Added Craft Smelt! By the way, the 31 recipes each is only for amounts of 1-3. I'll add support of 4-8 later. :tongue.gif:

How about a recipe converting one snowball to one snow cover block? I mean the 'block' you get snowballs from in the first place, not the 4-ball full blocks just to be clear. I don't mind when (I'm still trying to find a snow biome) so if it'll save some work just wait 'til the beta.

    I can do that. :smile.gif:

    Added diamonds. :smile.gif:

EDIT: Finally got around to starting Craft-Smelt (for real this time)...each ingredient officially has 31 recipes. You guys better like this one. :wink.gif:

Are giants still in the game?

Technically yes, they just aren't on the spawn lists.

great idea Roudaround, I think this will be a useful thread to return to after the beta breaks the perfect harmony of mods I have finally managed to get working simultaneously in my current game.

Have you considered the listing the better mods that alter the gameplay to be more interesting and fun?

I mean the well designed and implemented mods like Mo' creatures, controller block and 303's grapple hook and arrows. In future I think the (higher quality) mods that may be seen as "cheating" and unbalanced but still add a great element of fun and uniqueness to the game would make an excellent category for those looking for a step up of just the realistic enhancements.

    Already planned:

To update on the important info of the original thread:

After beta release, I will add categories such as "Most Popular," "More Difficult Game Play," etc.

Very useful tutorial. :smile.gif: I personally use Notepad++ but I've played around with Eclipse on my uncle's computer before.

Ok, here is some constructive criticism.

Firstly, to seronis, the search feature on the forums is quite adequate to everyone's needs.
Secondly, since the thread is aimed at noobs, you should write up the top stuff like "Always remember to delete META-INF otherwise you can't install mods properly" and "to get to the minecraft jar do this (and then u tell how to get to minecraft jar on windows and mac"

The search feature sucks. It's weak and meager and even so, hardly any new users even know it exists.

And perhaps in the future. It's 4:30 in the morning right now, and I have to be up at 9. I'll probably write up installation instructions and make a video tutorial and all that later - that is, if the API in beta doesn't eliminate the need for all of that. :tongue.gif:

@CreeperDaReeper, I took those two off the list. They will be reappearing in other categories later on though. :tongue.gif: And thanks for the link, even though now you have to change it. I'll link to OSMS too. :wink.gif: Oh, and I'll add those other two in a second.

Round: since the idiot is already derailing the point of the thread clear the subject on this one and just start a new one. I've already clicked report on everything he said for "no purpose other than to flame" violations so if he steps in a new thread that should elevate it from potentially getting a warning to something harsher.

    Sounds like a plan. Thanks.

Could a mod lock/delete this thread?

Also, GOODNESS! 16 post-eats by the forums. This is ridiculous.

Idiot who posted above me: I don't have a sister.

And why make this thread? Why not just suggest to the thread I linked to, to put a category in for recommended mods? The last thing we need here is another useless thread. And again, why would a noob come on here for mods anyway?

He already said he wasn't doing that. Too much work to provide both a list of all mods and a list of recommended mods. So I decided to organize it. Stop trolling my thread already and get out.

EDIT: I will probably add different categories later on. I just wanted to get the original purpose done right now. The rest will probably wait for the community to update after beta's release, so that I can sort out which ones are continued and which die.

Lahwrans Settings API mod needs to go on the essentials category. Its already extremely functional and is getting rewrites to make it even better. It will become a critical piece (a prerequisite) for many mods that wish to simplify configuration

Alright, I'll add it to the list. If there are any others you can see/think of, let me know.

Ugh... yes it is the same. You just chose what ones you think are the best. The thread I linked to has a lot more mods therefore a lot more to choose from.

No, you don't get the point. OSMS lists all the mods. Here I'm listing what players should get when they're starting out. Tweaks, fixes, basics. Not the ones I think are best by any means. That's what the "Other Recommended Mods" will be when I get around to it. It'll include the most popular, such as BiomeTerrain, Mo' Mobs, and 303's Arrows. I realize OSMS has a lot more to choose from, but it's an awful long list for someone who just buys MC and comes on here to look for mods for the first time. I'm providing the starting platform for them to go off of.

    EDIT:

You, sir, are an idiot. Even looking at the posts you made on the OSMS thread are completely revolting, but I digress.

The point of this thread is to show people who are completely new to modding helpful mods to, you know, help them.
Sure, the OSMS has a lot more variety, but it's not exactly in a Most Helpful to Least Helpful order, so this thread was just made to point out the most helpful/useful.

    Mirite?

(I joined just to make you feel bad. Congratulations.)

    Yes, thank you.

No, this is nothing like that. Read the text first before you make an ignorant assumption like that next time.
