posted a message on UNUSUALLY HIGH LAG IN MINECRAFT MULTIPLAYER -- HELP!

I'm following the thread with interest, but this is totally *not* my area of expertise. It sounds as if you ran the server on a separate computer within your home, and your connection works fine. http://minecraft-mp.com/search/ will allow you to search by location, but if you are in the United States or other country with a large area, that list isn't going to be useful. I would likely beg a friend who I trust, who trusts me, and is competent to run a Spigot server through their firewall for testing, IP locked to my external IP, then see how things go.

You are certain your Windows7 isn't simply re-infected? Beyond looking to those things, I'm out of ideas. :(

Well, https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-83488 is the official bug report for this problem, and I do hope Mojang will simply fix it.

Also, you can actually allocate TOO much ram and LOWER performance. You should look at using the default resource pack at first as part of bug-testing, and as @DaEpicEnder said, if you are having problems, making sure your chunk display is set at 10 or lower *first* and going from there.

    Howdy!

https://dev.bukkit.org/projects/villagemarker/files has LiteLoaderMod-for-VillageMarker-0.45 v2 at the top of the page. It downloads as a .jar, just rename that to .litemod and you are good to go. I *think* that and LiteLoader are all you need for SinglePlayer. If you are on a Spigot server, they will need the "VillageMarker-0.45 for Spigot 1.11.2" .jar a little further down the page.

posted a message on Is "Teams" appropriate for granting "God Mode" to a group of players?

Thank you. I think while I am learning command block, I'll just stick to making individual versions of this to keep it simple. Perhaps someone will come up with an efficient plan for this sort of thing.

    posted a message on WorldEditCUI

LiteLoader mods are always a "client side" effect, though some such as WECui only provide an effect *if* the server (or single player instance) has what will make the client LiteLoader mod work.

In this specific cause, worldeditcui won't work without WorldEdit running either on the server or your single-player instance. https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/worldedit is the link to get WorldEdit. If you are using SinglePlayer, you will want to install Forge then WorldEdit as a mod for that. Once WorldEdit is in place, WorldEditCUI will display the selected area WorldEdit will affect.

posted a message on Is "Teams" appropriate for granting "God Mode" to a group of players?

    I'm reading http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Scoreboard#Teams

One of my players is an older gentleman. His reflexes are not very good, and he gets confused as to how to deal with different mobs. His adult son plays on my server, and when I was running Spigot & EssentialsX, we would just "/god" mode him and call the job done. While we are running Snapshot, I made a redstone loop of four repeaters plus a piston & observer block to trigger on and stop it. This allows me to turn on and off chains of command blocks for specific players, such as "GammaBright" (hit my wife with a NightSight effect every 16 redstone ticks) and for testing. In his case, I gave him a cursed vanishing, cursed binding diamond chestplate of "no knockback ever" and a command chain that ensures he never takes damage.

Another player wishes to have the same "God Mode", and our server is small and comfortable enough, ONLY close friends and family, I don't have a problem with that. But I'd like a better solution than making another redstone loop and command block chain for each player.

    Two questions, of a fashion:

    1) Is a "God Mode" Team an appropriate use for Scoreboard "Teams"? Or would using Teams this way interfere with other Useful Things? I'm guessing if they are "God Mode", they need to NOT be on a Minigames Team, so I think it would be just fine. But I want to be sure I'm using the right tool for the right job.

    2) Is it feasible to have the same single redstone loop and invoke a command block chain on "Anyone on this God Mode team online, do the following chain of stuff?"

Thank you for helping me understand command block usage.

I remember the great words of Bill Cavalier: "You don't play D&D to go to college, you go to college to play D&D!"

I don't know if that would mean SixFootBlue would have more time for this project if he went to college, but I do hope he is able to maintain the project. :)

I support what you are doing, and I support you taking the time you need to take to do it. I love IB, though we are not using it at the moment because SNAPSHOT, but once we get OptiFine, my players and I really look forward to putting this back in. I'm also going to direct people to this video so they have a better idea of the actual people in the community who creates the things we enjoy.

    Be well!

posted a message on I Don't Know how to run minecraft server

Unless you are very aware of the risks and how to protect your computer, opening up a hole using Port Forwarding is risky. Really, your best bet is using a hosting company, and there are so many to choose from. If you don't need mods, https://minecraft.net/en-us/realms/ is an option you can use to get started, and if you decide you need more than what Realms offers... that is how you know what you want and what you are willing to pay for.

While it may be possible, that would also make the armor in your inventory or chests appear invisible. Then you have the issue of griefers appearing to wear invisible armor.

My hope is that SixFootBlue implements my suggestion of low profile armor in the form of collars (helmet slot), harnesses (chest slot), belt (leggings slot) and anklets or possibly "gloves/ booties" (boot slot). The armor could still be easily seen, but would be of a lower profile so character skins will show. They would also be a good fit for me with my ferret skin. :)

posted a message on uyjulian's X-ray Mod - No patcher required! Drop into mods folder with Liteloader installed!
    Quote from julialy»

    Disclaimer:
X-ray or any similar modifications can be used for many purposes. Just because I am publishing this modification does NOT mean I take responsibility for what you or others use this for.

If you are here to express your distaste of X-ray or any similar modifications, please get out of this topic, as you are simply wasting everyone's time.

Most servers prohibit the use of X-ray or any similar modifications, and a great many of those servers also have a mod that will detect players that use X-ray or any similar modifications. I do not endorse the use of this modification, any X-ray or any similar modification on servers that prohibit any X-ray or any similar modification!

I'm not clear why ClientPermissions would be a "backdoor". It would simply allow servers to ENFORCE a code of behavior and allow limited use of your mod if that is what they choose. You still have full control over your code. As it is, ClientPermissions can be installed on any Spigot server, and your code simply chooses to ignore it. If you decided to make it possible, a server could promote the use of your X-ray mod for CaveFinder (when you put that code back in) while disallowing other features, or "use this to find coal and iron, but diamonds and emeralds are still secret". But you would be the one to decide what and how this would work. All code changes are still your choice in what and how they would work.

ClientPermissions is maintained by the same Mumphrey that does the LiteLoader code, and he would of course be able to answer any questions you might have about it. If Mumphrey can't be trusted, then any LiteLoader mod is pretty much screwed. It's just an option for consideration that make X-ray more acceptable on servers that would allow use THEY can control, rather than outright banning any use at all.

On my server, my rule is "Be ethical, be respectful, enjoy the game." I make sure my players are aware of this mod and I talk them through installing it. I don't have ClientPermissions installed on the server because I encourage players to use their brains to set their own limits and not do "bad things" to their own close and personal friends and family, or to ruin the game for themselves. If they go to other servers and forget to turn X-ray off, it would be cool to have the server be able to set policy so they don't get in a bind over "accidental" use.

Excellent! Have you considered hooks into https://dev.bukkit.org/projects/clientpermissions to allow the server op to decide "if" and "how much" X-ray will work? An obvious one is for a server op that says, "I don't want X-ray to work at all". But another one is where the op will allow X-ray to work, but with certain limitations you might easily configure, such as "cave finder only" to locate those pesky mobs you hear but can't find. Or... something like that.

You have to load the resource pack at the top of your resource list screen (the right side). You also have to have Optfine working and set correctly to show custom items.
