posted a message on Simple "Time Machine" request

Based on http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/129607/is-there-a-way-to-slow-down-the-day-night-cycle I was able to create the command block machine using the four command blocks. I decided it needed an on/off switch, so I made a simple lever and had the first block require redstone. Adding a lever to it let me turn it off and on.

What I'd "like", but I'm not sure how to do is to make an "if/ then" and "prettify" the contraption. By "pretty" I would like to have a redstone lamp on the top of some small structure that is lit when the clock is running, off when it isn't. I'd like it to have a switch to turn it off, though an on-sign/ off-sign would be fine also. In my case, I'd like players to be able to toggle the switch (we have a super tiny server) though I understand other servers would prefer only /op flag players have that access.

In either case, it would be good to have console warn everyone "Time stands still, the skies are frozen" or "Time moves on." I'm not clear on how to do the "if/ then" portion or the fancy stuff, but if anyone is interested in cooking something up, perhaps it would be a "thing" like The Tempest Box or some of the Only One Command things popping up. If nobody is interested, that's cool... what I have works, even if it is ugly. We'll live with it until I am able to learn more how to do it myself. It will just take a LOT longer for me to sort it out. :)

About editing .json in resource packs, I'm not sure if this will be useful or works in the context of the OptiFine mods, but...

http://jragoncommands.weebly.com/tempests-box.html The Tempest Box uses command blocks *and* a resource pack to modify not only textures but shapes to specific objects. It may be useful to check out TTB's resource pack to see how it is put together and *if* you can use any techniques from it. You may not be able to because of current Optifine limitations, but I wouldn't know that. But if TTB opens up some possibilities for you on remodeling things, well then I'm glad to point you in that direction. :)

Ouch. It sounds as if perhaps the MineLittlePony mod handles the server business, rather than something sneaky in how the Litemod works. I didn't think the data process through, hoping as I did the magic "somehow" would just do it. :( I should know better.

It would be interesting and useful if someone familiar with Spigot plugins would be interested in teaming up with you to do something like this. https://dev.bukkit.org/projects/villagemarker is a mod with both a Spigot plugin to handle server-side "Here's a village!" data and a LiteLoader "Oh, let me display the village!" client side. It would be a happy thing if there was a Spigot plugin that would let me tell the LiteLoader clients who has HD skin data and what website and key to use to pull the image from. Unfortunately, I'm not anywhere near competent enough to sort out those kinds of details.

Thank you for considering and responding, though. :)

The only one I'd really suggest is something like "MineLittlePony", only you could enter a specific website (such as one I have) and have the "HDSkins" mod pull from that website. There would have to be controls of some sort, of course. A server may not wish to allow HD skins even through a client mod, or could only deny it until approved using the ClientPermissions mod. I would have to upload what HD .PNG skins I approve of to my website before players could use them from my website. I could, perhaps, set permissions so the skins could only be allowed on *my* Minecraft server and not anyone else's, which I would control using a a whitelist on my server that your plugin would respect. Perhaps the Litemod would only show my HD skin only for myself on any other server if "uptight restrictions" are used. Body sizes, male/ female models could be supported the way MineLittlePony does using color tags at the top left corner the way MineLittlePony does. Perhaps it could be made to "soft-depend" on MineLittlePony.

Anyway, that's the mod I'd really love to have and allow my players HD skins on my server downloaded from my website.

Most everyone at some point ends up with some sort of enchanted diamond armor, and we all look alike except for faces. We use TeamSpeak and we coordinate, but in the heat of battle against mobs it does end up confusing, if only for a moment. I do wish there was some way to "personalize" armor.

The good news is, ItemBound will do that.

The bad news is, ItemBound does not have many options for doing that with diamond armor.

So I have a rainbow cape, rainbow socks which can not be easily seen with my diamond boots, and diamond cat ears for my ferret avatar. Leather has a huge number of options. Iron disguises are cool.

I'd love to have some love on those diamond suits, please. :)

As a Ferret-American, I would appreciate something like Diamond flip-flops, diamond knee pads, diamond gloves (resembling the flip-flops for forepaws) and a diamond collar. People would be able to tell I'm using enchanted diamond armor, but they could easily see me for me. Having this for the other armor material would be happy also, and allow others to enjoy showing off their player skins while wearing good armor.

posted a message on Is there a mod- that fix's the nether portals connection for MP?

Nether portals "work as intended in Vanilla". If you prefer to run a server with a mod, that is an option WHEN you run a server and have control over that.

Otherwise, http://ilurker.rooms.cwal.net/portal.html and other online "nether portal calculators" are your friend when you do NOT have control over mods, or you wish to play on a Vanilla server, or you are playing on Realms. When I'm doing anything involving Nether portals I spank the heck out of that link above. "Indispensible" in my opinion.

In someone's opinion, portals may be "broken" and "you shouldn't have to mess around" and so on. In *vanilla", portals function as intended, and when they do not, it creates a huge problem for various reasons such as with https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-89928 which would "insta-kill" players with suffocation damage or such. The portals work as they do as a "best simple compromise" on the part of the devs. If it doesn't meet your requirements, you are looking for a plugin or mod, yes.

But knowing and accepting the "how" and "why" of Vanilla Nether Gate behavior is the beginning of wisdom.

I apologize for bringing up a long dead post, but it would be a beautiful thing if someone could create a "Plotz" version of this, or contact the author of the Plotz page and add this to it. It would be so helpful to be able to choose between slab and full block and simply tweak adjustments with a slider for size and droopiness, a click-button for slabs and a click button for inversion.

posted a message on Pop Enchant Tags Revived (Liteloader only)

I have a crasher bug involving https://dev.bukkit.org/projects/beloved-blocks. These are blocks not available in Creative, but "can" exist in Minecraft. In order to have them in your inventory, the server shows them as "enchanted" blocks such as for "smooth bark", all bark logs, or "smooth double-stone slab", a full block of "double stone slab" without the crease in the middle.

When I have pop-up enchants *and* the "beloved block" in my inventory, I get a "null pointer" error, but it doesn't even get to the point of recording anything in the log file, so I've no log to send. The game crashes back to the Loader.

If you have a test server to install beloved-blocks, that's great. Or if you need, I can PM info for you to login on my server to test. You may recognize more of what is going on. I see I do have a "crash-reports" log, so I'll put that info below. I did confirm renaming the Pop Enchants plugin prevents crashing logins (*.litemod --> *.litemod~).

I didn't want to overly complicate a discussion of @minecraftmojang646's "how do you set it up on a server?" question by bringing that wrinkle up, but yes. :)

@ChaosGamerElite, I'd love to take the BDCraft stuff I linked to, sort out where they "belong" in the ItemBound framework, then make a BDCraft style patch to ItemBound. You would have a stack of BDCraft on top of Vanilla, then ItemBound, then the "BDcraft-ItemBound Patch". That would fix the problem of certain weapons appearing "default-ish" and add "BDCraft" versions of the BattleAxe, and so on. The problem is time. I work 11 hr days, and I have a Minecraft server to run. So it could be a LONG TIME before I get to actually doing "the thing". :(

@NeonlsNean: Correct, so you get to decide what it's worth and vote with your feet. I did, and all I got was a monthly bill for the privilege of running my own Minecraft server as a part-time job. At least I don't have to deal with admins not wanting to fix some quirk in their server or petty attitude from staff. I am the staff. :-p

@minecraftmojang646: I'm not clear what you are asking. LiteLoader/ VoxelMap is entirely client-side. There isn't anything for a server to set up so people can use LiteLoader/ VoxelMap.

https://www.spigotmc.org/threads/minecraft-1-11-2.202085/ starts you off on how to set up your own server. I would encourage you to try it because it takes most of the mystery and "magic" out of setting up and running a server and gives you an /op eye's view of the things we see. You can then see what people like @MamiyaOtaru needs to more easily help with questions of plugins and mods. Once you've done it, it's no big deal, and it's really pretty cool!

On many servers, you may use /plugins to get a list of plugins. Some have that command blocked. http://mcstats.org/ appears to be down, but I think you may be able to use sites like that to actually look up plugins on other servers unless they specifically took the time to block it, and many don't even if they blocked /plugins on the server.

"bisecting plugins" simply means turning about half of them off to see if the half still left *on* causes the problem. If it works with half turned on, it must be in the group you turned off. Keep a running list and turn on about half of what's left. If the problem returns, it must be one of the ones you just turned on. It is a great deal of annoying work if you have a huge list of, say, 50 plugins. Eventually, you will find the plugin causing the problem.

If the server owner isn't willing to work with you because you shouldn't be using VoxelMap in the first place, you have to decide if VoxelMap is worth more than being dishonest with the server op that doesn't want you to use it. And even if you did find the specific plugin that is causing the issue, what do you do? "Hey ServerOp, could you fix this one plugin causing my VoxelMap to not work correctly? You know, that mod you don't want me using?" Eh... yeah.

Or if the ServerOp doesn't mind if you use VoxelMap but won't work with you to figure it out, you have to weigh that against finding another server where this isn't an issue. Or now that you know how to compile and run Spigot, maybe starting your own. >:)

@ChaosGamerElite, http://bdcraft.net/community/unofficial-addons/ has "add-ons" using Optifine with the same method. I'm considering replacing the basic sword and ax options in ItemBound with the higher resolution BDCraft items, then sending it to the BDCraft Add-ons forum as a "patch" for ItemBound. Nobody has "exclusive ownership" over the method Optifine provides, but ItemBound totally rocks in making use of it. :)
