enjoy.Posted in: News

Nov 11, 2011Samsonguy920 posted a message on 1.9 Pre-Release 6 Is Out!Ditto on this. The dragon egg alone seems to speak to the contrary of a "Code Freeze" being in effect. Really makes me wonder if we are going to get a solid build come Release since apparently other stuff has been getting implemented causing new bugs to appear.Posted in: News

Oct 19, 2011Samsonguy920 posted a message on Minecraft Code Freeze In EffectLet's spell it out. Code Freeze there will be nothing new added to the code of the game until main release come Nov 18th. From here until the 18th, Mojang will only be working on bug fixes and streamlining so that the main Release will be a smooth release. As Notch said in his blog, after the game is released, they will be taking a short break to recuperate, and give a little more emphasis on Scrolls and other projects. But then Mojang will roll up their sleeves and put some more love into our favorite game with updates and patches.Posted in: News
Quote from TheAvatarOfWar
First I asked, "how can there be a code freeze when we don't have 1.9?" Then I saw a thread saying 1.9 was released, so I removed my comment. Now I'm removing my removal because some moron just bumped the one month old and obsolete thread of the first pre-release.
So.... wheres 1.9? We had 4 pre-releases, that implies there should be an official "beta version" like how he did 1.8? But I see... nothing. The handling of these beta versions is utterly insane.
Notch put in his blog after the first prerelease of 1.9 that they would just do prereleases for more advanced users, and just wait until the 18th to do the final release. I imagine this was done with consideration of the time they had given themselves in order to get the last updates done and then can use the remaining time for debugging. I have no problem with this, as it just means I have less than a month to wait for the final product I paid for. Until then I can enjoy what Mojang has graciously allowed us to play for over a year now. -

I would just hide your current Minecraft(change the .minecraft folder name or just store your saves and delete it), then download the prerelease and run that as your current game. Make sure you do backup your saves before trying them in the prerelease as they will probably get bugs and hiccups from the incomplete coding. - To post a comment, please login.

As in still have the big gaping hole? No. That is replaced by a shallow pond in the swamp.

lava at blacksmith: cobblestone generator!
saplings: lots a wood!
slimes: insanity! (No kidding, they will drive you insane.)
It would seem beds do set a spawn point so you can stay at the same spot if you die after having slept in a bed.
So this challenge: possible!

Unless it is a non-slime chunk. It's all a roll of the dice. However, finding a village where slimes can spawn doesn't happen every day!

No mods. I play only vanilla, myself. I do try out the occasional texture pack now and then, though.

With 1.1, there are further tweaks done to frequency of biomes, so it is going to affect seeds again, unfortunately.
Edit: I just tried the seed, myself, on creative. Using Eyes of Ender, I found the nearest stronghold was much further away and further underground. It was larger but the libraries were being torched by the lava springs. Playing this seed legitimately, you wouldn't find much left over except for a complete endportal chamber. (One of the library chests had a compass. First time finding something that wasn't a book or paper.)

I am jealous at your accidental discovery. These days I barely get a chance at trying to craft something new before someone's already spoiled how to do it.
You are being rude and ignorant by criticizing this person for his own ignorance. A person shouldn't have to go on the internet to find out everything about Minecraft. When was the last time you tried to craft a new item without going on the wiki or the forums?

Since slimes can spawn in any degree of light and darkness, it may be possible they are spawning in any neighboring lavapool caverns and getting fizzled. So it might be your slimes are having really crappy luck.
