I really loved this and it's predecessor but the mob spawning drove me crazy. I'm glad they dont spawn in walls but it's very frustrating when they just pop in continually near you. I wish surface spawning was tied to view distance, or just X distance around player, short of that, something to craft and place that creates a safe zone X radius from where it's placed. Similar to the meteor shield in falling meteors, so if you've settled an area or created a village you can make the area safe. The way the falling meteors works, it's crafted with somewhat rare components then it takes a while to charge so you can't simply take it with you everywhere and place it for insta-safety.
Make it a creative-only item if you're too lazy to build a house like me
Both actually. I was actually thinking of Survival but Creative makes sense too. Good for 2nd (or 3rd) home while you're out exploring, or to make your own village up quickly. It would require a ton of mats so not a new world quick start kind of thing.
Very nice mod, great work! I've been playing the heck out it, crafted everything and really enjoying it. I do have a couple humble suggestions:
- Make the oven light not just emit light, but also, if placed above the oven it could increase the speed of the oven. Not by much, could only be half or even quarter more or maybe even just 10% more
- Beds. A nice single, double or even king sized. Just like the couch, putting them together makes it bigger. In addition to acting like a vanilla bed, it could heal the player or maybe give them a buff similar to Elder Scrolls game ("Well Rested" buff I think...)
- Camping gear wold be a cool addition. A tent, campfire (for cooking) and a bedroll maybe
- MrCrays insta-house. Ok, I'm getting a little crazy with this but stay with me. A crap load of resources, full stacks of wood, quartz, iron blocks, gold etc etc crafted together gives you a tiny house in your inventory but when you place it, it'll expand in front of you turning into a fully sized and furnished home. I would make it require empty space be in front of it equal to the size of the house. So if it's a 12x12 house, that area in front of it has to be empty space on flat ground (requiring the player to flatten and prepare the area first).
I really love this mod but my PC grinds to a halt when I'm near a meteor shield. I have a high end PC so I know it's not the problem. I'm allocating 4gigs to Minecraft.
For now, I found that burying the Meteor Shield works...it's the particle effects that make my PC cry. Is there a way to disable the particle effects in the config?
The guy with problems on research ( sorry I don't remember your name ^^') ), have you space on inventory? You need at least one space for the research appears. On the other hand... You said that you payed for the research,? If so, those ones don't need the research mini game or paper and scrubbing tools neither, they automatically get researched.
BTW, a big node (80+) which is pale you can also use them at the beginning. Will make easier go to jar the next node, and use it until you get one better. I also recommend to get "pure nodes", with this I mean only one aspect, as they recharge faster. The only con is that you will need to get more nodes.
Yes I do. Not sure what's going on..maybe I'm doing it wrong? It seems pretty straight forward though, get the right aspects, open book and unlock research. I have no idea why the research paper isn't appearing in my inventory.
I need some help with research, no research notes are appearing. I'm following the Thamonomicon and (near as I can tell) doing everything correctly. I unlock the right aspects, I open the book and click one of the subjects I unlocked, I see a notice flash by about research notes but I have none in my inventory.
What's wrong? (I do have the scribing tools and paper so that's not it)
Great mod! Unfortunately I have a minor issue with squid not spawning (or being hyper rare). It's unfortunate because I'm playing with mods that require ink. Whenever I need any, I have to remove the mod, kill a bunch of squid then reinstall the mod. Hopefully something that can be fixed in the next version
If it's not in loaded chunks it won't spread. Additionally it takes ages (assuming default spread values in the config) to spread the taint. It spreads like wildfire within the biome itself, but spreading the biome takes quite a while.
Back in an old 1.6.4 world I accedently setup my home near taint and it never even reached my little shack. Unless you're literally right next to it you should have plenty of time to move away or find silverwood/shimmerleaf. If it's a large amount of taint I recommend you simply move away. Cleaning up a lot of taint takes a lot of time.
Regarding you're suggestion:
I'm not even sure that's possible. How would such a thing work on a server?
I unfortunately setup a home near it and I really really don't want to migrate...I like the neighborhood, there's some interesting features around...
As for the suggestion, good point about server versions. I was thinking exclusively of single player. I don't think my suggestion would work on a server. I just wish there was some kind of bulwark against lack of Silverwood trees....some conditional in the code or something, maybe a way in the mod to ensure they appear or something....
Great mod, really fantastic work. Regarding Taint, I unfortunately had to disable growth in the config which I really didn't want to do. The reason why is that there are several tainted areas and no Silverwood.
I understand Silverwood is rare but I created a copy of my world in creative mode, flew around for a very long time and confirmed there wasn't a single Silverwood anywhere ( I even flew around unexplored/new areas never finding one). Since I'm pretty far away from creating etheral bloom I felt I didn't have a choice but to disable it for now (I know if it's not loaded it won't spread, but my home was near a tainted area). I intend to re-add growth once I get further along.
SUGGESTION: I very highly suggest having taint not spreadable until a player has unlocked a way to contain it. Either they can create etheral blooms or have obtained a Silverwood sapling. Once either condition is met, taint growth starts. This would still have the challenge of containing taint without the stress & burden of dealing it with it early game. This also fits the theme of the mod, as the player has unlocked magic and the world is reacting to it.
Alternatively, growth can not start until they reach x part of the mod.
Love the mod but hit a bit of a rough patch....Im not sure if it's a bug but when dying in Mysterium I did not spawn at my bed in the overworld. With no armor, weapons or tools, this let to an impossible situation where my only choice was to delete the entire game world and start over. VERY furstrating!
If it's not a bug, I suggest making the spawn point be at the portal, so a player can still emergency evac to the overworld.
Minecraft keeps failing when trying to start with anything past 512MB of RAM. "Could not reserve space for objects in the heap"
I've been searching and searching and all I can find is "you need more RAM". Surely not. Unless 16GB is insufficient. I usually run the game at 10GB and see 7GB usage easily.
It does it without mods or forge. But it runs fine on the default launcher.
Edit: Did some more testing. Apparently Java doesn't close correctly, so it still prepares 10GB of space. So when I restart it, it attempts to use another 10GB. This is with no mods, just Magic Launcher.
Happen to know a cause?
I'm getting the exact same thing. Works vanilla, but even Magic Launcher with no mods doesn't work at all
Haven't had any Walled NPC villages yet, on the normal setting for it. All the Floating villages are just floating obsidian for me
You could show pictures and crashes (if any) to prove the fact so someone can help, because all i can say is there is a duplication bug on this mod somewhere
Since multiple people are reporting the same error I don't feel the need to 'prove the fact' and besides, why would anyone lie about an error?
Still, I like this mod and I want it to succeed so I have done so. See below for pics
Below is of me hovering over a village (look at the mini map, top right corner)
and below here is a map (using unmined) showing it. Look at the vanilla village (top left corner, tiny grey squares below the lake) for an idea of scale
@RooksGambit99: what other mods are you running asside from OptiFine and Millénaire?
Just DungeonPack and Reis minimap but when I remove it I still get the errors. I tried removing all mods and doing a force update, then creep in other mods one at a time. Forge first, and it works then Optifine and crash...I strongly suspect, given the history, it's not Optifine alone but likely the interaction between it and forge
Still crashing with a 'Ticking World' error in D4. When I remove all other mods but keep Optifine, it still crashes. If I remove Optifine it runs. I'm running Forge 411.
