At first I spawned in nothingness and fell to my death for 5 minutes, then i ran around but couldn't walk past 50 blocks of the spawn point or i would fall off the map because it didnt render chunks fast enough. Then i played with the doors on your house, then tried to build my own house.
When deleting or adding chunks, it took like 30 seconds for the server to register it.
A bunch of social rejects were banished from the realm of reality by a powerful deity with command of the elements of 1s and 0s and now must build a new OCD society out of 3D blocks over the internet.
Even though gold has no specific use right now, you have to admit that people still mine it and store it in their chests.
Now you may say that this is in anticipation of when it will be useful, but even if it never did have any use, people would still mine it and collect it.
It's not like people would just walk upon a gold ore vein and shrug and keep on walking, people will still collect it no matter what. I remember back when you got 2-3 gold blocks from every gold ore mined, I built a friggin house out of pure gold. Just because I could.
I don't strip mine unless i'm doing it to create a basement under my house.
The rest of the time I go cave exploring, and on average i find tons and tons of iron, some redstone, and absolutely no diamond. ****ing diamond WHERE ARE YOU I AM NEAR THE LAVA NOW REVEAL YOURSELF
Right now meat is so easy to obtain and cooked meat heals so many more hearts that wheat and mushroom farming is almost pointless.
Either meat needs to be a little harder to come across or it needs to heal less health. As it is, bread is becoming a waste of time and inventory space.
Well if Notch sets the options so that each server can set the respawn time in between deaths, then you could just set that spawn timer to 24 hours and have something like this.
I would totally play this. Not all the time, but every once in a while. It would be like nightmare difficulty. You'd pretty much have to band together with a few other bros and watch each others backs.
I think the idea is to make TNT more difficult to create.
If TNT was easy to make, it would be a griefer's paradise. I kinda like the way it is right now. Not too hard to get the stuff for it, but not too easy either.
I don't see currency as being totally necessary but if it takes the form of coins made from ores, I think it could be done so long as those coins are capable of being re-smelted back into bars of ore. Thus, coins could be used as a smaller unit of measurement in terms of prices when bars of ore are too much.
This all hinges on how big the servers are and how many people are on at a time. The more people playing at once, the more viable it is. If it's just 5 people on a server at one given time then coins likely won't be used. If it's something more like 50+ people playing on a server at a given time, then yes it would probably be useful.

That way finding my way back is just a matter of heading in the opposite direction.
Since adopting this method, I have never again gotten lost.

I might as well be a grandpa. This also goes a long way to explain the off topic pointless arguments I read in every thread.

My combat skills are way better and I am pretty much fearless in combat, but my buildings all come out terrible.

You'd have to be really anal to actually care about what it's called. Let alone actually argue with somebody over the internet about it.
