Now, you may be wondering, what sets this server apart from any and all other LotR servers? Well, we've done the unthinkable, we've broken lore *gasp*. This server was born out of our of appreciation for Lord of the Rings RP, but also distaste for it's more limiting factors. However well the story of a LotR server is executed, it is always just a story. Pushing players through scripted events that do not change and giving them no chance to make their mark on the world. That has changed with Ringscraft. We've taken the massive background and lore of the Tolkien Legendarium, and erased all of the events of the Fourth Age. Our own revised Fourth Age is meant to allow players to truly have an effect of the events of the server. Thus, we have the solid base of Tolkien's Legendarium as well as having the flexibility of of a self created story. So go ahead! While Ringscraft is an RP server, we recognize that to some players, PvP is a very rewarding experience. Thus, while RPPvP is considered to be the standard form of combat in this server, those wishing to partake in PvP may do so under some conditions. All terms of the PvP must be determined by BOTH parties beforehand. We will not tolerate players who roam the countryside, attacking players who don’t want to fight and stealing all of their items. Both people must agree to PvP before it is allowed. Finally, during server events (such as a siege on a castle) PvP WILL be permitted. Thus, while events have substantial rewards, there is also a potential for danger during them.
Nályë alatulya síssë. Alámenë! (You’re welcome here. Go with a good blessing!)

For those of you who would like some background information on the different races as well as some tips on how to create your character, please refer below to our races information.
Hailing from Bree and it’s surrounding areas, Breelanders are a simple, rustic folk. Once, they served the High King of Arnor during the days of its might. But when the northern kingdom fell, Bree remained as a prominent center of the north.Breelanders often have simple, English names such as Tom, Bill, and Will/Ellie, Clara, and Lucy.
Men of Dale
Living under the shadow of the Lonely Mountain, the men from Dale are a tenacious people. Surviving many battles with the Easterlings from Rhun, it was their king, Bard the Bowman, who killed Smaug the dragon with the Black Arrow of Dale.Men from Dale tend to have Anglo-Saxon names such as Beoferth, Hesric, and Ordwulf/Ceofled, Leofwen, and Cynbur.
The horse lords of Rohan were once a proud people. However, when the Haradrim swept through the south, their kingdom was lost. Now, the survivors seek to start again in Eriador. Many hold a simmering anger at the Haradrim who destroyed their home. The Rohirrim generally to have Anglo-Saxon names such as Beoferth, Hesric, and Ordwulf/Ceofled, Leofwen, and Cynbur.
Coming from the south of Middle Earth, the Gondorians have been reduced to refugees. Once the proudest kingdom of men, it’s people are now scattered around Eriador. Still, the pride and dignity of their Numenorean heritage has not been entirely forgotten.Gondorians almost always have Sindarin (Grey Elven) names such as Ambor, Halrond, and Barahad/Nimraen, Findwen, and Saeldis.
Simply a name for all the men who live south or east of Gondor, the Haradrim and Easterlings are a powerful and diverse military force. Clad in red and brown, donning brazen scales and wielding wicked sabers, they are an organized and terrifying menace atop their war Oliphaunts. The Haradrim have many, varied names such as Brodda, Khamul, and Uldor/Kuzu, Yileke, and Markiz.
Standing under 4 feet tall, these simple farmers and herdsmen from the Shire are not to be discounted. While they have taken a more active role in the Eriador as of late, they are still renowned for their love of peace and their skill in growing things.Hobbits have simple or on occasion, Gothic/Frankish names. Hobbit women tend to be named after plants or gemstones. Some names include Sam, Everbras, and Robin/Bell, Mirabella, and Hanna.
Since the 7 fathers of the dwarves awoke in Middle Earth, dwarves have always had an affinity for mining and crafting. Stout, strong, and unmoving, they are all but immune to the allure of power, but are often swayed by the prospect of riches.Dwarves normally have simple Norse names such as Anar, Ginar, and Kosi/Hón, Már, and Kóna.
The natural enemy of the Dwarves, the Goblins are a race of smaller orcs. Highly varied in appearance, they have recently been accepted rather grudgingly into the cities of men. With a natural affinity for scavenging and thievery, they are always ready for mischief.Goblins have names in the Black Speech of Mordor such as Bolg, Gorshag, Radthak, Nagrat, Zagrad, and Yagaz.

((This is a list of RP laws to abide by (or not!). What that means is that these are IC laws only. If you break them, you will not be banned or punished by the admins or moderators directly. However, if you are caught in character breaking these laws, you may suffer in character punishment. If you break many of these laws, you will become a criminal IC, but you will NOT be kicked, banned, etc. Please remember that it is up to you whether you want to report/accuse someone of an in character crime. Also, remember to check here often as new rules may be added or changed.))
The cities and rulers of the land hath deemed these activities as criminal in nature. If you don't, you will be arrested.))Finally, if thou hast an ID that thou canst show the authorities, thou art more likely to get off with less punishment.
Classes play a large role in the server. All players choose a Profession Class and a Combat class. Profession classes limit what a player can craft or break. These classes are the same for each race, and create a diverse economy. Ie: Only miners can break iron and gold ore. Only smiths can craft iron or gold armor.Combat classes are obviously for, combat. There are three combat classes, Warrior, Archer, and Healer. These classes do vary from race to race, creating a more accurate and fair PVP enviorment. Keep in mind that these classes will not automatically make you a warrior, archer, or a healer. A bartender who has never handled a sword in his life can still be considered a warrior due to the fact that his natural preference is to fight like a warrior (up close with a melee weapon).
Miner - The miners of Middle-earth! They can mine/smelt ores.
Smith - From armor to swords to tools, these guys can forge it! They can ever smelt their own ores.
Farmer - For anyone interested in the business of food! He can grow and harvest advanced crops.
Gather - A man of the wilderness! Fishing and logging are his prime skills.
Warrior- These fighters are comfortable up close, taking hits and dealing out high damage with heavy armor to protect them in the thick of combat.
Archer - These fighters are skilled with the bow, being more attuned to distance combat and agility. Highly adaptable and skilled, their arrows are feared by all.
Healer- Those of who choose healing have a special devotion to keeping others and themselves alive both on and off the battlefield.

Before you create your character, please read this spoiler in order to get a grasp of how we quantify skill levels.
When it comes to RP combat, there is invariably going to be some confusion as to what constitutes a "master" or an "expert" and so on. To address this, we have created a basic guideline in order for players to base their character's skills off of. Keep in mind that this is NOT a strict rulebook and we don't expect you to start numbering off your skill levels in your applications. We would however, like you to keep in mind where (in general) your character lies on the scale in terms of aptitude in certain skills. The skills below have been divided into 5 ranks. Basic, adept, skilled, and expert are the first four and can be used by any player when they first create their character. However as we've detailed in our application, the fifth rank, master, is off limits when you first create your character (unless you petition us with a very convincing request). The first three skills we have chosen to display are "close combat", "archery", and "healing/loremastery". Keep in mind that these do not change your "heroes level", they merely address your RP actions.

Can assemble simple to moderate "devices" such as hidden doors and switches. Please remember that this does come with a decent amount of freedom and leeway and there will be no punishment if we catch you stepping out of the bounds of this system. We know it's a lot to take in and it can be hard to remember so we'll simply remind you not to do that.
