posted a message on Minecraft Realm

Do you really want or need a Realm? If so, be an informed consumer. If yes, you will need a Realm for 10, for 3 persons to play at the same time.

Advantage: Any member can play, independently, when the owner is not online

    Disadvantages: Recurrent, consistent issues

    • Read every word, Terms of Use (Purchase Agreement). There is no refund for malfunction. There is no extension for hours, days, or weeks lost when something is wrong at Mojang's end. Your Realm will not be extended by time lost. You will be purchasing the Realm for the stated time, usually six months. You can not get a refund for any circumstances for which you can not use the Realm.
    • After any updates, Realms may not work as expected. Crashes occur. What previously worked stops working, for hours, days, weeks, months.
    • After updates, Resource Packs and Behavior Packs disappear from Worlds that previously worked. This disappearance occurs commonly, not rarely, after updates. If you use worlds with added Resource and Behavior Packs, be prepared for extra time, going back and forth from Realm to your Minecraft program, to replace the broken World, after restoring Resource and Behavior Packs in the source World. Or be prepared to create a new source World, if the broken Realm World can not be fixed. You must exit the Realm to make these corrections, which will take at least 15 minutes. Thus, if players sign in, expecting to play in a Realm, and suddenly the Resource and Behavior Packs have disappeared, the will be delays until the owner of the Realm exits, repairs, enters and replaces the broken World. Then, more delays as the other players rejoin the Realm, and wait for the resources to load.
    • After some updates, a notice appears that the Realm will be restored. That may take hours or days. And/or a message appears that one must update the game in order to access the Realm. What game?? Where?? At the Minecraft Store, the first, or several, attempt to update Minecraft leads to Purchase, as the only option. This does not go smoothly. It takes multiple attempts to get beyond 'Purchase" as the only option! Again, what game, where??? The specific World game that is current in the Realm???? The instructions are inadequate!
    • Rendering: there is poor distance-visibility. Visual enjoyment of any Realm world is diminished. Simulation Distance gets reduced from 12 to 10 chunks.
    • Simulation Distance is stuck at 10 chunks max, and can not be reverted to 12, after downloadirng or exporting a Realm World back to one's one's own Minecraft listings on one's own device. That particular World will continue to have poor distance rendering.
    • Large worlds, with lots elements in Resource and Behavior Packs, are extremely slow to load and tend to crash frequently.

I have posted a YouTube video that compares Extreme Monster Trucks, on my Realm, comparing with Packs, with Resource Packs removed, and with both Resource and Behavior Packs removed. https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&ar=1&video_id=GZU5G-BJh2Y . I have added images below from Exploring Monster Trucks, in a Realm, and not in a Realms.

Multiplay can work as well, or better, in ordinary online joining a game, online. Other players that you invite do not need to own the game.

I have over a year of experience with Realms. Despite the disadvantages, for now, I still have a Realm.

posted a message on keep coordiantes visible on the screen

I was able to get, and use, JourneyMap. I looked at LifeLoader and VoxelMap info, but not yet YouTube. Thanks for the info.

Update: I have Java version 8 update 144 (build 1.8.0_144_b01) . At YouTube Capstones video for VOXELMAP 1.12.2, I see Java 9. My forge file is similar the file at the video, except for the last 4 numbers: video .2491, mine ends with .2705

Do those differneces in Java and Forge matter?

I was able to get LiteLoad and Voxel to work in 1.12.2. When playing in that version, the Mods button disappears from the settings. See screenshot below. 1) How my garden looked using before LiteLoad and Voxel, but JourneyMap. 2) The garden disaster after running with LiteLoad and Voxel! This happened with, and later, without Journey map in the mobs folder.

posted a message on New screen pops up, when opening Minecraft, and clicking on Sign In

I am seeing a new screen, when opening Minecraft, and clicking on Sign In. It requires a Yes response to allowing feedbackloginppe staff to access non-Minecraft data, such as data from my email account! Does anyone know what feecbackloginppe is? Or any more information about this?

posted a message on MCPE glitchy update

Updates are always inadequately tested from a profit based, accountability perspective. And moreso, not tested at all for the full range of cross-platform devices. I perceive that the testing is done on Xbox console, latest, and not at all, across all devices. We are called upon to do the clean up reporting, that should have been detected before forced release of updates.

posted a message on Minecraft - Worlds through Versions?

In Bedrock Together, if previous Worlds you created and saved had bugs, the bugs will still be there. Such as mobs overpopulating and going crazy (Wildlife Savannah), and a defective Western edge of the world (Relics of the Privateers), in my case. For a proper World, I had to start over with updated templates to avoid bugs in previously created worlds.

posted a message on Realm Replace World is NOT working properly

Replace World in my Realm STOPPED about two hours ago. Instead of the intended World (Dinosaur Island, Relics of the Privateers, Norse Mythology, other purchased Worlds), a default world is what opens. NOT happy with this! Xbox support rep said that she could see at Minecraft. net that others were reporting problems with the Realms. I am weary of hours per day, several days per week, since Better Together, September 23, 2017, being on the phone and dealing with various issues. Please post something in an EASY TO FIND PLACE, preferably with NO intrusive links to dangerous software. What wrong with my Realm? Is there something wrong with Realms in general, right now?

posted a message on Minecraft on IPad - Multiplayer Child account

This problem is extremely annoying. I have had the same issue, with computers (Lenovo, and Surface Pros). However, be sure that you keep a keep eye out to supervise, and that the other players are known to you. I do not see proper safeguards, and I do see some potential risks built into defaults. Such as allowing Friends of Friends, in Multplayer. Also such as the gamertags. In our family, we contact potential 'friends' to verify gamertag identities as specific known persons. At Xbox, any inadvertent click, which is quite possible for any adult or child, can lead to exposure to unwanted and unsafe contacts. Such as Recommended for you friends to invite! For known persons, we have found, adding (or maybe invite) friend ( a specific, known, gamertag, for specific friend) works. But that has taken FOUR months to figure out! It as also taken FOUR months, a lot of wasted time and trial and error, to get a trial Realm to work. Too much work! On the other hand, both options finally resulted in lots of fun, among my grandchildren and my sister's grandchild (on another continent). FOUR months to achieve this, with many wasted, dead-end hours, and USELESS tech support. The most important piece is communication with parents of friends, to verify gamertag is really the person you intend.

posted a message on creating a map wall

I am in Creative Mode. Use Peaceful, Easy, and Normal levels of difficulty. On 5 computers and an iPhone. Windows10/PE, Better Together version. I have reviewed the DigMinecraft and Gamepedia documents on making maps, extensively. I am not able to produce maps that fit together nicely, on a map wall. I have found that with zooming to levels of the maps (0 to 4), the starting points of the maps shift to unpredictable places, at the edges of the specific map. The basic tutorial documents do not explain this clearly. Some YouTube videos have quick demos, but do not explain exactly how or where to start each map, so that a set of maps aligns on a wall. Some YouTube videos somewhat attempt to show this, but the authors also seem to be struggling with this. Perhaps a few of their maps will fit together nicely, then a misaligned map pops up, and that ends the video.

posted a message on Using Coordinates is not cheating

Java version is akin to fine dining, high fashion, high creativity, master-builders. What will be formerly known as Windows 10, is for mass distribution, akin to WalMart, Sam's, big box stores, fashion knock-offs, and fast food joints. There is a place for both, and most likely more money to be milked out of the audience for mass production products. I started with Microsoft WIndows 10 in June, then PC/Mac Java early September. Java has far more options for the creative end. I do hope the Better Together, which has somewhat forcefully upgraded itself to what was formerly know as Minecraft Windows 10, does include the map option. I do home that Mojang retains it's hold on the Java version, and keeps Microsoft away from that. There is likely a reason, from my perspective as a new comer, that the master artists using 2009 Minecraft, and older versions of forge, etc. Hopefully, those older versions, and all associated add-ons, will remain available. I do not see that it is possible to install what was Minecraft Windows 10 1.1.5. Better Together will be what one gets if one needs to uninstall and reinstall what was in place before. I do not see in Xbox|Microsoft any way to get previous versions. There, I see that we will get what they interpret to be as most marketable. And if most persons do not want, or use, maps, maps will not happen. Time will tell.
