This mod is freakin' awesome! I have only praise for you in figuring out this.

    Ideas I have:

    Turrets
    Allow all blocks to work
    config file
    moving parts

Ask me for any example of a ship that could be Utilized with this mod, and I'll build one!

I give you props, my friend.

So, I've recently started learning Java and started to take up Minecraft as my modding project.

I've been wondering if this would be a good idea for a MOD, not to be implemented into Minecraft.

So, let me tell you the idea.

    NIGHTMARE REALM

"From that day forth when the Great Creator Notch provided a recipe to make beds, Steve was happy. One night, Steve was about to fall asleep when he noticed that there was a creeper by his window. Frightened, He watched the window until the creeper had seemed to disappear. Then, he fell into a deep sleep. He awoken in an unknown place that was dark as the night, and Steve had none of his items. And so Steve, found shelter in the ground, in this horrifying dimension. Screams echoed through the rocks and and white fog obscured his vision. It was only until he meant a floating figure that looked like him was he able to figure out where he was. "GET OUT, GET OUT, GET OUT!", Said the phantom, and then attacked him. Steve died from the attack, only to awaken into his house, where the sun was rising. He had figured out where he had been. He had fallen into a nightmare."
-The Minecraft Legends, Volume IV: The Nightmare

This mod will add a new dimension into the minecraft world, however, It will not be accessible by any portal. You must sleep.(so, I'm thinking this mod will not be compatible with somnia unless I make a fix for it. :tongue.gif:) In order for you to have a nightmare, a hostile mob must be in a specific radius of you and you must have a glass block in this radius as well. Seeing the mob through the glass will allow you to have a nightmare. When you awake, you will be trapped within this realm, until you either die and awaken back in the regular world, or force your way out by sleeping with a flower in your hand.

    The Environment

The enviornment will contain haze, a white fog that obscures vision when trying to see in the distance. This haze will only be removed when fragments of your memory come into play.

Memory fragments are parts of the real world or nether(and MAYBE aether from the aethermod) imbedded into your nightmare. Here, You can find ruins filled with treasure or dungeons or maybe even secret keys or bosses. The world will be barren, and every time you are in the open, you will be watched and attacked when not paying attention. Fortunately, the animals here provide a way to have cover from this unwavering watching eye.

    The Blocks:

    Soul Dirt

Soul Sand that has been exposed to intense cold has been transformed into Soul Dirt, which is used for a few things, but contains souls that were trapped in the nether, and have been banished to a realm worse than the nether.

    Hope Rock

Hope Rock is the rock of the hopes and dreams of people who have never been able to escape the nightmare in which they had been trapped in. Your fate is just as much if you can't get out.

    Fear Ore

When a large amount of fear in the air seeps into the ground, It is "frozen" by Hope from the Hope Rock, turning fear into a gem that is strong because of all of it's weaknesses. the gems are trapped into an ore and kept from escaping by the Hope Rock surrounding it.

    Dream Ore

Dream Ore shines brightly among the hope rock, representing a light that cannot be dwindled. Tools made from this ore shine brightly in the haze, and dissipate it's effect, allowing you to see better and fight off the darkness.

    Yin-Yang Ore
Yin and Yang are from chinese, and they mean the balance of light and darkness. If you find this ore, it will have a 45% chance of dropping Yin or Yang, and a 10% chance of dropping both Yin and Yang. With Yin and Yang you can make a special weapon that will allow you to fight the holder of your dream.

    Determination Ore

Determination Ore is the rarest ore you can find, and is needed to make the weapon of your choice (crossbow, sword, hammer, bomb sling ,flail, Wand or fists) to escape the nightmare. You can craft any of these with the same amount of resources and fight the holder of your dream with any, they all have the same power, they are just suited to different types of players. Determination Ore also is the second best ore you can have, and when mixed with dream ore and Yin-Yang, you can make Ethereal tools. Ethereal tools are the strongest tools you can have and provide light and maximum power.

    Despair Trees

Despair trees are commonly found in the Nightmare, and when you die, a Despair tree will be there, remembering your failure to get out of the dimension. They are spawned there when others fail to leave their nightmare.

    Pride Cedar

Pride is for the ones that die on the point of being ready to get out. Your stuff can only be kept in a pride chest in the Nightmare, or you will never be able to get it back. Your dropped items make a pride tree for when you die, in addition to a Despair tree.

    The Fourteen flowers

The fourteen flowers that spawn that you can collect are the Seven Deadly Sins: wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony; and the Seven Heavenly Virtues: prudence, justice, temperance, fortitude, faith, hope, love. Each of the groups of flowers can be combined for a special secret.

    Spikewash

Spikewash is the water that is made to kill you. When in it, you take damage and can swim through it.

    Glow Spring

Glow Spring destroys anything it touches bu you. When combined with Spikewash it makes Yin-Yang ore. It is also very bright.

    MOBS

    Souls

Souls are the lost who wander the Nightmare, looking for a way out. You, too, are a soul trying to get out. They drop various loot, but they are never carrying anything rare. They are armed with katana, one of the new weapons of the Nightmare.

    Dragons

Dragons come in many different colors and sizes, and they spawn in you're memory fragments. Each color has their own special ability and they are all tameable and rideable. All can fly. Dragons can be breed together as well to make a different type of cultural dragon, with special abilities.

    Wisps

Wisps are floating energies designed to **** you off and cause you to fail. They can teleport you into a mob group or a dungeon, and they can be killed in one hit. However, they must touch you to teleport, so beat them off fast before they get the chance.

    Lanterns

These draw you towards them, and are very fast. They are weak though. Be wary of light, even though it may signal a memory area, It may also be a Lantern waiting for your demise.

    Boo

The follow you and make noises, and can imitate mobs. When you try and see them they stop moving and become transparent. The only way to kill them is attract them into a memory area, where they will be revealed. They attract mobs, but do not attack you.

    Bosses

    It is a mystery...

To get out of the realm, you must sleep in a bed. The only be that is available is the one in the Dream Cager's Castle, and so you must find keys to allow you in the kingdom. The kingdom will be near your spawn. To find they keys, you will need to travel into dungeons and fight the bosses for the keys. There will also be an item to enable you to stay in the Nightmare upon dying.

IDEAS, COMMENTS, PRAISE, ACCEPTED. If you don't like it, please explain why. Remember to answer the poll and remember, This will only be a mod, not an addition to the game.

They have a lantern attached to them, designed to lure you in. They are very weak and can be killed in one hit with a weapon, but they are very fast. Be wary of every light, although most lead to Memory zones, where there is dungeons and sometimes a species of the 14 flowers.

    Boos

Not Joking. When a boo finds you, it does something similar to the Mario effect. They follow you and make noises that imitate other mobs, causing you to look around. They also turn around and are transparent, covering their face. Using light allows you to see them, and get rid of them. They do not attack unless provoked with light.

    Bosses

    It is a mystery...

To get out, you must first get the keys to the Cage kingdom, which will be placed near your spawn but is blocked off until you use the keys on it. To get the keys you must fight the bosses located near memory areas. Then you can finally fight the dream holder.

Coming back: There will be different stuff in the area, but I'm not sure what or care to think about it (but discussion is open) until I have this mod made.

I wish to offer some help and ask for some.

Installing this mod usually breaks my game. How should i install it? Just install the base package(Modloader, Preader, and Minecraft Extended) and run it and then install other mods or Install all the mods in one big package. The only problem is that both of these methods don't work.I've tried. If anyone has a crystal clear tutorial, please post it. I'm on a mac if it helps.

Now, for those with connecting to servers with problems: I have an easy solution, but sorta time consuming.

    Basically:

Take your current Minecraft out of its folder.

Make a folder (preferably on your desktop) called Minecraft Jars or something like that.

Create three subfolders inside it called SMP, SSP, and Backup.

Redownload minecraft three times( To do this, download minecraft once, then take its main folder out of where ever it is0usually where you access it so you can mod it- and place it somewhere else. Then Start minecraft and it should redownload again. redo this step three times, and place it in the corresponding folders. This ensures all of them are fresh and ready to be modded. ) Put them in the SMP, SSP, and backup folders.

Take the SMP folder out and mod it with your SMP mods, but not with minecraft extended, becuase minecraft extended causes the problem of crashing in SMP.

Put it in the SMP folder you made.

Take out the SSP folder. Mod that, and put it back in the folder. Or you can use your current one that you took out.

If both of these work, it should be easy to swamp them in and out without problems. The only error I've encountered was the achievements and stats not being saved. So

It works for most every mod that you don't want to/can't use in SMP. Always copy and paste the fresh backup, so you don't have to redownload again and again.

For SMP I use a modpack designed for our server, and for SSP I use mods that add mobs and more into the game. But I'd love to have this mod work.

As this mod doesn't work for me right now, i would like a tutorial on how to install it please. If it helps I am on a mac.

I COULD do it, i just dont know how to make it modloader compatible.

Basically you would just edit the classes in the creeper mob to set explosion radius to zero and if you want, TNT to zero as well. Something like that =P.

Or you could get singleplayer commands, i think it has something like that.

Again, this is just a quick post, so excuse me for mistakes.

Ok, I've decided to finish something. =P

OK, so my town proposal is in Lemuria, which, on the wiki, states it is open for members to develop in as soon as Deep Space opened.

The Cords are 3200, -4480, which is close to New Voxel, but Expansions to this city will take place in the east,so no need to worry about it clashing with NV.
The BACKUP cords are 3040, -5440

The town's center will be focused on several large buildings, but the Cathedral will be the focus. There will be walls surrounding the city, and expansion areas will branch out tords the east. I will Be building in the Main Styles of Gothic, Gothic Revival, Carpenter Gothic, Brick Gothic, and Modern Gothic ; plus there will be secondary styles such as Russian, Victorian, Baroque, and Renaissance thrown in. But the main style of the Town Will be Gothic. There will be two main types of housing that branch off into different categories. These are the Towers and the SmallChurch. The Towers are builds that spiral into the sky, and the Smallchurch are builds that can be made on platforms attached to the towers, or on the ground below. Here is the order of my Progress that will be made on the town:

    1. Cathedral
    2. Walls and the Castle
    3. The Palace
    4. Houses
    5. Guild Meeting Halls
    6. Collages, schools, Government Buildings,Town Halls, Hotels, Inns,Taverns, Universities, Libraries, Factories, Office Buildings (May hit a San-Francisco Style Street corner Style),Windmills, Casinos, Greenhouses, Clubs, Shopping Malls, Flea Markets, etc.

The Time Period will be Post Modern, allowing me to achieve a wide range of blocks without going to fully technological. If you Want, I can build the Cathedral first, and then you could either approve or disallow the idea.

And Yes, i know Gothic requires a huge amount of Detail in its builds.

I am eager to hear your responses, as I feel I need to reconcile the Past Projects I have failed to complete on this server.

Let me know what you think and get back to me either in-game or on the fourms.

    Thank You.

Didn't want to be late. I added a couple buildings to the middle class town, and i probably could make a few towns in the save.

I didn't do very much though. I'll work on it for two weeks and return it to you, but this is for the sake of passing it on.

    Modder toggle

This idea is still being developed, added onto, and simplified. Any suggestions should be posted in here.

One slightly bad news item is that I’m starting to get second thoughts about the modding API. People are already doing great mods, and there’s no way we’d be able to make an API good and dynamic enough to support all of the awesome things people are making. I still very much want modding to be a part of Minecraft, but I’m not convinced spending months writing an API that won’t satisfy people is the correct way to do so. There probably are better ways to do it.
The main problems we need to solve are preventing people from making money off our work (unless they have a license deal with us), and making sure mods don’t break with each game update. People obviously already CAN make mods, so the ability to make them isn’t the biggest priority.
    Hmm.

The above section has quoted from Notch's blog on Tumblr. Many of you have installed mods to enhance the game because, face it, playing vanilla gets repetitive, and when it gets to that point, you'll start with three things:

    1) I need a new game.

    2) I need a mod.

    3) What would make this game better and more fun for myself.

The texture pack problem has been solved, with a handy feature of being able to install texture packs easily and switch between them, allowing custom maps to be made and a non default game to be played. Alas, this is option is not for mods, and with it would be several problems.

One, toggling the mods would be easy, but mods modify class files that run the game. We need a way to have the class files substituted, added, or subtracted when needed in order to toggle the mods.

Solving this? Quite difficult.Obviously, the game would need to be able to back up it's jar, make a copy of it, add the files itself, and mess with anything else that the mod needs. This basically means that the game would have to make multiple jars of itself and switch between them. The only problem with this is having multiple mods. The game would need to run a compatibility check(I do this when installing mods, by dragging the class files in one folder, seeing If any are the same), and make a new backup, add the files together in the jar, and have them be able to run together. This will be hard to achieve on Notch's part, considering the jar runs the game itself. Along with the option of switching between versions.

The option of switching between versions allows updates to run through the regular game client, and keep the other jars free from the update. Allowing the modder to update his mod will allow the old one to stay there, and the updated one to go in the same folder. The user can then choose to delete the old one or keep it. The user would get a choice of playing from the time they bought it, or from the start of Beta onwards. This would allow people to switch through different versions of the game.

The issue of making money of Notch's work. I don't mind waiting five seconds through an ad.fly link, in fact I prefer it. It's a way of paying back for the modders knowledge, hard work, time, and computer. I have not heard any cases of making money off Notch's hard work, however I have heard of pirated minecraft spread through flash drives.

This is not fully refined, but I cannot think of a simpler way to do this. Please leave all suggestions, hate, objections, approval, additions, and comments below.

Plus, I have a few ideas for a city. Just have to find a space, since my last appeared to have been swamped over.

    Neoclassical City

    Mansion City

    Eco City

    Gothic City

EDIT: Im currently building houses for each of these cities on the save i built the Rokh on. Hopefully they can be imported without any problems.

I was wondering, should we add a page to the wiki for submitting cities and getting approval? I think I know what to make.
