Grass block. It's unique as it's color slightly changes to adapt to the vegetation surrounding it.

posted a message on HELP! I can't play the game like this!
    Quote from KILLJOY_22»
Ok, so i turned the minimap off and VBO is on. the game is playable now. does anyone have any idea what causes this?

I would like to use the minimap, tried to leave it on level one but it has to stay off.

    Also what are VBOs?

It stands for Vertex Buffer Object. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I know it increases frame rates when it is on. It uses the memory on your graphics card instead of the system memory.

posted a message on Is 1.8 Lagging for you? POLL - Let's settle this issue!
I posted in this thread a while back when I was having severe lag with 1.8 on my SMP server. On 1.7 I was getting around 30 fps but with 1.8, I was getting around 10 fps with MAJOR lag spikes, and horrendous amounts of tick skipping.

Now I get around 50 fps on the same server with absolutely no lag. My fix was putting in the "nogui" line in the .bat file that starts the server. The Java GUI seemed to make the game lag horribly for me, but when running the server on the command prompt (nogui), I get no lag whatsoever.

Go to the Minecraft wiki for setting up servers, and scroll down to the "Starting the Server" section. It will tell you everything you need to know about setting up the .bat file without the java gui.

    Minecraft Server Wiki: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Tutorials/Setting_up_a_server

As for single-player, I don't seem to be lagging at all. One upgrade I suggest is switching to Java 64-bit. You can check your Java Version in-game by pressing F3 (debug screen), and looking in the top right corner of the text. x32 is 32 bit, and x64 is 64 bit. It makes a world of a difference to run on 64-bit Java. You may need to update your browser to 64-bit for it to work, and only update to 64-bit if you have a 64-bit operating system.

Hope it helps settle the lag issue for most users.

posted a message on Silliest way you have died in Minecraft?
Got lost in a cave system so I decided to dig straight up (not staircase style). Completely dark, then suddenly I died. Some sand came down on me since I was digging under a desert biome. First and last time going into a cave for a while. That was when I was new though.

posted a message on Is 1.8 Lagging for you? POLL - Let's settle this issue!
The new update makes minecraft extremely difficult to play. Not to mention, it's impossible to fight mobs now since nothing happens when you hit them and whenever I break a block, it takes 10 seconds for it to actually disappear. I am getting 25 fps but the lag is horrible, and this is on a vanilla server I am hosting. 1.7.10 seems to work fine. I had to change the max tick rate to -1 to keep it from crashing though. We need a fix mojang.
