I will miss this mod greatly. It was impressively done with expansive features always turned out with amazing speed. Sadly all things must end, but I will continue to enjoy the released versions fondly

It is really hard not to ask the forbidden question. This version of the mod looks amazing so far and I'm eager to see what comes next. I'm really curious how getting to the outer lands is going to work since there's not any obelisks or nodes it looks like. Will we ever get to see the lands where the crimson dwell? Will the aspects remain the same? Will Jan and Uri make their relationship work despite being changed by seeing beyond our world?!

When Thaumcraft 6.1 Beta26 was installed, all five of the Stabilizers around my Infusion Altar are now pointed straight up. I cannot find any tool that will rotate them, and I have tried all kinds of ways to place them, hoping that i could find a way to place them pointing at my altar.

How do you aim the Stabilizers?

you don't. The new stabilizers have a complementing tile that you lay out like redstone from the stabilizers to the altars. the new stabilization mechanic I've found to be interesting as well as it adds an eldritch aesthetic akin to glyph or rune magi tech. Ooh, idea! for the endgame, maybe an eldritch repeater that takes any signal passed into it from the stabilizers and outputs a max signal at the altar it's pointed at!

The only issue I see with the command is multiplayer where one might only have player access, hence the research suggestion.

Yes allowing a mod to access data outside the Minecraft folder would be dangerous if it came from an unverifiable source, was not properly scanned by an anti malware program, and given access to communicate on certain ports beyond what Minecraft needs to reach a server.

The above file examples weren't suggesting giving free reign of a computer to a mod so much as providing context for what was meant by level. In my version of forge at least I have mods in sub folders based on Minecraft version, 1.7.10, 1.8.9 etc. so allowing the mod to search the entirety of the Minecraft folder versus just searching in the exact directory where it's listed would still be feasible to allow searches for previous versions or other saves of Thaumcraft.

What about instead of a transfer implicit, have a craft-able item that when used adds researches based on a previous save file. If no such file exists then no import takes place. The research for this item could take place as an extension to "research mastery" so that one needs to complete that research first guaranteeing everyone has to do at least a couple researches. This might even be extensible to server communities. This way existing players would have a way to choose if they wanted relatively immediate access to researches that were the same between versions without spoiling new content, and new players would hopefully not feel as left behind.

    [edit]

Admittedly not sure if a mod could do something as powerful as searching through a current directory one or two levels higher (ie: searching m:folders instead of m:/folders/files/currentLocation) or what sort of resource impact that would have on machines.

when I was starting with tubes I had troubles as well, getting the siphon to work though I should be able to help with (the shift right click might be inaccurate, the section on advanced tubes should tell you how to configure the the sides of a buffer). Best way I can describe:

1 > place down the jar you want to empty (source), and next to that the jar you want to fill(destination),

2 > on top of the jar you want to empty, place a buffer.

3 > place a tube connecting the buffer to the destination jar

4 > shift right click on the side of the buffer with the pipe until a red band appears

5 > add a couple bellows to the buffer until the source jar starts to empty.

    6 > enjoy consolidated jars!

while this isn't much of an improvement, one could dig out an area 11 x 11 x 4. place down a layer of 121 candles, a layer of blocks, another layer of candles, and a last layer of blocks, then build the altar over it. it has obvious drawbacks, but it might help with current 1.8 builds. I'd prefer if Azanor added a late game block that was expensive, but non-animated, solid, and enough of a stability boost that one could create an equally stable altar to reasonably avoid nasty altar occurences with far fewer blocks. perhaps something involving infusing a candle with a skull, 4 emerald blocks, and 4 gold gears and being highly unstable in and of itself to create. (really I'm spit balling on the recipe), the idea is compressing several items that add stability into a solid block that can be reasonably added into a build and doesn't require spam. maybe also make it a mechanical device that eats some type of essentia in exchange for added stability so that even after building it, it's not infinitely beneficial and requires a transfuser and pipes connecting it to maintain with the rate or volume of essentia consumed dependant on the stability.

I got some ideas to suggest here if it isn't too much though...

    1. Staff

    - What if we can use another tip of the staff? Like we can do a quick swap without holding "F" to choose Foci from the pouch? Also use both of the Foci(s) at the same time and make a Foci dual combination?

Exp. Fire + Ice = Water or Steam? Shock + Excavation = Petrified? or else that we could think of about.

    2. Golem

    - What if we can create a bigger golem which can be ridden like a robot powered by energized node? (Something like this http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/c/c9/Chimera_ARM_X3.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20110806044509) and we can attach it with Arcane Bore for tunneling, or Foci turret for battling. Or maybe a set of golem suit? (Something like Hulkbuster from Avenger)

That's it, tell me what do you think :3

I would object to the dual wand as in most mythos the idea is one end of the wand/staff/etc is drawing energy into it and the other is where it projects out, ergo if one had foci on both ends there's as much a chance they would interfere with each other as there is they would combine to release new effects. I think if one wanted new wand effects it'd be better to create an infusion recipe where two foci combined that way.

As for the bigger golem it would be interesting to see something done with the existing vanilla iron golems so as to add more function to them, perhaps a recipe involving placing 4 thaumium blocks and an existing golem as the head to create a mechanical mount of some sort. maybe blacklist nether brick fence or obsidian so the golem could not penetrate that and one could create a quarry or at least tell a golem to only flatten blocks within a certain area for easy automatic terraforming.

As for a "Golem Battle Suit" ala Big-O or Gundam, perhaps an infusion upgrade for each of the thaumium fortress armour pieces that require premade thaumium golems (spendy but depending on the merits it might be worth it for cost balance)

One thing I use is I keep a good stack of books on hand, a second of the item I'm trying to get the enchant on, and some dirt. While removing and replacing doesn't change the enchants offered, placing dirt will change the level of the table which can help save resources. It might also be possible to get a librarian who offers that enchant by curing zombies.

I keep getting a crash from hand mirrors, has anyone else run into this. It's a reproducible bug that happens where if one is in the hand mirror GUI, and then try moving an item do a different slot in one's inventory, or dropping it by clicking outside either the mirror or the inventory, the game seems to crash on the client side. I'm including a log in the spoiler.First noticed in SMP environment, present also in ssp.

This is why pipes are good, since I started in tc4, it's been possible to make an essentia sorter using buffers and filtered pipes. the design has since been refined many times without the diffusers (latest iteration in tc5.1.6) uses a centrifuge, and has a comparitor on one of the buffers for a circuit to restrict the flow if too much essentia dumped in the system at once)

That's just "what infinity does", though; there's nothing special about the way Infinity interacts with the Bone Bow, therefore there's no reason for the Bone Bow entry to call out how it works with Infinity.

The Primal Arrows entry defines how it works with Infinity because it's different from how Infinity works with regular arrows.

I would still think mention of it should go somewhere, and I tested it. It seems infinity on a vanilla bow will not work without an arrow in one's inventory. Infinity on the bone bow however does not need an arrow in one's inventory.

But you said there was no entry for Infinity? I'm confused now...

Infinity does not have it's own entry, but is mentioned in others.

The part about the bone bow not needing an arrow when enchanted with infinity I've not seen anywhere in the book, there is only one mention of infinity at all in the thaumonomicon and that's solely in the primal arrows section previously referenced. I just think it would be nice if the bone bow is meant to behave that way that maybe a little blurb could be included in the bone bow page, or perhaps on the enchantments page in the basic info

Infinity? The vanilla enchant? It's a vanilla thing, not something added by thaumcraft... am i missing something?

When enchanted with Infinity, the [Bone] bow does not actually require an arrow to be kept in inventory. It will create and fire arrows even with no arrows in the inventory.

In the primal arrows section there's mention of this:

"the Infinity enchantment only has a one in three chance of not consuming the [primal] arrow."

me and a few other players just noticed, there's no entry in the thaumonomicon for Infinity, is there?
