Nevermind... for some reason, it worked this time. Let me check my folder to see if the "mods" folder, etc is in there now...
WOW! Okay, so it worked this time!!!
    I'm so glad...
Now, I just have to download the other tekkit/technic mods. You wouldn't happen to know if any of those need to go in the minecraft.jar instead of the mods folder do you?

Perhaps I'm doing something wrong. I'm trying to download the Forge mod (using Windows 7), and as far as I know I'm doing everything I'm supposed to, but...clearly not. Okay, so I right-click minecraftforge-universal-1.4.7-6.6.1.524.zip, hover over 7-zip click on "Open Archive". Then I go to %appdata% (Roaming) double-click .minecraft, double-click bin, right-click minecraft.jar, hover over 7-zip click on "Open Archive". Then I highlight all files in Forge, and drag them into the .jar archive. Then, I delete the META-INF folder. Everythings fine.

I go back to the .minecraft file, and the only ones listed are: bin, resources, saves, stats, texturepacks, texturepacks-mp-cache, last login, and options.txt. I DO NOT have coremods, mods, lib, anything... Plus, when I run minecraft, the fml bar says everything is fine, then freezes on either a black screen or an "Updating Minecraft/ Done Loading" screen ...I've been trying to work on this for like 3 days now, starting with a fresh download of Minecraft everytime, but nothing seems to work.

I AM new to the whole modding thing, but typically I'm fairly tech-savvy. ...I just have been stumped with this over the past few days. Please help.

I know that in my house, I've put pressure pads in front of the doors so that they open when stepped on, and close when released. (This helps if I'm running from a mob, and don't have time to shut the door, or don't want to, just incase it glitches and double-clicks.) This may work for the gate problem, so that whenever the villager leaves, the gate automatically shuts
