Keep copies of your saves just to be sure if you know that the problem is likely to happen again. Like, every time you save and quit, make a fresh backup copy of the saved world to ensure that it doesn't get lost completely. Although of course, such a problem needs fixing, can't argue with that. Can't say that I've had the same issue myself though.
Looking for a good seed that would have some of the stuff included in the latest update, as I was looking to migrate my old survival game to a new map (as in rebuilding the same stuff from scratch in a TU33 map) I stumbled upon this thread on the 360 side of the forums, so I'll give the link to give due credit :
I must say using the same seed gave me all that the OP on that other thread said there would be (If said OP, though I give credit, wants this Wii U thread down anyway, I'll be much obliged, but he hasn't been active in a long time so I don't know, but still wanted to share)
Oak
Dark oak
Spruce
Birch forest
Jungle
Taiga
Mega taiga
Desert with temple
Deep ocean with monument
Mesa plateau (and desert)
Sunflower field
Plains
Extreme hills
Savanna/extreme hills
Ice plains
Frozen spruce forest
2 villages so far 1 blacksmith
A good seed I'd say, to experience all in one some of the newer stuff. Both villages are found in desert biome, so they're sandstone houses.
It generated on Wii U all the same stuff that it generated on 360 for this guy apparently. I don't know if some of the following stuff will have spawned in the same spots for everyone using the seed but here's what I found while exploring :
I'm late to the party cause the update was only made available on the version I own, which is the Wii U edition, but since I was looking for seeds that would have mesa, villages, at least one ruin and an ocean monument within a small world like they are in the 360 and Wii U edition, I looked at this and it had all that i wanted. Also found some spawners already in it so I might make it my new world.
I'd like to repost on the Wii U forums if it's ok with the OP, since I can confirm this seed gave me on the Wii U what the OP got on the 360. I also found the following the way it generated on mine :
Library (stronghold) X147 Y25 Z262
skeleton spawner X -74 Y47 Z -53 / X-224 Y20 Z161
spider spawner X181 Y58 Z-13
zombie spawner X278 Y28 Z406
village 1 X-164 Y71 Z49
village 2 X4 Y70 Z249
i just left it as is, for some odd reason grass used to like to take over all of the mycelium.
I see. That's weird, anyway in this version Mycelium doesn't take over grass. Mycelium just takes over plain dirt blocks if there are any around a block that already has mycelium on it. Otherwise it never takes over blocks of grass. Maybe I should remove the grass on my island if it requires mycelium, but it's a pain that it is impossible to know for sure which is required in THIS version. It's a shame that they feel the need to keep changing things around like this...
how i fixed my issue was i had one mooshroom so i took it back to my base and i only had one so pretty much i gave up just did what ever i wanted to in the world and then would just check on the island every so often and then i finally got another one to spawn.
By the way, do you remember if you had to put down grass on the island for them to spawn? Or did you just leave it all mycelium and one just showed up on there?
I tried what I saw on another thread, to elevate yourself with stacks of whatever you want, like dirt, into the sky very high, like up to 256 since that's the max height, to despawn all free enemies and to come back down on the island so that normally the first enemies to spawn would be those closest to the player, which would be those on the island directly below since all other terrain would be further away compared to the player's vertical position, but that didn't work either. It's really frustrating !
I know that nothing will spawn in the dark, and that nothing but mooshrooms can spawn on the mushroom biome since that's tied to the properties of the biome itself. There's no dark areas on the island, so in plain sunlight, the light level should be at max, and there shoulldn't be any need to light up the area for them to spawn, since it's perfectly lit up as it is (I tore down all giant mushrooms, I can regrow them using mushrooms and bonemeal anyway, I'll do that once I can get a second mooshroom).
Hello everyone. Been playing a survival game of this for a while. First of all my randomly generated world didn't have any village in it (just a solitary well built in the middle of nowhere with no village around it) so I decided to build my own, started curing zombie villagers and building them cooler houses than what the game would have made for them in the first place.
Looking to make a farm, with pens just large enough to acomodate many mobs but not so large so as to prevent them from despawning. I want mooshrooms in my farm, so I wanted tobring back at least two from my mushroom island biome to breed them. Problem is no more mooshrooms will spawn beyond the first one.
Now I have been going through many many threads reading up on the issue, including the minecraft wiki. So I know they normally only spawn within the mushroom biome. I also know that there's a limit to how many mobs can be inside the game world, and that if too many mobs are trapped the game will cap and refuse to spawn more but I know for a fact that this isn't the case since after running around for a while in my mushroom biome, I can see a whole bunch of pigs, normal cows and sheeps crowded on the edge of the other nearest island, so new mobs spawn randomly THERE, but NONE on the mushroom island.
I tried expanding my island, flattening it a bit, to sort of increase my chances of a mooshroom spawning, but to no avail. I even determined where the mushroom biome stops to not expand my island beyond the boundaries of the biome by adding blocks of grass all around it and keeping my eyes peeled for patches of darker grass, indicating that those were outside the mushroom biome, where grass is otherwise a very vivid/bright green colour so I can't expand my island any further. It would be no use since mooshrooms are supposed to only spawn within the biome itself (and expanding it further I knew I was too far when enemy mobs started appearing on my expanded island anyway, so that wasn't good :P).
Even weirder : When I kill the one mooshroom that spawned on the island, which I COULD bring back to my farm, that's when another one will appear on mushroom island. but JUST ONE. So there's always only ONE mooshroom at a time in my world :/...
Any suggestions? Is this a glitch, has this happened to someone else already, in the Wii U version? It happened to me in my own world, and I play on a friend's hosted world too and we have the same problem in BOTH worlds, so it can't be a coincidence.
Also, question : I can see on the wiki that prior to version 1.8, mooshroom required grass for random spawning and not mycelium? What's up with that? I tried adding patches of grass on my island, since Wii U version is supposed to be roughly equivalent to 1.6.4, even large amounts of grass, on the island, but it didn't change anything. Still no random spawn, and I continue to see mobs spawning fairly easily on the shore on the other side of the sea so I know my world doesn't have "too many trapped mobs" already.
Any intelligent suggestion would be welcome. Thanks !

To quote what there is in there :

deep ocean monument X-361 Y57 Z-377
desert temple X330 Y66 Z-124
The magic number for the seed : 1680538402529060016
Feedback will be appreciated so that others who want to try it out can know if it generated for them with the same features. Cheers!

Awesome seed for me anyway, thanks for sharing !
