posted a message on I need a desk
My father is the only person I know with proper woodworking equipment, and I'm still waiting on that rocking chair I asked him for in the sixth grade. Self-made desks aren't going to happen, sadly. Especially given the level of complexity I want.

The Fredde looks nice, but it seems my keyboard and monitor would be squished on the large level.

I got a Step By Step C# 2008 ed. book for $10 at Borders back in '09, and it serves you well until it hits databases and web integration, which I couldn't care less about.

It's not amazing, but it's cheap as hell and it isn't offensively bad.

posted a message on I need a desk
Hey, I've been using a couch and toychest as a makeshift computer desk for now and it's about time I moved up in the world. I need a desk with a huge surface area (multiple surfaces would be nice), and my staples only has a selection of rookie desks for the weak and clutterless

Any recommendations? I'd prefer a desk with one large flat surface and many raised surfaces, and both amazon and staples haven't been doing it for me.

    Thanks :)

if he hates AMD so much why is he getting such a crap AMD cpu..?
Same reason he's getting triple 660tis. I'm honestly not sure if he knows that AMD CPUs and GPUs come from the same corporation. He was considering a 9590 but he quickly realized it wasn't available in stores (not its price tag nor heat production, but its availability deterred him)

    wut...
also, i've wondered, if you could keep the mayo hot enough 24/7 would it kill off any bacteria that causes it to mold? Did your friend try that or just replace the mayo every few days..?
He replaced it every few days and got fat free mayo by mistake. I'll be sure to ask him to try it out when he s up his next build (he's going for triple 660 tis and a 4350, god help us all)

Just show them the newegg tutorial on youtube.
The PCPartPicker tutorials are both recent and nice as well, if unrealistic with the budget. They're much more concise too.

eh, just making sure that OP won't have the misfortune to use Mayo.
My friend got his 4170 to 4.6GHz on mayo for a few weeks. He doesn't make good decisions. Apparently full-fat mayo lowered temperatures by ~3C compared to fat free mayo, and system temps hovered around 65 C load.

This is the same guy with the triple 550tis and the hatred of all things AMD, by the way.

HTML5 might be more sensible than flash. It's certainly more future-proof. Many aspects of programming (especially beginner stuff) carry between languages, so learning a different language is always an option if you can't find any good sources for JavaScript.

Maybe if you're playing at midnight in the most rural neighborhood ever, but it's hardly noticeable during a regular day.
In a passively cooled case with a no-fan gpu with no appliances running with both occt and prime95 running in the background.

I can't hear it over my case fans, which are all turned to their lowest setting.

I see, so it just comes down to what you want to use and not "one is better than the other" I suppose. It seems as if you're saying that each one has it's ups and downs. And why do people always say C++ is so hard?
Java and C# are pretty restrictive and highly abstracted compared to C++, considering they don't allow raw pointers, preprocessor macros, manual memory management, etc. A lot of those bonus features you get with C++ aren't sorely missed, however, especially to beginners. C++ operates on many levels of abstraction, and even though it's a great general-purpose language for experts, it's unwieldy because of that.

Pretty much all Antec cases are a generation behind in cm - the 902v3 has three tiny little holes to route cables through, while a bunch of $70 cases have holes all the way up the sides of the mobo (400r etc).
