posted a message on Some days I can't control myself... at least with Minecraft VR...

VR doesn't usually bother me, and I'm finding this works out really well in my case. Other people have reported Minecraft VR gives them "sensitivity issues."

I've been playing Minecraft long enough, and simply typing in games long enough the keyboard is an extension of myself. I type and I really don't even think about it. The keyboard controls are simply an extension of myself in Minecraft.

I *think* I might enjoy the Touch controls of Oculus Rift more if I were comfortable sprinting and moving. But the touch control have so few triggers and ways to do things. Perhaps I'll just have to work at it until it clicks.

And yes, this is "True VR". When you start, you do appear in a Minecraft house with a stair as a "chair" in front of a screen. This is to 'help' you adjust to the game. Press the "Y" button and the screen zooms in and surrounds you, and from that point, it is full-immersion VR. If you are feeling "wibbly" you can press "Y" again to toggle the "VR Theater" setting so you can get your bearings.

Ok. This is definitely not my expertise, and I understood the situation incorrectly.

posted a message on Has 1.13 broken minecraft?

My server is running the 1.13.1-pre1 Vanilla code. Mumbo's latest portcullis was broken in one of the 1.13 pre-releases, still broken in 1.13.ZERO, now back to working in the 1.13.1-pre1 snapshot. Spigot can't begin to do 1.13.1 until it is officially released, of course. Water also preforms much better in the pre-release snapshot we are running so far, but I'm getting the "can't keep up" message logged at boot time.

In my opinion, 1.13.ZERO is a "snapshot quality" release. I really don't feel Minecraft was ready for an Official Release, but it would appear there was pressure to just got on with it, and so Mojang did. 1.13.1 appears to be much better on performance, and hopefully we'll see 1.13.1 roll out soon without the introduction of more bugs along the way.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/7eqzdt/eli5_how_does_flattening_work/

The "block count limit" is limited only to the total number of blocks in a chunk... 4096... per chunk. So you could have a million different blocks within a map, but you can only fit 4096 in one chunk, each of those having a different value in the lookup table. Thus the total number of different blocks that could be in the game are "practically infinite". That's the 4096 block count limit... same as what can go into any one chunk.

posted a message on Some days I can't control myself... at least with Minecraft VR...

I finally have my Oculus Rift up and working and I'm playing Minecraft Bedrock. I'm really amazed and thrilled by seeing the game in this way.

    SEEING the game, that is.

    Playing, not so much.

I don't have nausea reported by others in reviews and such. I cut my teeth on the Java version of Minecraft and I enjoy Bedrock game play well enough on the keyboard. What I would "like", I think, is some way to have more control options than what the Touch controllers do for me. I *think* I can dig up my old USB XBox controller, or just by another one. But I have a perfectly good keyboard and I'm touch-typist enough to use it just fine without seeing my fingers. I sure as heck don't play the game looking at the keyboard.

The escape key is faster and easier than targeting an "X" on a chest. When I run, I normally bounce but I'm not clear what the "sprint" is on the controller. I'm also rather nervous about the "auto-jump" jumping me right out of the fire and into the lava. Would any other VR players have advice on how they get the most out of their game?

posted a message on Commands are broken and dead in 1.13

I suspect someone will make a 1.12 --> 1.13 converter at some point. It shouldn't be too big a deal, but I would not expect Mojang to do that.

    I found this interesting:

Xisumavoid doesn't seem to be spending much time complaining about the changes to commands as he's using them in the video.

At least in concrete. Stairs & slabs = spawnproof AND fireproof roofing material. What we currently have available is just plain sad. :(

Yup! Depending on what version, https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-136051 may be in play. A 1.13.1-pre1 will likely be released today that fixes that.

posted a message on VoxelMap [1.16.1 to 1.7.10] - a minimap and worldmap

Right now we are in the 1.13.1 Snapshot on our server. At SOME point we look forward to the intersection between LiteLoader, the version we are running on the server, and VoxelMap. I've been strongly urging people to support the Mods and Plugins they enjoy, because I know if we don't show our appreciation for the things we treasure, we may find they are no longer around.

What's the best way for my wife and I to show our appreciation? A donation now or a donation after the 1.13.something release? At this point, it looks like "1.13.0" is more a "snapshot" than a release, and we all may be better off just pretending like 1.13.0 didn't happen and skip to 1.13.1.

1.13.1 hasn't been released yet. We are doing ok on our 18w32a Snapshot server, but your best bet is to take time to play with the Snapshots and see.

I thought it may come down to just using Spigot, but in our case there are bug fixes in the Snapshot we want to use We are staying Vanilla for now. Good luck with your server!

Ouch. I hope someone here has other ideas on what to look for. 1.13 Vanilla is certainly a pig, but I'm ok with 4Gb and a few concurrent players. The only other thing I could think of would be using /debug, though you need to read carefully how it works. That should tell you what the Vanilla server is seeing.

If that does not help, Spigot would be the next step "stable or not".

Are you rebooting once every six hours or so? I have render distance set at 10 chunks (the default), ram at 4Gb. I'm not really doing anything special, so I'm not what to tell you beyond that.

Ah, I see. It would be useful if this were explained somewhere why to pick one "Faithful" over another "Faithful", and it would be super cool if there was some way to tell one Faithful from another, as they all seem pretty "Faithful."
