posted a message on Minecraft destroyed my computer?

I think you burned out your GPU. Probably running those shaders overworked the GPU which caused it to heat up, but instead of clocking down like it should, it burned out.

I'm not really sure how the fan could have come loose or the pins bent. Based on the other malfunctions you listed the heat could have harmed other components.

Just in case, I think you should remove the hard disks/SSD out of the computer and copy any files you want to keep to your laptop. Install the new GPU and then do a clean install of windows 10 using the CD (if you don't have one then you might be able to request one from Microsoft). Once you have done that, copy the files back on to the computer and reinstall the applications.

    Hope this helped

Alright thanks for the info. I can probably get a new GPU, but hopefully it didn't damage my motherboard, PCIE slot, or my PSU.

posted a message on Minecraft destroyed my computer?

Hello everyone. I am posting this from my laptop.

So a week ago, I was playing Minecraft like any other day, I was playing on multi-player, using shaders, using custom texture packs and then all of a sudden as I was fighting zombies, I start lagging, and then Minecraft freezes. I start panicking because I was in the middle of playing, so I waited a few seconds to see if the freezing and lag goes away. But, it didn't. Next I get an error that my GPU has recovered from a crash, so It wasn't that big of an issue. Then, I check my temps and my GPU is suddenly running at low temps and running at a higher clock speed. I was confused, but I didn't care much. Next I decided to reload Minecraft and play for a while. 20 minutes later, When I was chatting to other players in the chat, I got another error about my GPU recovering. I got very annoyed. Next, my monitor started flickering and colors were all over the place, and my monitor suddenly turned off. I checked my monitor cable to see if it was loose and it fine. I tried waiting a few seconds to let my old GPU recover from the crash, but It didn't.

Next, I decided to restart my PC. When I turned it on, it sounded like something was making a grinding sound and then I heard a pop. I Immediately turned off the power supply switch. I thought my PC was overheating, so I gave it a ten second break. Next, I attempted to turn it on again and it started making an even louder grinding noise. I shut it down and opened up the case. There was no smoke or burning smell. I checked to see if there were any wires getting stuck, but there weren't any. Then, I checked to see if there was any damage, but there was no physical damage, except the GPU sticking out of it's slot. My GPU appeared to be fully inserted, but the screw and the top flap looked bent. So, I took out the card to check it. There seems to be very little damage. The top flap is bent, the PCIE pins on the inside seem to be more brown than the other side, and the GPU fan is really loose.

Next, I tried putting the GPU back in, but the top flap didn't seem to be aligned with the case screw holes. So, I was a numbskull and just taped the thing to the case. Then, I tried turning it on, but it still made a grinding noise. Next, I just decided to keep it out of my PC. After taking it out, I was just thinking about using the integrated graphics (Intel HD 530) until I can save up for a new GPU. After thinking about the integrated graphics, I realized that my motherboard doesn't have any VGA/HDMI/DVI ports, plus I haven't bought an internal speaker yet. So, next I tried turning on my PC and connected my speakers to hear the windows login sound, but there was no sound. Next the computer constantly restarted, no sound, no video. My computer is just now a mess :/

The upside is that I have a laptop that I could use temporarily. But, I get 20-80 FPS on low settings , rather than my PC getting 700 at max settings.

Okay. So, here is the question. Does anyone know the problem with my PC? I have no video or internal speakers until next week.

    My Specs:

    OS: Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

CPU: Intel Core i5-6400 Quad Core 2.70GHz (w/Intel HD 530 Integrated Graphics)

    RAM: Crucial Ballistix 8GB (1x8GB) DDR4 2133MHz (Underclocking)

SSD: Crucial BX200 240GB (Main drive)

    HDD: Western Digital 1TB 7200RPM

GPU: EVGA Geforce GTX 570 Superclocked 1.2GB 820MHz

Mobo: ASUS E3 Pro Server DDR4 ATX

    PSU: Corsair CX850M 850W

    Can someone please help me?

posted a message on Overclocking my GPU by 23MHz boosted FPS and lowered temps???

Hello everyone. I recently overclocked my GPU (GTX 570) by 23MHz and I noticed a large FPS boost and my temps lowered by 10c??? When benchmarking Minecraft, i noticed that when using Shaders, that it is now playable at 28-32 FPS. Before i used to get around 5-8 FPS.

Stock Clock: 797MHz OC Clock: 820MHz

Minecraft vanilla at medium settings (8 chunks, fancy, all particals)

    Before OC: 250-320 FPS

    After OC: 350-500

Minecraft Shaders, 256x texture pack, 3D blocks mod (16 chunks, fancy, all particals)

    Before OC: 5-8 FPS

    After OC 28-32 FPS

Temperature when playing Minecraft before OC: 85c-89c

Temperature when playing Minecraft after OC: 70c-78c

    Idle temperature before OC: 42c-48c

    Idle temperature after OC: 34c-42c

    It seems very weird.

posted a message on Pushing my old GPU to it's limits to make Minecraft look beautiful

Hello everyone! I am trying to how far my old trusty EVGA GTX 570 can go with maxing out Minecraft! I tried running a lot of mods, texture packs to see what results i can get.

Here is what I am going to use on Minecraft 1.10:

    SEUS Ultra Shaders 11.0

Optifine 1.1.0 C2 (for the shaders)

    Realistico 256x256 demo texture pack

    Default 3D resource pack

    FXAA 2x Anti-Aliasing

    Maximum Settings (32 render distance,fancy,all particals,etc)

    My Specs:

    OS: Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

CPU: Intel Core i5-6400 Quad Core 2.70GHz 3.30GHz boost

    RAM: Crucial Ballistix 8GB (8GBx2) DDR4 2133MHz Underclocked

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 570 Superclocked 797MHz 1.2GB

SSD: Crucial BX200 240GB (Main Drive)

    HDD: Western Digital 1TB 7200RPM 3.5 SATA

    Case: Enermax Ostrog ECA-3253 ATX

    Mobo: ASUS E3-Pro V5 Server LGA1151 ATX

    PSU: Corsair CX850M 850W

    Monitor: Dell 2202M 19.0inch 1600x900 IPS

Average FPS (max settings, seus shaders, 256x texture pack, FXAA 2x, 3d blocks texture pack)

    8-30 FPS

So the results and other things are in the attachment pictures below.

That is bannable, since clocks could cause a server to crash.

Yeah that's true, since there are some clients that could actually do that.

I just use optifine for shaders and just in case to prevent any lag spikes or FPS drops when I am PVPing or sprinting.

Anyone have suggestions on the minimum specs I would need to run Minecraft decently? Need to add a 4th computer since my youngest is starting to play now.

I'm thinking about building my own, but wasn't really sure how cheap I could get away with. Anyone built or bought a budget PC that runs minecraft well without lag?

    What is your budget?

posted a message on SLI or not.

Minecraft doesn't support multi-gpu so it won't be worth it, but if you are playing other games, it would be alright.

If i'd were you, i would wait for the AMD RX 480 or get the GTX 970.

You could get the GTX 750 Ti or get the GTX 950 with rebate. You would get more than 60+ FPS.

Do you play other games? If you only play Minecraft, this build would be overkill...

If you are planning to just play Minecraft, i would get the i5-6500 instead of the i5-6500K and wait for the AMD RX 480. Also you could only get 8GB of RAM. You wouldn't need 16GB just to play it.
