    Okay, I'll make this brief:

    My fic's first act is done. Finally. Been damn long enough.

    That's all this is, right? Opinions? Aaron has done nothing but state his opinion and explain why he thinks the way he does, I'm not entirely sure why you're going around and telling him he's wrong.

    Good question! But a bit off-topic so Imma spoiler.

    When you state an opinion you are opening it to discussion. A person may ask why you have this opinion. In some cases, person 2 may feel you have a valid point even when they disagree. In others, the person may still think your opinion is somewhat unfounded, and see if they can find any deeper reasons. (Or just want to argue.)

    In this case I challenged it because Dihn was making the entire thing look like an absolute disaster and putting someone off without them trying it. Opinions are fine, but I felt it had to be defended from an exaggerated claim.

    BUT! PICS!

    None of them fit though. They were there for the sake of being present and because they would be funny. The EQD and WeLoveFine references also felt like weird product placement. It's like Hot Topic or Pepsi appearing in Star Wars. It's not even of that universe!

    Eh, sure. If you want to focus on billboards and faded graffiti instead of the foreground, sure you can make that argument. But why?

    That was a brief several-second long clip. And other characters have "broken" the fourth wall from time-to-time in their own way. Either in the outro to an episode. But it's never been something as major as the whole alternate-universe bending physics as Pinkie in Double Rainboom which was a whole plot point. She was the entire reason the episode came out a relatively happy ending.

    Sure, that's a valid opinion, though a matter of taste I see where you are coming from. Although that whole discussion was slightly off-topic.

    Where in stuff like Fallout Equestria the elements of the Fallout Universe's style merging with the world of ponies has a seemless explination behind it. And somehow Kkat managed to make it work by some voodoo magic. And future writers working on the very concept (Somber, Mimezinga) have managed to stay the course and even flesh out how it could be without background lore.

    They also had a humongous story, not a 25 minute student project.

    Where-as with crossing into the Powerpuff Girl Universe it just goes into it. It had minimal basis, and the whole sequence in the PPG universe felt sloppily handled. The entire episode could have been done without having to go into cross-over mode.

    Again, doing something for funsies is not bad. Sure the episode could have gone a different route easily, but why? I understand if you just flat out don't like it. In that case this isn't for you. You don't like it, sure. I'd be hard pressed to defend you calling it "sloppy." But sure.

    Remind me, how did this support your case for it being "Saturated with references" that break the storyflow? So far you've come up with three solid examples.

    We can do better.

    Repped for this line.

    I'll edit this post/post my thoughts on another post after I'm done watching it. Okay, so I just finished watching. Here are my thoughts on it.
    I still need to get used to all of the mane six's voices x.x

    Okay, I'm confused. Why is there a big deal over a japanese dub?

    Aperture Science (plus a number of other Portal references earlier) and EQD in Townsville, The face on the moon before the double-rainboom was initiated, the pin-ball sequence during Dash's super-speed sequence was everything related to weirdly included, Optimus Prime, WeLoveFine ad, etc, etc. Even Snowflake/Horsepower's sudden cameo was really abrupt and off-putting. It forced us to stop and go: "LOOK AT THIS, IT'S A GAG THAT WAS ONLY DONE ONCE IN THE SHOW, R WE FUNNY?"

    And then it all ends up leading up Pinkie literally breaking the Forth Wall in the most in-your-face way possible.

    Non obtrusive references are not the hand of the devil. (Hi, background ponies! Lets look for Derpy for funsies!) And only that one of those are mildly distracting. Actually... that pinball thing isn't even a reference. It's something that would easily fit in the show. So there are a few bilboards here and there. Meanwhile, you have the actual foreground events and humor.

    And I think you are blowing up Pinkie's role. It's a joke about how Pinkie ALREADY breaks the fourth wall in ways ten thousand times more "in your face" than breaking a multiverse. I have yet to see anyone complain about "Over a Barrel" where Pinkie LITERALLY gets in your face and objects to a joke.

    It was a forced cross-over. A cross-over for the sake of a cross-over without much thought put into how the two could be made compatible and the way it was done was jarring. Like every one of RWJ's "Yo momma" jokes, it was done just because someone thought it could be done.

    "Jarring?" It's unexpected, but it's not completely removing you. And all crossovers could be defined as "for the sake of it." And to develop it would be pointless. Rainbow would be the girls' pet and we would have a PPG show with a fourth wheel. Fun. This is a random stupid crossover for the sake of a random stupid crossover, and that's fine for some cheap comedy . That's like asking your cute puppy to write an essay on geothermal reactions and their effect on the immediate enviroment. It's a cute puppy, and a cute puppy is its own reward.

    I don't know what you are talking about saying "it's jarring." It's the PPG acting as they would with a talking flying horse. And it's how RD with three maniacs chasing her. If you don't like it... fine? I guess your opinion can be your opinion. But "jarring"? Elaborate.

    1. The Scoots joke. I kinda chuckled for the sheer "Lets make every single Scootaloo joke at the same time!" (Orphan, can't fly, chicken.) There's a point where it becomes stupid enough to be funny for me.

    2 and 3.
    Quote from SSky »

    These two were annoying, and the trollface made me groan, but I forgave it for... everything else. The physical humor, the simplistic yet funny story.

    4. Yes. What's wrong with that? Saying there's something wrong with that is like saying that...
    Well...
    MLP sucks because it's a girly pony show. No, it isn't like that. It's exactly like that. The other things put behind the idea are what make it, questionable basis or not! Book-by-its-cover type thing,

    5. That's RD looking at what just happened through her eyes. They beat up the monster when it had surrendered (They may not have known or assumed it was a trick) and it was an awful thing to RD.
    Also, I never watched much of PPG, but what I have seen is rather violent still.

    Now, if you didn't like the simple idea or the physical comedy that's another story and it may be harder to forgive the faults, but you can't make it seem like the entire work is a mess of references and stupidity. You gave TWO (Or three if you didn't really enjoy the scoots joke) actual examples of what you were calling it out on. That is NOT "saturated."

    Double Rainboom's thing as that they saturated the entire project with out-of-place gags and references that skewed the pacing, or were just awkwardly fit. I swear they were aiming at comedy-via-memeology.

    I wouldn't be surprised if [le] Reddit was in there.

    There were TWO blatant things that threw me out. I have NO idea what you are talking about. References annoy me too but if they aren't straight up blatant I couldn't give a damn. There are hidden gags such as a little picture, and there's what you are making it out to be. Almost all the humor is original and funny, and the annoying references could only be as plentiful and annoying as you make them out to be if you were actively looking and fuming over them. I can only think of two instances of gags that went on too long, and they still were somewhat chuckle-worthy!

    Quote from PicklePackle

    I notice how a lot of things seem to star Rainbow Dash...

    Dash is a fan favorite because of her tomboyish personality that is "oh so original." (And I LIKE RD) So because of her popularity, it makes sense that people would make things about their favorite characters over others.

    There were no parts taken from the show. All of it was original animation, reviewed and critiqued by a large crew of people. There were absolutely zero assets taken from the show besides some visual references.

    After rewatching that scene (19:20) about five times comparing the original, I realized: no, it just look 99.9999% like the clip just sped up a little. I was able to put my mind at ease because the tail flapped slightly higher. Sorry about that. 6_9 genine case of not noticing the absolutely inane difference.

    Hi! I've been busy moderating another forum, so I'll just post my (mostly positive!) thoughts on "double rainboom."

    Story: Well paced, better than any FiM episode, and from such a simple and interesting idea! I was having fun! It was slow, but not TOO slow for my tastes.
    Characters: Twi was oh so slightly OOC, but only enough to bother a meanie stickler like myself. Everyone else was great and true to character. And they get details really down.
    Humor: Aaaand, it was HILARIOUS. The physical humor, specifically. The verbal jokes were great too, but the physical humor was getting me to laugh... when it wasn't ripping jokes straight from FiM. References are rarely funny to me, and straight up COPYING is inexcuseable.
    Moral: Oooh, this was doing so well, too. Then the moral came. It wasn't "pay attention to your friends," it was "stealing is bad." ... I'll have to tackle morals some day, suffice to say this is a lazy moral.
    Visuals: Okay, forget the "too much movement" animation issues and obvios problems when presented with something new. THEY FRICKING STOLE FOOTAGE STRAIGHT FROM THE SHOW. I'm NOT fine with being shown a LAZY sonic rainboom clip WHEN YOU ALREADY SHOWED YOU CAN MAKE ONE. And the WORST part is that they did it AFTER the art style change SO YOU CAN TELL. That completely knocked me out of it, because THAT is just LAZY.
    Otherwise, eh.
    Other: They got okay voices. Twilight's was a bit off.
    Final thoughts: Outside that ONE thing that annoys me to no end, this is an extremely solid episode! Great simple story (not complex, no need to be), great humor! And that's what I came in expecting. I'll take that!
    Score: 7.5/10 (Great!)

    Just make sure you know what the show itself says. Make sure you know everything in there and then try your hand. Just write, and don't worry if it's bad. Just take criticism in stride if it is and learn from it. The only way to actally learn how to write is to write, and in fanfiction you have a interested audience of readers and critics.

    [background=transparent]Okay, I'll explain. A tiny while back, I read a battle between the mane six... It had Fluttershy randomly become mean and snap Rarity's neck... Yeah. There were some pretty egregious errors. So I wrote this up because I’m a bit of a fan of “who would win in a fight” stuff.[/background]

    [background=transparent]It's somewhere around 5500 words (1000 don't really matter,) so grab some popcorn. I'm doing a[/background][background=transparent] MANE SIX BATTLE ROYALE... BECAUSE NO ONE CARES AND I'M BORED.[/background]

    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Yeah, it'd just get confusing otherwise. For those of you who don’t know. I’m her “intelligence” and SSky is... well my fangirl side.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Nobody cares. They’re here for the rules, so let's keep it simple:[/background]

    [background=transparent]Jair[/background][background=transparent]: The playing field is a [/background][background=transparent]flat[/background][background=transparent], [/background][background=transparent]open[/background][background=transparent] area with a few [/background][background=transparent]clouds[/background][background=transparent].[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Each competitor can bring [/background][background=transparent]anything[/background][background=transparent] they use frequently or have instant access to at all times.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] To be able to win, you have to be able to survive [/background][background=transparent]all[/background][background=transparent] injuries you have sustained.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] No matter how outlandish, [/background][background=transparent]the show is authority[/background][background=transparent]. If the show shows something, it's good. If it contradicts itself, the weaker option will be taken. If there is a very reasonable and universally agreed-on explanation for something, that will be used. But grounds for death will still be semi-reasonable.[/background]

    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] We will analyze the fun stuff—their abilities—taking any useable skill they have. We will just be tallying them, not necessarily using every single one.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Even if said skill isn't battle-ready, it can be MADE to be a weapon.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] We will then analyze each character's[/background][background=transparent] Strength, Speed, Stamina, Smarts, Survival, and Stability.[/background][background=transparent] The 6 S'es. … oh jeez.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] What?[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] There are twenty-six letters in the alphabet. USE THEM.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky: [/background][background=transparent]Am I no longer allowed to have a favorite letter?[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Sunny, this used to be cute. Now it’s an obsession.[/background]

    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Whatever, enough with the chitchat. Let's analyze our contenders![/background]
    [background=transparent][/background]

    [background=transparent]TWILIGHT[/background][background=transparent]:[/background]
    [background=transparent]
    [/background]

    [background=transparent]Species: Unicorn[/background]
    [background=transparent]Height: 4'0”[/background]
    [background=transparent]Age: Who the heck knows.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Occupation: Magic student to the sun goddess.[/background]

    [background=transparent]SSky[/background][background=transparent]: Taught by Princess Celestia herself, Twilight is no slouch when it comes to studying.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Taking her meds on the other hand...[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Quiet. This is a pony thread so there is really no need to go over her backstory, but her physical traits are quite astounding.[/background]

    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Twilight is very skilled in[/background][background=transparent] Telekinesis[/background][background=transparent]: the calling card of unicorns. She's been able to grab an entire DAM as it fell apart and piece it back together. Damn, talk about the boy and the ****.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Twilight also has a long-ranged and mostly inaccurate spell I call the[/background][background=transparent] Magic Missile:[/background][background=transparent] a flying club of unconsciousness. Want to know how powerful it is? I ran the numbers.
    ...[The projectile] took .25 seconds to cross a 9 foot space. This would translate to 36 feet per second OR 24.5 miles per hour... a heavyweight boxer punches at about 19.9 MPH. A non-compound bow seems to have a speed of around 195-200 FPS mostly by a forum poll I saw. That's 136.3 MPH. Yeah, the magic missile is pretty slow. But remember that we are throwing a club. A club going 4.5 MPH faster than the average one of OUR heavyweight boxers.
    [/background]

    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Geek.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] That's a powerful punch, but in the show it does nothing but knock out a changeling. It's not immediately deadly, but unconsciousness isn't shabby.[/background]

    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Twilight has the ability to[/background][background=transparent] Copy[/background][background=transparent] any and all magic she has even just seen ONCE. But.. there's a snag. She already knows all the magic her unicorn friend Rarity uses. Pfft forget that.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Sadly, Twilight has no physical shield spell because lazy writing made that only performable by her brother and later his wife... for some reason.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jay!Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Wait... you can get powers through SEX?[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] N- no...[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jay!Jair:[/background][background=transparent] You just said it already! Hah! I'm gonna go bang a magician after this. Yeah baby. Make my manhood disappear into you.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Err... anyway, she DOES have a spell that can[/background][background=transparent] Annul Magic.[/background][background=transparent] Any magic-based attacks are useless against her if she can pop this. It's a magic shield, but not a regular shield.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jay!Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Hey! If I bang you, do I get pretentiousness powers?[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] SHUT UP. (And ewww, we're the same person.) I wish I could just[/background][background=transparent] Teleport[/background][background=transparent] away from you like Twilight can![/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] ... Smooth. Sparkle has two flight spells:[/background][background=transparent] Reverse Gravity[/background][background=transparent] and[/background][background=transparent] Gossamer Wings[/background][background=transparent] The first one sends her and anyone touching her... well... into the air with gravity reversed. She can turn on a dime, too.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] The latter gives her frail gossamer wings.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Wait, this last episode shows her with normal pegas-[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] PUT THAT DOWN. SHE ONLY HAS THE GOSSAMER THING. *Ahem.* The issue is that it takes FOREVER to cast and Twilight is rendered helpless. Not to mention those things are frail as a fandom's nerves.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Self-burn, nice. She can also[/background][background=transparent] Conjure[/background][background=transparent] stuff like doors, or[/background][background=transparent] Transmute[/background][background=transparent] anything into anything else. The problem with that last one? It takes a while to charge and can easily misfire.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Good thing, too, because that thing is theoretically DEADLY. I don't think liquid can croak, unless you're using “croak” metaphorically.[/background]

    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] She can also[/background][background=transparent] Animate Objects[/background][background=transparent]. Erm... I'm not really sure what extent this goes to. I guess it behaves like it would if it were alive/motorized or something, it isn't Discord's spell. But you know what? All this PALES in comparison to the[/background][background=transparent] Want-It-Need-It spell[/background][background=transparent].[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Whatever she casts it on will become irresistible. Everypony's attention will go to it, and never leave.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] That certainly won’t come in handy.[/background]

    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Let's get to her stats. In[/background][background=transparent] Strength[/background][background=transparent] Twilight has the ability to carry a boulder three times her size, and unicorns are the WEAKEST race, and she's a poster child FOR out-of-shape.[/background][background=transparent] YEAH.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair: Speed[/background][background=transparent]-wise, she's apparently a MADMARE when it comes to sprinting, going from third-to-last to close enough for an honorable mention when she was WAY behind.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] But her[/background][background=transparent] Stamina[/background][background=transparent]... is pretty damn good considering she brought hat boulder from Canterlot to Ponyville.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] But remember, Twilight is out-of-shape by any logical... logic. All HER physical stats apply HEAVIER to her friends. Except... Twilight is[/background][background=transparent] SMART[/background][background=transparent] as hell. She misses the obvious, but she knows her friends and anything a book can teach you inside and out. The thing is... books CAN teach you about battle.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] And—being a pony in a cartoon world—she can[/background][background=transparent] Survive[/background][background=transparent] A LOT. What does it take to seriously injure her? Falling down a long flight of stairs. Something that would... kill us. But... she survives many MANY heavy things crashing onto her directly afterwards. This is inconsistent, so we have to defer to the weaker of the two.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] But is she[/background][background=transparent] Stable[/background][background=transparent]?[/background]
    [background=transparent][beat][/background]
    [background=transparent]Both:[/background][background=transparent] HA HA HA HA HA HA HA no.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] HELL no, her OCD will drive her absolutely MAD VERY quickly. Something ain't right? SuckeREEEEW logic![/background]

    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Let's talk her personality. Twilight is NOT a friends person, and it really doesn't take a whole lot for that to show. In “Return of Harmony” Twilight is the only pony to be brought to her knees HERSELF, and gets violent even BEFORE that.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] And if Psycho Twi comes out, she could easily get pushed over the edge if it festers long enough.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] What do you think her chances are?[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] I wouldn't bet against her.[/background]

    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] But above all, Rainbow Dash can cause a[/background][background=transparent] Sonic Rainboom[/background][background=transparent] by flying at one-hundred miles an hour.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] … You're kidding me.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Nope. In my research I discarded the “Sonic” fact and just made her go as fast as possible. But since I said a pony's height is 4 feet in Twilight’s useless information, RD's speed is 100 MPH.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] … Okay then. Dash's Rainboom can cause rocks to split, spirits to elevate and... yeah, that’s about it.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Well, don’t say that yet. If she is going at fast enough speeds and HITS something, she can create a [/background][background=transparent]Rainnuke[/background][background=transparent]. Guess what it does. Come on, guess. It makes things “Go away.”[/background]

    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Stat time. Rainbow is VERY[/background][background=transparent] Strong[/background][background=transparent], even beating out APPLEJACK in a hoof-wrestling competition... with FRONT legs.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jay!Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Clop clop clop.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] My best explanation—that... doesn't involve[/background][background=transparent] that—[/background][background=transparent]is she uses her front hooves in flying to push things away, and so she NEEDS to have strong front legs.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Suuuuuure. in any case, her[/background][background=transparent] Speed[/background][background=transparent] is unparalleled. Although she's slightly slower than Applejack on hoof, in the air she leaves everypony else in the dust.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Oh yeah, did we mention she has[/background][background=transparent] Stamina[/background][background=transparent] to back that speed up? She does. She can outdo EARTH ponies, but not trained athletes like AJ... We seem to be comparing RD to AJ a lot...[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] And... well... she's actually fairly[/background][background=transparent] Smart[/background][background=transparent]. A quick thinker, and actually has a bit of strategy in a lot of what she does. She suffers from some idiot ball like Twilight, but it's not in any area battle would constitute.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] However—again like Twilight—she HAS been seen injured. But it took an almost full-speed smash into the GROUND to FRACTURE A BONE. Her[/background][background=transparent] Survivability[/background][background=transparent] rating is OFF THE CHARTS for humans... however it does call into question the effectivity of that rainnuke.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Finally, she is comparatively[/background][background=transparent] Stable[/background][background=transparent]. She freaks out in absolute pressure, but that isn't too much of a problem. So, Sky, what flaws DOES this gal have?[/background]

    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Battle-wise? Fairly few. She does go for more flashy, but if she thinks it won't get her far, she'll switch tactics. I guess the biggest thing is that her only killer move is repeated blows, no one-shots unless it's that small-radius nuke, and THAT would hurt her a LOT if it could kill another. You wouldn't bet against Twilight, but I'd bet on this mare right here.[/background]

    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Her[/background][background=transparent] Telekinesis[/background][background=transparent] is above-average, sure. Not to mention her[/background][background=transparent] Illusionist[/background][background=transparent] powers she used at the fashion show, but what's she going to do?[/background]
    [background=transparent][[/background][background=transparent]Pause[/background][background=transparent]][/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Light-balllb.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] What?[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Jair... the rules say that ponies can bring any weapons they like as long as it's something they use often, like Applejack's rope.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Yeah.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Rarity has no delusions that she won't need an edge, as evidenced in “A Dog and Pony Show.”[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] So? It's not like she can weaponize something like nee- oooooooh.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] You seem to have hit the mark. What Rarity lacks in abilities she makes up for in weaponry. Needles aren't deadly. You know what is? A[/background][background=transparent] Needle[/background][background=transparent] which can masterfully weave through your body, targeting vital organs. You know what else is deadly? An entire[/background][background=transparent] Needle SET[/background][background=transparent] doing that. Truth be told, I was about to absolutely discredit her from being a threat until I remembered we could bring stuff they commonly use in.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Hold up, to get needles through a pony would take a lot of force. And needles are tiny.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Or (pardon the pun) pinpoint precision, going through the routes easiest to cut through. It would still take some time, but she's a seamstress and knows how to thread a needle. And you can go through multiple times, attacking vital parts more than once.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] This takes “Needling” your opponent to a whole new level. If she can get just a few hits in, she can stun and kill an opponent in a matter of... still quite a bit of time unless it’s a LOT of needles or a very well-placed strike. Of course.... you actually have to hit and keep a telekinetic hold so the opponent would probably have to stay relatively still.[/background]

    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] But could she survive? Her[/background][background=transparent] Strength[/background][background=transparent] matches Twilight's. We don't know her[/background][background=transparent] Speed[/background][background=transparent] and[/background][background=transparent] Stamina[/background][background=transparent], but could guess it to be roughly Twilight's own.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair: Smarts?[/background][background=transparent] She ain't stupid, and is very crafty. But this is “Death Battle” not “Whine Battle.” But if “A Dog and Pony Show” taught us one thing, its that she knows when she can't fight and has to use other tactics. She also comes crazy-prepared to anything, hence picking up the improvisational weapon.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky: Survivability?[/background][background=transparent] See: Twilight for our best guess. Yeesh, she isn't very active, is she? She's[/background][background=transparent] Stable[/background][background=transparent] and would only fake freaking out in our personality screw-up. But her prissiness is... an issue and might make her get a little distracted if blood got on her.[/background]

    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] You know, those needles change the game, and make her actually look viable... pfft if she can keep the target still, so she probably won't last against anyone except Fluttershy. But two other characters have items to bring to the party, or rodeo as the case may be.[/background]

    [background=transparent]PINKIE[/background]
    [background=transparent]

    Species: Earth Pony[/background]

    [background=transparent]Everything else: 42[/background]

    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] How the heck do you analyze her?[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] By being REALLY lenient.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Whatever. Her most notable battle trait is her[/background][background=transparent] Pinkie Sense[/background][background=transparent]. It predicts anything and everything. Gee, slightly OP. The only way to combat it is to to make no way out or surprise her immediately after a twitch.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] That isn't easy, because Pinkie can bend the laws of[/background][background=transparent] TIME AND SPACE[/background][background=transparent]. She can find her way out of any situation with a laugh. Basically, anything[/background][background=transparent] funny[/background][background=transparent] can and will happen around her. Can you make a joke? It'll happen. If not, it won't happen. It's bound to comedy.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Remember how I said Rarity wasn't the only pony with a weapon? Pinkie has her[/background][background=transparent] Party Cannon[/background][background=transparent]. And it actually does hurt. Its normal ammo is short-ranged, but it's a cannon and can be equipped with other stuff.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Have you noticed that Twilight and Rainbow Dash blow everypony else away in the abilities department? Everyone else has two or three.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] I know, right?[/background]

    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] But stats are what really matter. Pinkie, being an Earth Pony, has amazing[/background][background=transparent] Strength[/background][background=transparent], but doesn't really put it to use. She's strong, but not excessively so.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] She's[/background][background=transparent] Fast[/background][background=transparent], but only in comedic situations.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Her[/background][background=transparent] Stamina[/background][background=transparent] is the only thing I can point to with certainty: She can go nigh FOREVER. She can outlast everypony else by a long shot.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] She's...[/background][background=transparent] Smart[/background][background=transparent] only in very very narrow comedic situations. Else... nah.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Again, she'll[/background][background=transparent] Survive[/background][background=transparent] anything with a joke in it.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] Her[/background][background=transparent] Stability[/background][background=transparent]... well, there's a small issue with that for sure. See all that comedy stuff? What happens when Pinkie goes[/background][background=transparent] Completely Insane?[/background][background=transparent] Her Earth Pony shows, and she loses her comedy powers. However, SHE GOES COMPLETELY FREAKING INSANE.[/background]

    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] You know, Pinkie would be great if she weren't confined to comedy, but she is. I'm not too optimistic, but it really comes down to seeing it all pieced together.[/background]

Being a[/background][background=transparent] Beastmistress[/background][background=transparent] doesn't help if your subjects are bunnies. [background=transparent]Jay!Jair:[/background][background=transparent] You should know.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Some intelligence you are. Anyways, I cannot tell exactly how strong this buck is, because the internet doesn't have the figures for what it takes to MOVE A FREAKING APPLE TREE WITH A KICK.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] If AJ's buck can significantly bend a tree TRUNK, one hit of that's gonna leave you with a severe case of the [/background][background=transparent]dead[/background][background=transparent], or at least HEAVY injuries.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] But that's not all. She also has her[/background][background=transparent] Rope.[/background][background=transparent] She can incapacitate ponies like nothing with it. Of course... unicorns can steal it.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] You know, I don't think AJ NEEDS abilities. That kick is probably the second most DEADLY single attack we've covered, only behind Twilight's one-hit-kill “Transmute” spell.[/background]

    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] As you would imagine, her[/background][background=transparent] Strength[/background][background=transparent] is off the charts. And heck, if her strength is a FRACTION of her brothers', that's strong as hell considering he can MOVE FREAKING HOUSES. WHILE JUMPING.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] She's the fastest of the bunch on hoof, able to use her[/background][background=transparent] Speed[/background][background=transparent] to overtake any opponent.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Backed up with[/background][background=transparent] Stamina[/background][background=transparent]. Remember that buck? Over three days of sleep deprivation, and she STILL can do it. She may miss, but that extreme isn't of importance in a deathmatch.[/background]
    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] AJ is the brunt of a lot of “Stupid” jokes, but she knows the importance of a leader and teamwork. That alone can put her in the good battle[/background][background=transparent] Smarts[/background][background=transparent] category if there's a target of interest.[/background]
    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] And oh boy, can she[/background][background=transparent] Survive[/background][background=transparent] stuff. [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] To top it off, she's[/background][background=transparent] Stable[/background][background=transparent]. Heh, a horse is stable.[/background]

    [background=transparent]SSky:[/background][background=transparent] Applejack has one big weakness though: she isn't as varied as Twilight or Rainbow Dash. One kick pony's only got one song. And her rope is a... meh weapon. But her stats are PHENOMENAL, so she isn't awful.[/background]

    [background=transparent]Jair:[/background][background=transparent] After examining this thoroughly, I've created a simulated battle using the skills and knowledge the ponies each have. I didn't take these abilities separately, but I had each one in mind as I tried to plot out this course. Not all of them will be used, but keep them in mind and try to figure out what each character would do. This battle will be won or lost on strategy[/background]

    [background=transparent]It's up to SSky to write this (Celestia help us.) Let's see how it plays out.[/background]

    [background=transparent]
    [/background]

    [background=transparent]Poorly-written pre-story:[/background]
    [background=transparent]
    [/background]

    [background=transparent]Discord flicked a bunny-frog hybrid off The Statue of Liberty. “Oh, Jar-Jar. Why did you have to break my heart?” [/background]

    [background=transparent]It had been absolutely boring being nice, but he knew that the elements would just seal him off. Friendship was great and all... for the first few weeks. But then ponies kept showing him that they liked disharmony. He had his own place in life, but was being forced to work for good.[/background]

    [background=transparent]He kicked down a spike of the statue, which grew into a bridge to the mainland. The draconequus mournfully strode down the thin green path on a unicycle. Even randomness was just boring with no one to laugh at.[/background]

    [background=transparent]He took a look at a shop window. Ugh, it was selling those magic boxes. They were so predictable: ponies like seeing other ponies' misfortune in prerecorded parts with actors. It wasn't real.[/background]

    [background=transparent]He suddenly heard the station change, and this made him pause. It was a group of people in a building swinging swords and talking about some famous fighters. This gave Discord pause to watch it play out, learning that they were testing two warriors to determine who would win in a battle-to-the-death.[/background]

    [background=transparent]Granted, their methodology was WAY off. They actually valued a weapon you could easily get away from over a weapon that would cut you up very quickly? Pfft. But Discord was interested, as it was promoting trash talk between the two teams and gave a fighting spirit. He watched to the end, and his pick didn't win.[/background]

    [background=transparent]Outraged, he smashed the window and turned the boxes back to something much more chaotic, like the news. But there, he only saw Crystal Pony Games coverage, all thanks to those six little fillies.[/background]

    [background=transparent]And then, he got an idea. An awful idea. Discord got a wonderful AWFUL idea. He wasn't one for killing... but what if somepony could to it for him? He clapped his hands and teleported to the Pony Games, where he spotted the six sitting in VIP seats.[/background]

    [background=transparent]Discord wasted no time and snatched them off. They didn't know what had happened, but they were back in Ponyville, surrounding Discord. Rainbow seethed. “What's the big idea?”[/background]

    [background=transparent]Discord didn't feel like wasting time, as he was probably going to have to deal with the royal guards soon. He pulled magic boxes out of the ground like turnips and showed one to each of the ponies. Their eyes began to spin under the control of the garbage tube. Their coats became grey.[/background]

    [background=transparent]“Aright, little ponies, I want to know which of you is the best fighter. As such, we will be holding a contest on the unicorn fields to see who can come out alive. You got that?”[/background]

    [background=transparent]Every single one of them struggled, and Discord saw color begin to return. The draconequus' head stretched up. “Nope.” He tapped each of them, turning them even darker grey. And finally, they nodded their heads.[/background]

    [background=transparent]He turned around and around to each of the six. “Do any of you want anything?”[/background]

    [background=transparent]“Ah'll take mah rope.” Applejack almost chanted.[/background]

    [background=transparent]“I'll take my PARTY CANNON!” Pinkie said in a monotonous tone, yet you could still feel her excitement.[/background]

    [background=transparent]Rarity looked around and leaned in close to Discord, whispering in his ear “May I have a pack of needles? I am a seamstress after all.” Discord shrugged and gave each what they wanted. He blinked them away again to the fields, and presently was dressed in a ref's costume.[/background]

    [background=transparent]“Alright, little ponies I don't want to have to face Celestia while you're fighting, so let's get this through.”[/background]

    STOP! Reload the page if you see weird stuff in the next section. There was a copy/paste error.

    [background=transparent]THE BATTLE[/background]
    [background=transparent]
    [/background]

    [background=transparent]The six faced each other down, Discord looking at the spectacle. Applejack glanced at Rainbow Dash for a half a second, and they both fixed straight ahead. Smiling evilly, the draconequus gave the signal.[/background]

    [background=transparent]FIGHT[/background][background=transparent].[/background]

    [background=transparent]The first few moments were a blur. Rarity and Fluttershy took off in opposite directions, scampering for their lives. Twilight tried to chase them down with magic missiles, but none hit their mark. Pinkie charged Twilight, deflecting her missiles off a green blade that hummed eerily. Applejack sprinted around beside Twilight while Rainbow fetched some clouds.[/background]

    [background=transparent]Twilight, seeing the assault was coming too fast, popped a teleportation spell over to Fluttershy's path. The pegasus screeched to a halt, but the close range made it easy for a quick missile to hit Fluttershy, who was knocked out. The unicorn mage built up and quickly cast a transmutation spell on the downed pegasus.[/background]

    [background=transparent]A Fluttershy-shaped pool of blood hovered for a fraction of a second before collapsing and scattering.[/background][background=transparent] FATALITY: FLUTTERSHY. 5 LEFT.[/background]

    [background=transparent]Twilight again saw Applejack charge her, rope in mouth, but this time the mage was struck by lightning. she was shocked for the half-second Applejack needed to pivot and deliver a quick, decisive strike.[/background]

    [background=transparent]Two rivers of blood converged.[/background] [background=transparent]FATALITY: TWILIGHT SPARKLE. 4 LEFT.[/background]

    [background=transparent]Her job done, Applejack cast her rope at Rainbow, but the pegasus was too quick to catch. Laughing, she bolted up into the air and spun back around, facing down Applejack as she delivered Twilight's death blow. The second the deed was done, Applejack felt a ferocious ram send her flying.[/background]

    Pinkie grabbed her party cannon and started lugging it over to the place where Applejack and Rainbow Dash were. She noticed an opportunity when Applejack was sent flying her direction, she set up the cannon and fired, pelting the farmer with surprisingly hard confetti.

    The farm pony was reeling and very sick. Dash zoomed over and began spiraling around Applejack, the dizzying colors compounding her sickness.

    Pinkie grabbed her cannon and charged towards Rainbow. Suddenly, her eye fluttered and tail spun. At that instant she saw two bright objects flash in her vision. She whirled around to meet the face of Rarity and two more shining objects.

    And that was the last thing she saw as she felt the points enter her brain through her eye sockets. Rarity, appreciating the irony of the way the quickly dying pony had gone, took another needle and slashed over her heart. The corpse was then lifted by telekinesis and flung far away.

    Let's face it, cupcakes just don't kill like needles. FATALITY: PINKIE PIE. 3 LEFT.

    Applejack was having a hard time seeing the comedy of the situation through her blurred vision. She tried to stumble and buck Rainbow, but it was then that the tornado collapsed on her. The speed Rainbow was pulling made it a punch that knocked Applejack out cold. The flier quickly zoomed up, spiraling and looping.

    And then she fell. She kept her speed reasonable, so that she wouldn't be killed but would crush anything she touched against the ground. She saw an unconscious farmer and a prissy pony in her rapid descent.

    Wait... was Rarity flinging Pinkie's corpse? The thought came through Rainbow's head just as she touched down on Applejack, too late to register.

    [background=transparent]There were a few sickening cracks, and a taste of rainbow.[/background] FATALITY: APPLEJACK. 2 LEFT.

    Rainbow knew she had to get up and attack Rarity, but the force she had hit Applejack with was too much. She was in great pain, but tried to take to the sky. It wasn't happening, though.

    ]Rarity cooly removed the rest of her needles and positioned them around Rainbow.

    “Any last words, dear?”

    The flier gulped. “I guess when I joked that I would be pricked to death, I thought it was a saying.”

    ... Distasteful. Ah well, Rarity had heard worse. FATALITY: RAINBOW DASH.

    Discord clapped. “Well done Rarity, I didn't think you had it in you! You WIN!”

    Rarity gave a wide smile, and her coat turned pure black. Post-battle notes (AKA: Why I think both your and MY pick lost)[/background]:

    Jair: Remember that OTHER battle sim thing I and dom did? In the battle royale the three major contenders just ignored the weak race, to their demise. This is what happened here. And before I begin the summary, yes I know I probably used only a third of the abilities I listed, but they weren't needed. They were for you the viewer and me the writer to devise who would win. I never promised they all would be used.

    Rarity[/background] was slightly lucky that she was a bigger problem than Fluttershy. Twilight decided that the least threatening foe to teleport to and kill was the pegasus. This allowed Rarity to come from behind everypony else. Rarity won this battle with her Smarts. She knew she didn't have the abilities to kill, so she instead got a weapon. She knew she wasn't strong, so she stayed away from the battle, letting the others wear themselves down.

    Twilight's strategy was dead on, but she was Too Powerful and attracted attention from AJ and RD. If you have many problems, deal with them one at a time. She never had a chance, though. She played a forced loss. If she had gone after Rarity, the tide may have been turned to RD but she still would have lost with the flanking maneuver. Pinkie probably could have avoided the fate of the transmutation spell with a clever joke. If Rainbow was who she went for, the flier could dodge easily and allow AJ to get her rope on and kill Twilight. Going after Applejack would have allowed Rainbow to shock her for AJ's killing blow. Anything else would have delayed the inevitable, as her attacks were just too slow to hit either of her attackers, and she eventually would have exhausted her magic, while the other two could have kept on rolling. It was a No-win for Twilight.

    Fluttershy had No Killing Power and her stun was too slow to enact. With Twilight targeting her, it was quite the No-win scenario she had, but it was ended quickly. Well... okay. She had about as much killing power as any other pony, but it's not put to any good ability use.

    Pinkie had no battle strategy. Her thought was to rush after Dashie most likely, as she's the one most closely related to her. She played little role in this battle, as in the end she was just somepony standing in the way of Rarity. Even so, Pinkie had No Killing Power unless she loaded her cannon with something or went Pinkamena. Her comedy powers couldn't really kill anypony, so they just helped her. Her downfall was that having things stuck in your eyes... isn't funny. Shocking. I wouldn't call it no-win, because she may have had a chance if her non-existent[ Smarts would lead her to Rarity instead of the other two, but even then her chances against RD were slim to none.

    Applejack knew off the bat Twilight was dangerous, and saw that RD knew it too. Rainbow was also dangerous, but she couldn't one-shot her from a distance. They knew they had to work together to clear the way for their epic duel. But her death could be summed up in three words: “You're. Too. Slow.” Despite being the second-fastest pony of the mane six (barring Pinkie and FS' comedy powers and Twi's teleportation) that just isn't enough when you are up against somepony like RD who can deliver quick HARD blows and be out of your way. Her lack of Speed did her in.

    Rainbow's ego didn't stretch far enough to make her unwilling to have AJ help in taking out the only competitor she had wariness about. It was to her own ends, as she knew AJ was just inevitably helping her win. What she DIDN'T count on was Rarity being a threat. She thought the pony wouldn't have any killing power, and she could be brushed aside just after Applejack. Heck, the pony wouldn't get her hooves dirty kicking her. And so her Lack of Intelligence on her opponent was her downfall alongside her Flashy Attack. The needles were a surprise that she never saw coming.

    Soo... what if this battle were to begin anew with No Weapons? There was one ability for Rarity I didn't declare: her Horn. She has that thing filed often and I wouldn't be the least surprised if it was sharp enough to puncture a pony's neck. It may have slowed her down after Pinkie though because of the blood. The odds MAY have turned to Rainbow. But that crushing finisher did slow her down a LOT, because that's what it takes to kill a pony with bare hooves.

    But also, Rainbow could have been grabbed by Rarity's telekinesis and stunned. I don't know, but weapons are allowed in the source I'm ripping off from, and I really don't see why I absolutely have to count them off. Rarity was the only pony with Sense enough to get weapons when she couldn't fight solo, and in a free-for-all battle scenario, I'd rather have Sense than Brawn.

    Still the best part of the episode.

    Even with all these problems with princess Twi I have, I think it may just be worth it for this scene alone. The music, Celestia's voice, the hall of memories...

    You know what? Best MLP song, right there. I love "This Day," but for sheer ability to carry the story at a decent pace (well... it would be a decent pace if the rest of the episode flowed like it) and sound absolutely majestic, this takes the spot.

    Can anyone please explain why an overzealous and hard-out brony posted 3 pages worth of Nightmare Moon on our RP?

    Because internet jerkiness.
