Isn't that just, you know, empathy? =/ Unless you mean understanding a person's emotions with no actual indicators about how they're feeling, in which case . . . . I dunno.
Generally people read emotions by body language/expression/stance/tone/how people speak, etc, and it's effectively impossible to know how someone's feeling if they aren't displaying 'anything', since emotions HAVE TO trigger some visible effect in your body, unless you're paralyzed or something. And even if a person would try not to display any emotions, it can still be ruled as indifference . . . o-o
So yeah, my best guess is that OP just means empathy. Or people that know how to read people's body language and such. Which isn't a 6th sense superpower by any means.

Jun 4, 2012Rpsfunkey posted a message on When do you THINK 1.3 will come out? (100+ SUPPORTERS)We haven't really gotten any news on the ssp-smp merge in a while I think, so this might be an indicator that it's nearly done.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
At the very least, my answer is 'Anytime after the ssp-smp merge is done', since that's the official criteria for 1.3's release set by Mojang themselves =P
Jun 1, 2012Melons or bread.Posted in: Survival Mode
Chicken can be OK, but definitely late into the game. It takes a while to get a good one set up, especially since you basically need a wheat farm anyway right next to it.
Melons are space-convenient, but if you have a wheatfield design for a wheat farm then you can just rack up the wheat.
Of course, for the lulz i'll say cookies as well. They're actually easy to get, although they're not by any means 'effective'.

I have absolutely no clue what to feel about that O_O
To add to the enchanting thing, 30 is the new max for levels, and the bottom option will always be 30, but that appears to be intentional anyway.

If you're going to do this, every time you ask, think to yourself 'Have they finished the ssp-smp merge yet?'. If the answer is no, it will be a snapshot. If yes, it might be a snapshot, might be a full release.
May 26, 2012People have to be connected to the same router because the ssp-smp merge isn't completed yet and port-forwarding doesn't work properly. May or may not be intended. So yeah.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
And yeah, just disconnect, honestly. Surely there wouldn't be much difference. Sure it's slightly more inconvenient but it's far better than people able to pause the entire server and screw with everyone else who's currently on.
May 26, 2012I think you have a somewhat odd view on what Snaphots are. They're simply a view at where Mojang is currently in terms of coding, so people can beta-test the future update.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
They're weekly because that's a solid time-frame for Mojang to get lots of community input about things.
The updates come when major things they want done are done and when there aren't any incredibly major bugs or anything. Besides, the 'set requirement' for 1.3 isn't done yet. They want to release 1.3 when the ssp-smp merge is completed and stabilized, and god knows how long that will take.
So I guess I pick your first option ^-^
May 25, 2012Rpsfunkey posted a message on 2 things about these new "ender chests" (And a question!)For your first point: Servers should have guidelines around the Ender Chests, clearly explaining what they're used for, and people who breach the terms and conditions would be warned/banned. It's not the problem of the chest if someone steals from it. And besides, since there's only one 'network' so to say, wouldn't you try and use it for the really big things that need it the most? Like, have one in every major mob farm and one in the spawn place or wherever there's a main central area, and people can deposit a stack or so of whatever item into the chests at the mob farms, then someone at the spawn can pick them up. That is, anyone who wants it ^-^ And generally mob farms are open to the public anyway, so this method is pretty much perfect if you have trust-worthy players on your server.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
I somewhat 'agree' with your second point. But I probably won't realistically use it as a backpack until really late into the game. Mostly i'd do stuff like using it to 'transport' cobble and ores from mining to my house. Although you can definitely use it to store valuables. Well . . . I plan on, in this situation, having one in my base that I fill with my basic supplies for mining [Wood, planks, coal, food, etc] that i'd have stacks of, so that I can let my inventory get full. Then I can deposit needless stuff as well.
For the question, only single chests exist ^^ Probably for this reason, and for a general limit.
Am I the only one that thinks this works BEST for SMP? Because in SMP you can use them to shift items between players no matter where they are. If you're in single-player and mining, your chest could fill up pretty quickly with nobody at your base to clean the chest out. BLEH >->
May 25, 2012Rpsfunkey posted a message on Will We Need To Download The Server Side Client Even If There Is A Full Update? It'll probably be downloaded and shuffled to wherever it goes as the game downloads the update ._. Not that hard . . . . I really doubt they'd make you actually download it and install it.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
May 25, 2012Rpsfunkey posted a message on Can the Ender Chest be picked back up? If so...it's far overpowered.Dude. Get over it. You get what you pay for. I never use Obsidian for anything so i'd have to go out of my way to get some. Plus, what if you DIE with one? D:Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
I think that this system is incredibly . . . 'revolutionary', but one thing that should be added is an option to 'align' chests. Like, have a little option above the actual chest part where you can cycle through colours, and it will only show items in chests that also have that colour.

FOR ALL THOSE IDIOTS COMPLAINING ABOUT LAG GET A BETTER COMPUTER JAB CAN NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT!
Yes he can actually.
Most of the lag is caused by how horribly the game is coded. Which is technically a fault of the developers, although I can easily see why they never optimized it.
The game was never actually optimized at all, it was just code layered on code layered on code. There's still an issue of junk code sitting there doing nothing except using resources.
And the game works from a small part of your computer, and the client does a big amount of work. This strain makes lag, basically. I guess that's a good way to explain it. Thus one of the needs for the ssp-smp merge to let the server handle big tough calculations and stuff and let the client do the rest.
Although of course the 'quality' of your computer does play into it. I won't argue against that. But you're wrong in saying that Jeb can't at least reduce lag by a fair bit.
May 23, 2012Mods shouldn't have to be done completely again. Although some modders might wish to.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
Keep in mind that Mojang wants to keep the code of the game as similar to how it was before the ssp-smp merge, so that there isn't some complete overhaul of the code that probably would require having every mod ever re-done.
But the mod API will allow you to be able to mod the game on a way grander scale, so modders might end up re-doing their mods, if only for the ability to do them from the ground up with all the abilities they have with the mod api. But it's up to the modder, I guess.
May 22, 2012Rpsfunkey posted a message on Trading...Sounds cool, but it's totally useless with the game's scale.I believe that the merit of trading in Minecraft would more be about, as said, trading excess/infinite materials for rarer, non-renewable ones. I think that chances are, most blocks/items will be buyable via trading, but the prices will obviously vary, so it's sorta . . . yeah, a slightly odd process of using lots of lesser things to get some bigger things.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
Oh and this means that you can live exclusively above ground and still get ores and such.
Also, my god if this means that you can finally get bones/string on Peaceful . . . >_< I'VE WAITED SO LONG ;_;
May 21, 2012If I want to try and go back to sleep, I just sit in bed and force my eyes closed. No wonder nobody gets any sleep. The general response seems to be 'What do I do when I can't sleep at night? Oh, I just have a jog around the block, maybe do some exercise, clean the house, make myself some food, surf the internet, watch some movies, talk to my friends, ya know . . . ' XDPosted in: General Off Topic
Unless the question is secretly 'What do you do when you can't sleep and have no intention of going to bed?' in which case the OP sure fooled me >_>

NOOO! NOOO! NOOO!!! GOD DAMNIT MOJANG!!! YOU STOLE SINGLE PLAYER COMMANDS!!! WHY DO YOU HAVE TO STEAL MODS!!! WHHYYY!!!!
First the piston mod way back. Then potions craft, now single player commands. Has any one else noticed that the mods were better before they were put in the vanilla! For Example:
Piston Mod- Notch forgot the gravitational bit of it
Potions craft- Notch left out so many potions and stole the textures of the brewing stand and the cauldron
Single Player Commands- so many commands have been left out
STOP STEALING MODS MOJANG!!!
. . .
How many lego pieces did you step on this morning?
It's not like modders OWN what they do. It's still Mojangs game and they can decide what they do. Besides, point: EVERY SINGLE ****ING THING THEY COULD EVER POSSIBLY PUT IN THE GAME HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE VIA A MOD ._.
Thus they sorta HAVE TO rip off SOME mods to put ANYTHING in the game, so stop getting your undies in a bunch and realize that this is an entirely normal thing for them to do.
If the single play commands are like the, well, SPC mod, then friggin YAY. I always loved that mod because I have no sense of patience and committment but I gave up on installing the mod with every update.
Feb 28, 2012I seriously doubt this would kill SMP.Posted in: News
Considering that this is one of the bigger steps in getting a Mod API [Basically this is the start of working on the SMP part of this], which is about having un-obfuscated source code for people to use, I doubt they'll make it impossible to mod Bukkit or anything.
People are sounding a bit too much like drama queens here #_#
[Well about 30% of the posts i've seen]

I have played the game for a long time and it was good until 1.6.6 now its all down hill.Jeb what are you doing to the game, adding now mod and all thais **** what 1.2 comes out and the iron things are in I im nover playing it every agine.Mogang plz help the game get noch back.
Let's play a game about how many people really care if you're going to take your business elsewhere.
Hint: Not Mojang.
No company really gives two ****s about if you stop playing their game. You bought it already [Probably], and they don't really offer refunds.
Also, you're late to the party. It's been common knowledge that Jeb and Jon are planning to connect the modding community with Minecraft even more.
P.S: Pretty much every major feature added was already done in a mod. But considering how much power modders have, it's irrelevant to state this. But there are some times when they specifically use mods. Ala pistons.
Feb 14, 2012@Minimon: Erm, cats have been 'out' for like three weeks in the snapshots >_> Your friend is just saying stuff that's already been made. So yeah.Posted in: News
Also, from what I could understand that [As a person with no interest in coding 90% of that flew over my head], air blocks won't be rendered as actual blocks so chunks that have more air in them will effectively take less memory and stuffz . . . we now have room for an UNGODLY amount of blocks . . . the world height will be increased [Yay finally. It's weird that this is just stacked on top of the world though. Would have been fun having 64 more layers above and below ground], and presumably the new world format will allow modders easy ability to change biome code and all that fun stuff.
But I would guess there'd be a sort of big down-period where everything has to update.
And at least MCEdit is being given to someone else, so that person can get ready to update it for 1.2
Jan 26, 2012I honestly squeee'd at kittens >3<Posted in: News
I hope that they fix whatever bugs they have and give them a slighter better use in 1.2 though.
But they're kittens, I can't expect them to be useful. Maybe if they caught me fish :>

But Mojang chose to change game mechanics at will every other day. I don't want to catch up with that. I want a fixed rule set and Jeb to fix the bugs.
Don't tell me you honestly think the snapshots are even meant to be updates to the game, right?
There's a reason they're called 'snapshots' and not '1.1.0 Pre-release X'.
Every week when he can, Jeb basically copies the minecraft.jar and uploads it. So that people can see what changes he does every week. There's a reason why Jeb has been doing lots of different things every week. It's because he's trying his hardest to listen to the community, do things the community wants, make a game Mojang likes, and fix the game Notch left him :> So he's been fixing, tweaking and adding things every week.
I honestly adore this snapshot. I guess the three-week break lead up to this being a huge one. I don't honestly have much to complain about anymore. I hope that by 'smoothing out biome transitions' he means he fixed swamp grass. At least the grass, i'd be OK with the water being the same if he fixed the grass.
Dec 2, 2011Rpsfunkey posted a message on Notch Steps Down, Jeb Takes Lead Developer Position for MinecraftSqueeeee! >3< We're finally getting mod API!Posted in: News
I can see what Notch means by Jeb being mod-friendly. I think the entire modding community just collectively awww'd when he said that there's no way in hell he [Jeb] can do as much to Minecraft as the internet can. Hehe :3
But this was already an idea fluffing about so i'm not surprised.
I'm glad Notch isn't full-on resigning from development on Minecraft though.

Wow, apples fall from trees. What epic job they did! They work so hard on that Game! Ironie off:Thats the work of 2-3 weeks? ridiculous laughable! This Game is more Beta then ever! I think they are just noobs! A real Game Company would make this Game epic, but at Mohjang we get apples in 3 week work! They have no creativity! They ruin the Game more and more!
=/ They're on vacation at the moment from Minecon. But that'll end soon probably.
And they didn't have any form of idea as to what to add, and guess what?
THESE ARE BUG FIX AND TWEAK PATCHES.
You aren't going to find blatant new features in a bug patch. It's awkward for even the apples to be there since that's a new thing.
And it's something people have been wanting for a good year AND WE FINALLY GOT IT.
